Chapter 94: FTRJ: Chapter 94
From Makarov's tone, and the recent rumors, Finn had a pretty good idea what was going on.
He nodded and left the guild with Makarov.
"So it really is that," Mirajane said to Erza, watching them go. "Finn's finally reached this point!"
Erza folded her arms, a happy expression on her face. "The gap between us and Finn is getting bigger!"
Magic Council Headquarters.
Makarov and Finn stood at the entrance.
Makarov said quietly, "Because of the Tower of Heaven and Phantom Lord incidents, there are vacancies among the Ten Wizard Saints."
"And the new Magic Council needs achievements. That's why you're here."
Makarov's eyes were filled with pride. "You've finally reached this point."
"But Master, others in our guild are also strong enough to be Ten Wizard Saints. Why not them?" Finn said. He didn't care much for the title.
It was glamorous, but responsibility came with the honor. Like Makarov, a respected Ten Wizard Saint, but also burdened with protecting the magical world. Finn preferred freedom.
"You brat, don't think I don't know what you're thinking. Your public image is high, and you were crucial in the Tower of Heaven incident. This position is yours," Makarov said, tapping Finn's head. "Others would kill for this, and you're trying to refuse?"
He led Finn to the door, taking a deep breath. "Go. Open this door. Inside is supreme glory!"
Finn scratched his head. "If I can't refuse, I won't embarrass you."
Finn opened the door. Rows of Frogmen stood in two lines; a red carpet led to a platform.
"Mr. Finn, please enter!" The Frogmen bowed, gesturing.
They guided him to the highest position.
Finn walked the red carpet, up the stairs, to the highest point. Opposite were the new council members.
Grand Doma, the new council chairman, stepped forward.
"Finn, Fairy Tail member." The chairman said.
"As a member of the bright magic world, Finn has always upheld the light, single-handedly taking down many dark guilds, stopping Phantom Lord's attack on Fairy Tail, and defeating the fallen Ten Wizard Saint Jose."
"He stopped the forbidden magic, Tower of Heaven, and defeated the traitor, Jellal. His achievements are outstanding."
"Therefore, the council bestows upon Finn the honor of Ten Wizard Saint. We hope you continue to work for the future of the bright magic world!"
Two Frogmen presented two trays.
The chairman took the Ten Wizard Saint cape with a silver cross and draped it over Finn. Then, he took a silver cross badge and pinned it to Finn's chest.
"Thank you for the council and the people's recognition," Finn said politely.
Everyone stood; it was respect for a Ten Wizard Saint. They applauded the new Saint.
Makarov looked proud and relieved.
"Child, I wish you even greater glory!" Makarov genuinely wished for Finn's success. He wanted his child to truly spread his wings and fly!
Dusk fell. After Finn became a Ten Wizard Saint, trouble came. First, congratulations from countless people.
Those present were all powerful figures. Finn even saw his childhood friend, Princess Emerald, representing the royal family.
Their conversation was interrupted. Everyone wanted to befriend the new Ten Wizard Saint. Ten Wizard Saints were the pinnacle of the magic world. After congratulations came countless interviews. Finn finally left after a busy day.
The news spread rapidly throughout the kingdom.
In a city, Laxus looked at a newspaper. It showed Finn in his Ten Wizard Saint attire. Laxus smiled.
"He deserves it. But that expression…annoying," Laxus shook his head. "He's a Ten Wizard Saint, yet I'm still paying for the Kardia Cathedral."
…
Laxus stood up. "No, I need to become a Ten Wizard Saint too! Or he'll look down on me!"
At Mermaid Heel, Wendy held the latest newspaper, excited. "Carla, look! Big brother Finn is a Ten Wizard Saint!"
"I can see it from here!" Carla said, annoyed that Wendy was pushing the paper into her face.
"Ah! I'm sorry, I'm sorry…" Wendy apologized.
"Sigh…" Carla sighed. She couldn't fix Wendy's weakness.
"But Carla, when will we see big brother Finn again?" Wendy hugged the newspaper, remembering yesterday.
"Were you drugged by Finn?" Carla shook her head.
"No, I admire him. He's strong and kind…"
Carla sighed. "Let's visit Fairy Tail sometime."
Wendy beamed. "Really? Let's tell the Master when he's back!"
"Alright, alright. I can't stand it," Carla said, though she smiled seeing Wendy happy. Wendy was always protected in the guild, never seeing the outside world. Magic Weekly News was her only view of it.
"It's time Wendy saw the world," Carla thought.
"Wow! So Finn's a Ten Wizard Saint! Amazing!" At Fairy Tail, people surrounded Finn.
"I can't believe we have two Ten Wizard Saints! That's incredible!" Macao said, taking a swig of his drink.
"Yeah, these guys have really grown into strong, independent wizards," Wakaba said wistfully. These two had been in the guild since Gildarts' time; true veterans who had witnessed the guild's rise to become the kingdom's best.
