Chapter 7: Throughout heaven and earth, I alone am the... Errand Boy

Next afternoon, Raikou stood in the heart of her kitchen, a sanctuary of simmering pots and fragrant spices.

The air was thick with the scent of a hearty beef stew, slow-cooked with tender carrots and potatoes, paired with fluffy rice and a tangy side of pickled vegetables—Yor's favorite meal.

Raikou's hands moved with purpose, packing the food into a sturdy container, each motion laced with a mother's care. She wanted Yor, her eldest daughter, to feel the warmth of home despite the relentless demands of guild life.

"Dante!" she called, her voice bright and melodic as it echoed through the house.

"Come here, please!"

Dante lounged in his room, sprawled across his bed with a book he wasn't really reading.

At his mother's summons, he rolled to his feet and ambled to the kitchen, leaning against the doorframe.

"Yeah, Mom? What's up?"

Raikou turned, her face lighting up with a smile that could melt the iciest resolve.

"I need you to take this to Yor at the guild. She's been working herself to the bone, and I won't have her skipping meals. Will you do it for me?"

Dante smirked, crossing his arms. "What, I'm your errand boy now?"

"Oh, hush!" Raikou swatted the air playfully, her pout exaggerated.

"It's for your sister. You wouldn't want her starving, would you?"

He chuckled, relenting under her charm.

"Fine, fine. I'll go. But only 'cause you're guilt-tripping me into it."

Her pout vanished, replaced by a triumphant grin. "That's my boy! Here—" She handed him the container, still warm from the food inside.

"Be quick, and don't dawdle. I want her to eat it hot."

"Got it, Mom," Dante said, tucking the container under his arm. "I'll be back before you know it."

After saying that, he gave a light spank to her ass while grabbing her ass cheeks a bit.

"Eeep!~"

To this sudden attack, Raikou could only let out a small surprised moan as she looked at him with an embarrassed red face.

With a grin he waved at her and stepped outside, the midday sun casting golden rays over the bustling city.

People milled about—vendors shouting their wares, kids darting through the streets, and hunters striding past in their rugged gear.

Dante nodded to a few familiar faces, his mind already drifting. The guild wasn't far, but the usual route felt too mundane.

Instead, he veered toward the forest path—a quieter, winding trail he'd walked a hundred times.

Even though Tokyo was one of the most advanced cities in Japan, it did not stop the government from maintaining a good amount of forests here and there.

But, the reason Dante took this route wasn't because he was interested in the nature, but because he had sensed something in the forest.

The trees closed in around him, their branches weaving a canopy that dappled the ground with light and shadow.

The city's clamor faded, replaced by the rustle of leaves and the distant trill of birds. Dante inhaled deeply, savoring the earthy scent.

It was peaceful here, a stark contrast to the chaos he'd known in another life—a life of battles and bloodshed he'd left behind when fate dropped him into this world.

Halfway through the forest, Dante's senses sharpened. His Six Eyes, flared to life, picking up a ripple in the mana flow—an anomaly most would miss.

His pulse quickened, curiosity tugging him off the path. He followed the disturbance, weaving through gnarled roots and thick underbrush until he reached a clearing.

There, hidden among the trees, shimmered a dungeon gate. It's energy pulsed faintly, a swirling vortex of power barely visible against the greenery.

Dante's lips curved into a grin.

An unregistered dungeon, and judging by the mana signature, it was A-rank—dangerous if ignored, but a playground for someone like him.

He glanced at the container in his hand.

'Yor's food… Mom'll kill me if it gets cold.'

But then his gaze flicked back to the gate.

'If this thing breaks, it's trouble for everyone.'

'Plus… I could use the stretch.'

The itch to test his limits had been gnawing at him since his awakening, and this was too good to pass up.

The decision was made, and he set the container on a flat rock, ensuring it wouldn't tip.

"Sorry, sis," he muttered. "Duty calls."

With a steadying breath, he stepped through the gate, the world twisting around him as he crossed into the dungeon's realm.

The air hit him like a damp fist—heavy, oppressive, and tinged with decay.

The cavern stretched before him, its walls slick with moisture, glowing faintly from bioluminescent fungi. Shadows writhed in the corners, and Dante's Six Eyes scanned the space, alert for threats.

He was limiting the range of Six eyes, why?... no reason, just for fun.

He didn't wait long.

A pack of shadow wolves slunk forward from the darkness, their sleek bodies blending with the gloom.

Their eyes burned red, and their movements were silent, predatory.

Eight of them, circling him with calculated precision.

Dante stood still, a calm smile playing on his lips.

"Alright, let's dance." He activated Infinity, bending the space around him into an untouchable barrier.

The wolves lunged, claws slashing and jaws snapping, but they crashed against the distortion, unable to reach him.

They snarled, regrouping for another strike.

"Persistent little mutts," Dante said, flicking his wrist.

A glowing orb of blue light—Blue—materialized before him, its gravitational pull warping the air.

This Blue was far from the strength Dante could put into it. A full powered Blue could mess the gravitational fields of the planets and could destroy them.

In comparison to that, this was nothing but a child's play.

With a thought, he unleashed it.

The wolves yelped as they were yanked toward the orb, slamming into each other with bone-crushing force.

Flesh tore, limbs twisted, and in seconds, they were a lifeless heap.

Dante watched the orb fade, his expression neutral.

'Too easy,' he thought.

From the battle experiences he gained from the three beings, he could easily smash this entire place.

But, getting out of here as early as possible wasn't the reason he came here. He was here to enjoy.

The ground rumbled, a warning of what lay ahead. Around a bend, three armored trolls lumbered into view—hulking brutes with stone-like skin and clubs the size of tree trunks.

A single Blue or even a few punches on them, and it would be game over for them. But, this was the first time Dante was able to use his powers with the intent to kill and he wasn't going to leave this testing opportunity.

"Hmm, so you are going to be my test subjects for the next item. I present you the..."

Their roars echoed off the walls as they charged, the cavern shaking with each step. He raised a hand, as they were summoned,

"...The Chains of Heaven."
