Chapter 159: Chapter 159: Ryuu Lion

It was truly because Charles was completely unprepared for Seer's appearance that he instinctively focused all his attention on speaking with this incarnation of a goddess.

So he didn't immediately notice that someone else was with her.

By the time he realized it, Ryuu had already seen the item in Charles's hand that originally belonged to her enemy.

Five years ago, for the sake of revenge, Ryuu had cast aside all her pride as an elf, her commitment to justice, even her patron deity and her own life.

Now, even just seeing an item was enough to make her lose control.

The shopping bag fell to the ground, and the fruits and vegetables inside scattered everywhere.

"Wait…!"

Charles didn't even have time to speak before Ryuu closed the distance between them.

She clearly had no intention of listening to any explanation. Without hesitation, she launched an attack, whipping a leg toward him.

Charles didn't counterattack. Instead, he pushed Seer aside and stepped back to dodge the kick.

Ryuu's whip kick smashed into the stone wall corner, shattering it instantly.

Seer, who had been gently pushed to a safe distance by Charles's skilled movement, showed an intrigued expression.

Ryuu was a top-tier adventurer even among Level 4s, and now she was attacking in a fit of rage without holding back in the slightest.

Yet not only did this person effortlessly dodge her strike, he also managed to protect her at the same time. How could she not be intrigued by such an interesting adventurer arriving in Orario?

She wanted to see more—more of this mysterious young man.

So, according to "Seer's" personality, she should've stopped Ryuu's rampage right away, but instead she chose to watch from the sidelines.

Charles had no idea that a certain goddess's "bad girl" nature had emerged, and Ryuu, just as she'd hoped, showed no signs of stopping.

The title of "adventurer" was something those gods-for-fun had granted them, but it often truly reflected the nature of those who bore it.

Ryuu's title was "Gale," and her attacks were indeed like a storm wind. Though she wasn't carrying any weapons, her barehanded strikes could pulverize monsters even in the dungeon's middle floors.

But when it came to martial skill, this elf lady still couldn't match Charles.

Ryuu thrust a knife-hand strike at him, but Charles simply reached out and grabbed her wrist, completely neutralizing the attack.

Even though Ryuu had lost control, her combat instincts remained. To intercept her knife-hand so precisely—this opponent was no weakling.

But right now, she couldn't care less about the identity of her opponent. The blood of her close friend still seemed to flow before her eyes. How could she possibly let anyone related to that bastard go?

She pressed down with her arm and launched a side kick toward Charles's head, trying to force him to release her wrist.

Charles understood why Ryuu had lost her mind, but that didn't mean he was willing to get hit.

He yanked the wrist he was holding, swinging her entire body up and throwing her far away.

Ryuu, being an adventurer with immense battle experience, flipped midair and landed steadily on the ground.

The force that burst from her feet shattered the ground beneath her. Using that momentum, she rushed at Charles once more.

Her petite fists launched blow after blow, the sound of air being pierced merging into a constant hum.

But even this storm-like barrage couldn't break through Charles's defense.

His hands blocked, redirected, and sometimes directly clashed with her strikes, perfectly neutralizing Ryuu's assault.

Seer's eyes grew brighter and brighter from the sidelines. She truly hadn't expected to encounter such a "surprise" today.

'Level 5? No—Level 6?' Seer silently assessed Charles's displayed strength while pondering his origins.

Ryuu's attacks grew even faster; apparently, her frustration at not landing a hit was making her impatient.

And impatience, in Charles's eyes, meant the appearance of an opening.

As expected, even a Level 4 adventurer couldn't maintain such high-intensity offense forever. Charles quickly spotted the opportunity he'd been waiting for.

He raised his arm and deflected Ryuu's punch. As her stance fell into disarray, Charles slipped into her defenses like a nimble fish.

His elbow struck her other arm at a spot where the muscle was thinnest, causing it to go limp instantly.

Immediately afterward, Charles raised his hand to grasp her shoulder and forced her down.

Ryuu felt half her body go numb and couldn't help but bend forward.

Charles didn't dare prolong the fight. If this continued, Ryuu's remaining reason would vanish completely.

If she really lost control and started casting magic here without restraint, things would spiral out of hand.

Even though Charles had successfully subdued Ryuu now, he was already starting to worry about how he would explain this whole incident to the Guild.

Feeling Ryuu still struggling under his grip, Charles quickly said, "Miss over there, could you not just stand there and watch? Say something already!"

Seer seemed to finally come to her senses and ran over, saying, "Ryuu, what's wrong? Calm down!"

Seer's words worked, successfully bringing Ryuu back to her senses.

Though the cold, fierce aura still lingered, Charles could tell that her emotions had settled down.

"Sir, I've calmed down. Please release me," Ryuu said.

After being subdued, she had already sobered up significantly and realized she'd been too impulsive.

And Seer's voice had fully restored her clarity.

Charles let go of her, and Ryuu moved her arm and stood back up straight.

Seer asked with concern, "Ryuu, are you okay? Are you hurt?"

Charles secretly curled his lips—where was this warmth and concern just moments ago?

Ryuu said with a bit of guilt, "I'm sorry. I acted rashly and made you worry."

Then, turning to Charles, she said, "I also owe you an apology, sir. I'm sorry I attacked you without understanding the situation.

However, could you please tell me in detail about that item you're holding?"

Charles took the earring he had put into his pocket before the fight and said, "Although I promised my goddess to keep this matter confidential, since it's related to you, Miss Ryuu, I don't mind sharing it with you."

At that moment, Charles's stomach growled in protest again.

He rubbed his belly and said, "Pardon me, I was just on my way to eat."

Seer stepped in with a smile, "Perfect timing. This isn't the place to talk anyway. Why don't you come to our shop? The food at our place is the best in Orario.

And we can count it as an apology for Ryuu's outburst—she'll be paying for the meal."

Ryuu also bowed and said, "Please allow me to make amends!"

Charles nodded and said, "Then I won't be polite. But don't complain if this meal empties your allowance, Miss Ryuu."

Ryuu looked at him and said, "Please go ahead. No amount of money can make up for the trouble my rudeness has caused you."

Looking at Ryuu's serious expression, Charles couldn't help but feel a little awkward. It seemed this elf lady truly didn't understand what it meant to joke.
