Chapter 2: 2: The King
As the word "King" echoed in my ears, a shiver surged through my spine, igniting a wildfire deep within me.
Goosebumps. Yes, that's what this was—an overwhelming sensation that sent my blood roaring through my veins.
A volcano of excitement threatened to erupt, a primal surge of something both intoxicating and dangerous. But with only half of my willpower, I managed to steady myself, forcing my emotions back into submission.
Before I let excitement consume me, I needed answers.
My gaze remained fixed on the kneeling woman before me. Her horned beauty was undeniable—exotic, otherworldly, and yet… strangely familiar.
Parting my lips, I spoke, my voice calm and controlled.
"Firstly, I need to know where I am. Secondly, what do you mean by 'King'? And thirdly, what was that bright light in the classroom?"
The moment my words reached her ears, something changed.
A visible flicker ran through her body, as if my voice had activated a hidden switch within her. Her violet eyes shimmered with an unreadable depth, and for a fleeting moment, the air itself trembled.
And then—everything shifted.
The world around me twisted, blurred, and reshaped itself. Unlike before, I couldn't see through the process, couldn't comprehend the mechanics of this change.
By the time my vision stabilized, I found myself standing within an exquisitely furnished bedchamber.
The atmosphere exuded medieval elegance—dark mahogany walls, crimson drapes embroidered with golden sigils, and a grand canopy bed that exuded both authority and indulgence. Chandeliers cast a warm glow, flickering against the polished marble floors, their dim light reflecting against the intricate patterns carved into the walls.
The woman—no, the demoness—rose gracefully from her kneeling position.
Her voice, smooth and laced with reverence, caressed the air between us.
"My King, please—relax yourself upon the bed, and I shall explain everything you wish to know."
A lingering silence stretched between us, thick with the weight of the unknown.
My gaze remained locked onto the demoness—Queen Iris De Luna, as she had named herself.
Despite her alluring beauty, what intrigued me more was the certainty in her voice, the unwavering reverence in her stance.
I hesitated only for a moment before stepping forward, sinking onto the bed as she had instructed. The mattress was impossibly soft, molding around my frame as if it had been crafted for me alone.
I leaned back slightly, crossing my arms as I met her gaze. "Speak," I commanded.
Her lips curled into the faintest smile, though reverence still colored her expression. "Very well, my King. Allow me to answer your first question."
She took a step forward, the heels of her boots barely making a sound against the marble floor.
"We are in the Realm of Demons—the true home of your bloodline. It is a realm far above the one you have known. Here, power is absolute, and only the strong dictate their fate. This kingdom, this land, this entire world… belongs to you."
I listened in silence, the weight of her words sinking into me. The Realm of Demons? If this was truly a realm above Earth, then everything I had ever known was nothing more than a lower existence.
"And what of the bright light in the classroom?" I asked.
Her expression darkened slightly, and for the first time, I sensed something lurking behind her composed facade—fury.
"Those markings were summoning seals, cast by the cultivators of the Ancient Human Realm," she revealed.
"A high-ranking realm that rivals our own in strength. Their intent was not to summon all of you—only you, my King. Your classmates were merely collateral damage, pulled in by mistake."
I frowned. "Summon me? For what purpose?"
"To capture you."
The words hung in the air like a blade poised above my throat.
"They know who you are, my King. Even if your memories have been sealed, even if your identity was hidden among the weak, those who fear your return have not forgotten you. They wished to seize you before you could awaken—before you could reclaim what is yours."
I exhaled slowly, digesting this revelation. If what she said was true, then I wasn't just some random person dragged into this. I was targeted.
Which led to the third question—the one that mattered most.
"And what proof do you have that I am this 'King' you claim me to be?" I asked, tilting my head slightly.
She took another step forward, this time close enough that I could feel the warmth radiating from her. Her violet eyes locked onto mine, and for the first time since meeting her, a powerful aura surged from her body—a suffocating presence that would have crushed any lesser being.
But to me… it felt familiar. Almost welcoming.
"Because, my King…" she said softly, "I am one of your ten Soulbound Slaves—beings whose strength rivals the rulers of other realms, yet whose very existence belongs solely to you. I am Iris De Luna, the Queen of Demons, but more importantly, I am yours."
Her voice was unwavering, absolute.
"Through our bond, I can sense my Master's presence, no matter where you are, no matter what form you take. And right now, that presence is radiating from you."
I said nothing, but something deep within me—something primal and ancient—stirred.
The world I knew had just crumbled before me, and in its place, a new reality took form.
I leaned back slightly, absorbing every word Iris had spoken. This realm, my so-called true home, was already intriguing enough—but the revelation of my identity, the knowledge that I was once a ruler of unparalleled might, was something else entirely.
But one question still nagged at me, lingering in the back of my mind like a persistent whisper.
If she is one of my Soulbound Slaves… where are the other nine?
My eyes narrowed slightly as I voiced my fourth question.
"Where are the other nine?"
The shift in Iris's expression was immediate.
All the reverence, the unwavering devotion, the strength she had carried in her voice—vanished.
Her face darkened, her gaze dropping slightly. A veil of sorrow settled over her features, and when she finally parted her lips to speak, her voice was soft, almost fragile.
"They were killed."
A pause.
Then, in that same quiet, broken voice, she continued.
"By the rulers of the other High-Ranking Realms. With your disappearance, they saw an opportunity to strike. The Elven Realm, the Dwarven Realm, the Angel Realm, and the Ancient Human Realm... they tricked my beloved sisters and slaughtered them when they least expected it."
Iris clenched her fists, her body trembling ever so slightly.
Even without understanding the full depth of our past, I could feel it.
The wrath in her heart.
And as that wrath reached me, something inside me snapped.
A force—something primal, unregistered, and ancient—awoke within me, stirring like a beast unchained.
Pain—excruciating, searing, all-consuming pain—erupted through my entire body.
My vision blurred as an unseen force tore through my veins, my muscles, my very bones. It was as if my entire being was shattering, reforming, and then shattering again.
Iris's expression shifted instantly from sorrow to alarm.
"No!" she gasped, lunging forward as I collapsed forward, my body convulsing in agony.
A flicker of realization flashed through her eyes, and her worry deepened.
"I… I forgot…" she whispered. "Your body—it's been absorbing demonic energy this entire time."
The pain only grew worse.
I could feel it—the transformation.
Without my acknowledgment, without my control, my body had been greedily absorbing the surrounding demonic energy the moment I arrived in this realm. The energy had been waiting, settling within me like a dormant storm, and now—now it was unleashing itself all at once.
This was no mere surge of power.
This was the beginning of my transition—the restoration of my true demonic body.
I wasn't regaining my full power, not yet, but this… this was the first step.
I gritted my teeth, my nails digging into my palms as I fought against the overwhelming pain—but it was too much.
My body gave out.
The last thing I saw was Iris, her violet eyes filled with concern, as my collapsing form was caught within her embrace.
And then—darkness.
