Ch. 19
Chapter 19: Do You Know You’ve Got a Ghost at Home?
It was well known that those with the surname Yuan were naturally disdainful of those with the surname Dong, probably a rule passed down from their ancestors.
Dong Dawei was humiliated when Yuan Meng openly questioned him in front of everyone, and though he was furious, all he could do was let out an angry outburst.
If it had been another employee, firing them would have been no issue, but Yuan Meng was different — even the General Manager had to coax her.
Of course, the most important reason was that Dong Dawei had secretly tried to approach several of Yuan Meng’s major clients, but without exception, they all rejected him.
They would not even meet him, let alone cooperate.
In the end, the only outcome was Dong Dawei leaving harsh words behind, telling Yuan Meng to “just wait,” before driving everyone back to work.
The others had no choice but to return to overtime.
After all, not every ordinary employee had the same courage as Yuan Meng.
And although Yuan Meng voiced what was on everyone’s mind, she was not a leader.
So overtime still had to be worked.
Even if one wanted to resign or confront the management, they would have to wait until the company’s higher-ups showed themselves.
In the past few days, only today did Dong Dawei show his face in the company, and as for the other leaders, they were nowhere to be seen — even Liu Rushuang was absent.
“You sure you don’t want to leave with us and instead stay to work overtime?” Yuan Meng looked at Zhang Wei’s round, pale face and asked.
Zhang Wei gave a bitter smile.
“Yuan God, how could I compare with you? I’m just here to make a living. Since the company pays me, I can’t exactly eat their food but ignore their words, can I?”
Zhang Wei was no fresh graduate.
He had been in society for a few years and understood the most basic truths.
Coming out to work was all about money.
The boss paid you wages, so naturally, you listened to them.
If you didn’t want to, you could quit.
Of course, you could also choose to fight the commander, and at worst get fired, but that required not being afraid of unemployment.
If it had been when he just graduated, maybe in a fit of anger, he would have followed them and quit.
At worst, he would resign.
If one place did not keep him, another would.
If no one did, he could go self-employed.
Why should he endure such humiliation?
But after a few years of working, he seemed to have become just another ordinary face in the crowd.
“Fine, if you want to work overtime, then work overtime. But what’s with this ‘Yuan God’ thing?” Yuan Meng looked at the two of them warily, afraid they were giving her some weird nickname.
Hearing this, Lin Mo hurriedly said, “It’s because you displayed divine power today, Yuan God. You’ve got guts! This is a title of respect. Brother Wei even said he wants to be your dog!”
Zhang Wei shot Lin Mo a sideways glance and then nodded.
“That’s right, Yuan God, you really deserve to be one of Yongjie’s Tridents. You’re the boldest woman I’ve ever seen, definitely worthy of the name Yuan God!”
If Yuan Meng ever found out they were using her name as a running joke, then these two would probably meet the same fate as someone who “lost their mom out of carelessness.”
“That’s more like it.” Yuan Meng was very satisfied with her performance today, then looked at Zhang Wei again.
“But as for Yongjie’s Tridents, looks like we’re disbanding today. I’m the blade, Little Mo is the shaft, and you, unsurprisingly, should be the handle.”
“Handle, you stay here and work overtime. The two of us are leaving!”
Saying that, she dragged Lin Mo away, both of them cheerfully clocking out.
Zhang Wei was left alone, stunned in the wind.
Meanwhile, Lin Mo and Yuan Meng got into the car and drove straight to the commercial street.
Once again, they bought the same porcelain bottle as last time, preparing to make some secret face cream for Yuan Meng’s mother.
After all, they had already taken the money.
They then took the bank card to the nearest bank to deposit the cash.
After all, it was unwise to flaunt such a large amount of money in cash.
“Yuan God, you really went all out.”
Walking out of the bank, Lin Mo had now become a regular university student with 220,000 yuan in his account.
He never would have thought that the most valuable items on the shopping page weren’t gold or silver, but rather these everyday goods.
“It’s just business. You might make a small profit, but your sister here will never lose.” Yuan Meng tossed the small porcelain jar in her hand with a smile.
This sum of money was nothing to her in the first place.
Now that she had earned several times more from her mother, she had practically won big.
“By the way, how much more of this stuff do you have? Do you know how to make it? I have a bold idea.” Yuan Meng asked after thinking for a moment.
Hearing this, Lin Mo quickly shook his head.
“About two more portions, that’s it. I only got it by chance. I don’t know if I’ll ever come across it again.”
Of course, he knew what Yuan Meng meant — she had her eyes on the formula.
With such good effects, naturally she wanted to expand and scale it up.
But he simply didn’t have it.
The shopping platform refreshed its items daily at random.
Who knew if he would ever encounter it again?
It was exactly for this reason that, from the beginning, he had insisted it was a secret recipe he had come across by chance.
There was only so much of it and it couldn’t be mass-produced.
In fact, to prevent drawing unwanted attention, he was extremely careful about whom he traded with.
Otherwise, it would be easy for others to covet it.
Yuan Meng, however, was a pretty good choice.
“What a pity.” Yuan Meng sighed.
If this skincare product could be mass-produced, it would be an unimaginable fortune.
Fortunately, her mindset was good.
Upon hearing the supply was limited, she was even happier.
After all, it felt great to have something unique that no one else could get.
“By the way, if you want to sell the rest of your stock, I’ll help you find some buyers later. I guarantee you’ll get a good price.” Yuan Meng patted her chest, which wasn’t there to begin with.
Lin Mo nodded happily at this.
Sure enough, having someone to rely on was nice.
If it were up to him to sell it, he wouldn’t even know where to start.
“Come on, let’s go eat!” Yuan Meng called out.
Hearing this, Lin Mo, who had just received a huge sum, spoke generously.
“Alright, today’s my treat!”
“Not today. Your sister here is taking you to freeload a meal!”
With that, she started the car, leaving Lin Mo staring with a puzzled face.
Half an hour later, the two walked into a restaurant geared more toward business gatherings.
“Yuan Jie, is it really okay for me to come freeload like this?” Lin Mo had been muttering for quite a while.
“Stop talking nonsense. We’re already here. Besides, it’s not like you haven’t met her before.”
Saying that, Yuan Meng pushed open the door, her face serious as she stormed in, loudly declaring:
“Liu Rushuang, can you even manage the company? General Manager Yang Chuan has been messing around with random commands, and what happened? Everyone followed him! And now he’s coming up with pay cuts and unpaid overtime. Is this company run by Yang or what?”
After finishing, Yuan Meng sat down opposite Liu Rushuang, still fuming.
Only, paired with her looks, the anger gave her an oddly adorable fierceness.
Sitting across from her, Liu Rushuang wore a white long skirt paired with an off-shoulder blouse.
She looked elegant, her hair still tied up, less sharp and professional, but more graceful.
Hearing this, Liu Rushuang couldn’t help but purse her lips in a smile.
“So what should I do? My whole life, I’ve walked on thin ice.”
Yuan Meng gave a cold laugh.
“Do I really need to teach you? Do you even realize you’ve got a ghost at home?”
“A ghost? Who’s the ghost?”
“Why are you looking at me? Is it me, or is it him?” Yuan Meng pointed at Lin Mo, who had just walked in.
Lin Mo: …
Liu Rushuang tilted her head, looked at Lin Mo, her lips slightly curved, then continued to play along with Yuan Meng’s little act.
“What do you want me to do?”
“Find him right now, kill him! I want him dead!”
“Nai-i-zu-te? Hehehe…” Liu Rushuang tried to say it but burst out laughing halfway.
Lin Mo frowned at the two of them.
When these two got together, there was too much nonsense to keep up with!