"Wow! Finn's a Ten Wizard Saint! If I beat him, that means I'm stronger than a Ten Wizard Saint!" Natsu exclaimed, his excitement bubbling over.
Natsu ran to Finn, fists clenched, brimming with energy. "So Finn, let's settle this once and for all!"
"Hey, Natsu, have you completely lost your mind? Finn's a Ten Wizard Saint now, and you're actually challenging him to a fight?!" Gray tried to reason with Natsu, gently tugging at his sleeve.
Natsu turned to Gray, a puzzled expression on his face. "But it's precisely because Finn has become a Ten Wizard Saint that makes the prospect of a challenge even more appealing!" With that, he shrugged off Gray's hand.
"Prepare to be blown away!" Natsu declared, his fists ablaze with fiery magic, charging towards Finn.
Finn, who had been engaged in conversation with others, didn't even bother to look at Natsu. With a slight turn of his head, he effortlessly dodged Natsu's punch, swiftly grabbing Natsu's arm and flinging him outwards with a casual flick of his wrist.
Bang— The sound of Natsu crashing through a wall.
"Ah!" A scream of pain and surprise echoed through the guild hall as Natsu was sent flying.
Gray rolled his eyes heavenward. "I knew it…" he muttered under his breath.
"Love it, that's Natsu for you!" Happy remained serenely seated at the bar, calmly munching on his fish snacks, showing absolutely no concern for Natsu's antics.
After a considerable amount of time spent dealing with the throng of congratulatory guild members, Finn finally managed to find a moment to sit down at the bar. He took a long sip of the milk Mirajane had offered him, letting out a long sigh of relief.
"So, this Ten Wizard Saint title is seriously exhausting," Finn commented, feeling utterly drained. He had lost track of how many people he had had to engage with over the past couple of days.
"Well, everyone's just so happy for you," Mirajane said with a gentle smile, continuing to wipe down the bar counter.
Finn waved his hand dismissively. "Let's not talk about that. By the way, what's wrong with Lucy?" Finn's gaze shifted towards Lucy, who was sitting listlessly to one side.
"Lucy's seemed a bit down since yesterday," Happy recalled.
"Lucy told me about it. Her father came to see her yesterday. Apparently, his business went bankrupt, and it seems they don't have a very good relationship," Mirajane explained, her gaze also falling upon Lucy, a hint of concern in her eyes.
"Bankrupt? A business of that scale could go bankrupt?" Finn recalled the first time he had visited Lucy's family estate. The sheer size of their manor alone was comparable to an entire town.
And that was just the manor. Considering all her family's other holdings, it wasn't an exaggeration to say that they were practically as wealthy as a kingdom.
Yet, such an immense business empire had vanished overnight, a fact that left Finn feeling a sense of profound melancholy.
"But she did say that everything's been resolved now, and that we shouldn't worry about her," Mirajane added.
Upon hearing Mirajane's words, Finn nodded, deciding not to dwell on the matter any further. After all, everyone had their own personal lives to manage, and since Lucy hadn't sought assistance from the guild, it was clear that she was capable of handling the situation on her own.
"Speaking of which, why didn't the Master come back with you?" Erza asked, her gaze sweeping across the guild hall in search of Makarov, her curiosity piqued by his absence.
"The Master was called away to attend an emergency council meeting as soon as he returned," Finn explained.
"An emergency council meeting?" Erza's brow furrowed slightly, her interest piqued. Regular council meetings were typically held only once a year, so an emergency meeting indicated that a matter of significant urgency had arisen.
"Is something important happening?" Mirajane asked, her voice laced with concern.
Finn pondered for a moment. "I don't know the specifics yet, but it's safe to say that the dark guild Oracion Seis seems to be making their move."
These individuals were like rats lurking in the shadows, constantly plotting and scheming, ready to unleash a devastating blow upon the bright magic world at any moment.
"Oracion Seis?" Gray, standing nearby, chimed in, his expression indicating that he was unfamiliar with the name.
Noticing Gray's unfamiliarity with the name, Finn turned towards Reedus and said, "Reedus, could I borrow your light pen for a moment?"
Once he had the light pen in his possession, Finn began to draw in the air, his movements swift and precise.
The guild members quickly gathered around, their curiosity piqued by Finn's actions.
"What is that?" Lucy asked, her voice laced with confusion as she gazed at the various interconnected boxes and the guild names inscribed within them.
"I'm trying to draw a chart outlining the organizational structure of the dark guilds," Finn responded.
After adding the final stroke to complete his drawing, Finn returned the light pen to Reedus.
Erza's eyes widened in surprise as she examined the completed organizational chart. "Looking at it this way, you realize just how many there actually are!"
"And what about that large circle in the center?" Gray asked, pointing towards the large circle at the heart of the diagram.
