Chapter 65

Chapter 65

Meanwhile, Seokjae was simply puzzled as he looked at Muyoung.

‘What could he be thinking to react so badly?’

He hadn’t gotten angry, and had subtly hinted that even if Muyoung caused trouble, he could clean up after him. So Seokjae thought Muyoung would feel both sorry and touched.

‘It seems a bit much to say he’s sorry…’

However, contrary to expectations, Muyoung was so shaken that he didn’t even notice his hands were trembling slightly.

‘Is he anxious?’

Why? Do good people have some kind of disease where they’re in big trouble if they don’t get scolded when they should?

Until he met Muyoung, Seokjae had never had someone he could be truly disappointed in, even if he had been angry or annoyed before. As a result, he completely overlooked that his attitude could come as a big shock.

He didn’t care if other guys collapsed from shock or not, but Muyoung was different. He was the only one Seokjae cared about from head to toe. Seokjae didn’t realize it, but since this was his first time experiencing such feelings, he showed signs of inexperience.

‘I only meant to say enough to prevent him from doing this again.’

Seokjae clicked his tongue inwardly and grasped Muyoung’s still-trembling hands. If he was like this because he hadn’t been scolded, then scolding him should solve the problem.

“Muyoung, you know this is a very suspicious situation, right? I mean, meeting alone with someone you had a disagreement with just this morning.”

Seokjae pointed out the mistake while speaking in a gentle voice, as if soothing the seemingly frightened Muyoung.

“Yes, yes.”

As he thought, Muyoung nodded vigorously, relieved to be reprimanded.

“I know you didn’t meet that person with bad intentions. I trust you.”

“Hyung…”

“But let’s not lie from now on. The others might react differently from me, and honestly, I’m a bit hurt too. I wonder what that person said to make you hide it even from me.”

Muyoung thought he was about to lose Seokjae’s trust. He thought Seokjae would never rely on him again. But seeing his intimate reaction that showed hope, Muyoung was so happy that he finally decided to tell Seokjae the truth.

Thinking about it, Seokjae wasn’t the type to take away the bunker, and keeping secrets wasn’t a problem at all. Even when he misunderstood that Muyoung was after the food at someone else’s request, didn’t he say he’d keep it a secret from the kids and handle it?

‘Yeah, it should be okay to tell hyung.’

Honestly, he didn’t want to hurt Seokjae’s feelings anymore. And wasn’t it right to trust him as much as he trusted Muyoung?

“Actually, there’s a bunker outside.”

“A bunker?”

Even though he already knew this, Seokjae pretended to be surprised and asked again as if he had heard new information.

“I didn’t know either, but apparently there were documents about it on the second floor.”

“And they asked you to keep it a secret… because we might covet the bunker?”

“That’s right. It’s not that I thought you would do that, but I wanted to keep the promise if possible… I’m sorry for lying.”

Seokjae lightly patted Muyoung’s head as he apologized with a completely deflated expression.

“It’s okay since you told me honestly this time. So, why did they call you separately?”

“Well, they said they were grateful for the help at the hotel and asked as a way to repay us. But I really refused right away.”

“Did you?”

“Yes. I want to go all the way with you, hyung.”

Seokjae was momentarily speechless. He had brought this up on purpose because he wanted to see Muyoung reject the woman and choose him, but he didn’t expect such misleading words to come from those pretty lips.

A naughty thought crossed his mind, but Seokjae hid it with a gentle smile and said,

“I see. I’m glad. I want to go all the way with you too.”

Not realizing that the ‘end’ Seokjae was talking about had a completely different meaning from what he meant, Muyoung was just happy thinking they shared the same feelings.

“Shall we go to sleep now then?”

Seokjae, who had been gazing at Muyoung’s brightened expression as if savoring it, spoke while gently stroking the back of his small hand, which had stopped trembling.

“Yes, yes.”

Muyoung agreed vigorously, nodding his head. There was no clock hanging in the hallway so he couldn’t be sure, but it seemed quite a long time had passed since he had come out at the appointed time. Even if he was fine, Seokjae needed to rest well for tomorrow’s move.

‘Come to think of it, didn’t hyung say he was waiting for me?’

If so, since he hadn’t had a nightmare, there was no need to sleep together, right? Naturally, Muyoung, who had been planning to take Seokjae to his room, glanced at him.

