Chapter 26: Chapter 26: A Guild Is Where Companions Gather
Chapter 26: A Guild Is Where Companions Gather
Moen couldn't help but laugh.
A little girl who claimed to be a dragon's daughter,
and a shy rich kid who didn't know how to make friends…
meeting together in a dangerous forest?
What a bizarre duo.
"Moen. Moen Dorea."
"Mage of Fairy Tail."
He answered plainly, shouldering his pack once more.
There was no time to waste—he had a job to finish.
"Mmm… Fairy Tail?"
Behind him, Wendy stirred from her slumber.
Her voice was drowsy, and her tiny figure swayed slightly.
She had caught just the tail end of Moen's words,
and now stared at his fading silhouette in confusion.
"Jellal… what's Fairy Tail?"
"It's a guild,"
Jellal replied quietly, his expression unreadable.
"A guild? What's that?"
Wendy rubbed her eyes, still not quite awake.
Her big, round eyes blinked up at him, full of innocence.
"A guild… is a place where companions gather."
Jellal adjusted his tone, smiling faintly.
"Then… can I go to a guild too?"
"If I join… I won't be alone anymore, right?"
Wendy's eyes sparkled with hope.
Her voice trembled with anticipation.
"…Yes. I'll help you find a guild."
The words left Jellal's lips with a warm smile.
Wendy's earnest longing touched something inside him.
Besides—
he was about to embark on something far too dangerous.
Leaving Wendy in a safe place was the best thing he could do.
And as he thought about where that safe place could be,
"Fairy Tail" immediately came to mind.
Too bad he hadn't asked for more details…
Meanwhile, Moen had already gone his own way.
But even as he ventured deeper into the forest,
his mind occasionally drifted back to the pair he'd just left behind.
Especially Wendy.
There was something about her…
Something that tugged at his thoughts.
"Wendy and Natsu… there has to be a connection."
Wendy claimed not to know Natsu,
and her "mother" was a Sky Dragon,
while Natsu's "father" was a Fire Dragon.
On the surface, it made no sense.
But both kids had lost their dragons at nearly the same time.
Both dragons had vanished without a trace.
Too much of a coincidence.
"So dragons still exist in this era, huh…"
Moen couldn't deny it anymore.
He used to think dragons were just ancient legends—
but now? Two living "children of dragons" stood before him.
That wasn't legend. That was reality.
The magic crystals made from dragon hearts,
known as Dragon Slayer Lacrima,
proved that dragons once existed—
But Wendy and Natsu?
They proved that dragons might still exist now.
"And what's with dragons and adopting human kids?"
"Is that a thing?"
He couldn't wrap his head around it.
But he had a growing conviction—
he should've brought Wendy back to the guild.
Too bad…
Back when they were together,
he'd been so focused on Jellal's weird magic staff
that he'd totally forgotten about the little girl dozing peacefully on the side.
"Crack! "
Moen twisted another magic horn free from a fallen lizard.
He tossed it into his pack without ceremony.
Eighteen now.
Just a few more and he'd hit his target.
Then he could decide—
Head home?
Or… stay a little longer?
Moen sighed.
There was no use chasing after Jellal and Wendy now.
With the map he gave them, they were probably long gone.
They might have even made it out of the Warth Forest by now.
Catching up with them? Not likely.
[Ding! Quest Triggered!]
Quest Title: "A Guild Is Where No One Gets Left Behind!"
Quest Objective:
Wendy and Mystogan are both members of your guild—yet they've gone astray.
Go, bring them back!
Reunite your comrades. Fairy Tail doesn't leave a single soul behind!
Quest Progress:
• Invite Mystogan to join: ❌ Not Complete
• Invite Wendy Marvell to join: ❌ Not Complete
Quest Rewards:
• Invite one: Receive a Random Bronze Cloth
• Invite both: Receive the Cloth Repair Manual
Just as Moen was kicking himself for forgetting to invite Wendy to the guild,
the Saint Seiya System decided to chime in.
"Are you kidding me?! Now you show up?"
He rolled his eyes so hard they nearly flipped backward.
"Why didn't you trigger this when I actually met them?!
Now they're long gone, and you want me to chase them across the country?
Switch servers, man. This lag is criminal."
Despite the complaints echoing through his mind,
Moen's body moved on its own.
He turned around and bolted—racing along the same path he'd drawn for them on the map.
Wendy's legs were short. If luck was on his side, maybe they hadn't gone far yet.
Pack on his back, Moen sprinted through the trees,
mind spinning as he digested the system's latest info dump.
First, that name: Mystogan.
He didn't know it—but it had to be Jellal.
Too much of a coincidence otherwise.
"Must be his real name… or maybe an alias?"
After all, traveling alone in dangerous places?
People often changed names to protect themselves.
But what really caught his attention was the guild part.
"They're both from Fairy Tail?"
That couldn't be right. He would've seen them before if that were true.
"Wait… Maybe the system means they will be part of Fairy Tail someday?"
That made more sense.
It wasn't the first time the system hinted at things beyond the present.
Still…
"Wouldn't be surprised if it was just messing with me again."
He stopped overthinking.
Because the rewards?
Those were very real.
A random Bronze Cloth for inviting one of them.
The Cloth Repair Manual for bringing back both?
Now that was tempting.
Sure, Cloths auto-repaired inside the Cloth Box,
but only for minor scratches and wear.
Severe damage? You'd need real craftsmanship to fix that.
And in this world?
That kind of knowledge didn't even exist.
Back in the world of Saint Seiya,
repairing a Cloth was a lost art—
buried along with the destruction of Mu.
But now, with that manual?
Moen could be the only one in this world who knew how.
He even had some of the materials ready—
like Silver Star Sand and other rare components
from completing weird system side quests in the past.
Until now, he hadn't really known what to do with them.
Heart pounding with excitement,
Moen charged through the forest like a wild boar—headfirst and relentless.
But…
By the time he burst out of Warth Forest…
No sign of Wendy. No sign of Jellal.
He stood at the tree line, wind brushing past his bangs.
"Tch… I really took too long, huh."
He had run into two more Magic Horned Lizards along the way.
And being the responsible mage he was, he'd finished them off to complete the job.
Maybe that had caused a delay.
But it wasn't enough to blame.
Even now, Moen wasn't ready to give up.
He adjusted the strap on his pack and set off again.
"No way those two outpaced me that badly.
If I keep searching… maybe I'll catch up."