‘I’d like it if we could sleep together tonight…’

He knew Seokjae’s attitude towards him hadn’t changed, but he wanted to spend a little more time together to feel secure. After a moment’s hesitation, Muyoung made his decision and squeezed their joined hands, quickly opening the door.

“Let’s go to sleep quickly.”

And he pulled Seokjae into the room, pretending not to have realized anything. Even after that, he rolled his eyes anxiously, wondering what to do if Seokjae refused, saying it was okay for tonight.

“Alright.”

Fortunately for him, Seokjae didn’t refuse. Muyoung walked to the bed, feeling relieved.

‘That’s strange. I was going to insist on sleeping together so he could rest well before moving tomorrow.’

Seokjae, who had been prepared to be pushy, was inwardly surprised by Muyoung’s unexpected reaction, as he had been avoiding sleeping together. But seeing no reason to refuse, he followed quietly without asking anything.

* * *

Thump. Thump. Thump. Thump.

The sound of someone carelessly running down the stairs echoed throughout the living room. It was the sound of Kyungho perfectly playing the role of ‘the first witness to discover the absence of the two’.

‘I hope he doesn’t fall like that.’

Muyoung looked worriedly in the direction Kyungho was likely running from, sitting in the kitchen.

Originally, this role belonged to Muyoung, who would bring breakfast to the second floor. But after receiving the not-so-flattering review of ‘cute’ for his surprised acting, which he tried at Seokjae’s request in the early morning, he decided to pass it on to someone else.

Before the food was ready, Muyoung deliberately left his seat, and in the meantime, Seokjae naturally passed the role to Kyungho. Kyungho, who didn’t sense any discomfort from Seokjae, obediently went upstairs to deliver the food, and played the surprised role excellently.

“Oh, they’re, they’re gone. There’s no one in the room.”

After a few seconds, Kyungho appeared, looking visibly flustered. He shouted to the three people gathered in the kitchen.

“What? No one’s there? What do you mean?”

“What…? The two of them aren’t in the room?”

In response to Junwoo’s reaction, who frowned as if dumbfounded, Muyoung awkwardly replied while checking the atmosphere. Seokjae, suppressing the laughter that almost burst out at Muyoung’s terrible acting skills, calmed down the panicking Kyungho.

“Calm down first. Did you check all the other rooms on the second floor?”

“Yes, I opened the door next to it too, but there was no one. Instead, I found this…”

Kyungho handed Seokjae the envelope he was holding.

[Plan]

Seokjae, taking the envelope, read the two characters written on the outside and thought he had been spared a troublesome task. Without this, he would have had to perform a ridiculous act of pretending to have accidentally found the bunker and calling them.

Of course, he could have passed over it without necessarily informing them of the whereabouts of the missing people. But those two, who were kind enough even if not as much as Muyoung, would likely wear worried expressions for a while, and seeing that, Muyoung would be restless beside them, so it was better to inform them and move on, even if it was troublesome.

‘I don’t understand why he cares so much about complete strangers. His way of thinking is… inefficient.’

Although Seokjae, who deliberately chose to keep such a kind person around, couldn’t be called efficient either, he didn’t objectively judge his own state in these aspects.

“I guess this is the plan they said they’d tell us about yesterday.”

He didn’t understand why even Muyoung was looking curiously, but Seokjae inwardly chuckled at the three people gathering around and focusing their gaze on the envelope.

“What is it?”

“Is it a document?”

Kyungho and Junwoo immediately asked before Seokjae had time to read the A4 paper he had taken out. Despite their hurried questions, Seokjae calmly checked the contents and shrugged lightly.

“Hmm. It seems we don’t need to worry.”

“What? What does it say to make you so sure?”

Junwoo, sitting across from Seokjae, leaned forward as if about to climb onto the table, unable to contain his curiosity. Seokjae chuckled at his impatient behavior and placed the paper he was holding on the table for everyone to see.

“This is… a contract?”

Junwoo, who immediately looked at the paper, read out the words written at the top. The two teenagers, who had never seen any documents other than family register certificates, were confused for a moment, but soon their eyes widened as they saw the part that said ‘Personal Bunker’ next to the project name.

“It seems there was a bunker in this house’s yard.”

Seokjae lightly tapped the table with his index finger, as if telling the two who looked dumbfounded to come to their senses.

“That person knew about this fact and that’s why they said they would stay here. Seeing that only this is here and no one is in the room, it seems they’ve already evacuated to the bunker.”

At his neat summary, Junwoo, who had been in a daze, let out a hollow laugh.
