Fairy Tail: Strongest Creature

Chapter 135: Darkness

High atop Nirvana, Cobra was celebrating prematurely.

"Hah! We finally have it, Brain! Nirvana's in our hands!"

"Incredible," he continued, looking around excitedly at the ancient city beneath his feet. "This is the legacy of the ancients—Cubellios. Look at it—how magnificent."

Brain, filled with high spirits, gestured at the vast landscape. "Behold, Cobra, this world is ours for the taking. This ancient people's city is Nirvana's true form. As long as we remain in the 'king's chamber,' we can steer this city however we please."

"Steer it…where?" Cobra asked, eyes glittering. "Is there a guild you've already singled out?"

"Yes," Brain said, lifting his staff. "We'll begin with the root of the 'light' we detest. You could call it the starting line for destroying all light."

With that, he activated a magic circle.

"Advance, Ancient City!"

"Let my darkness become light!!!"

Boom—!!

Nirvana's colossal legs rumbled, slowly lurching forward. The entire edifice began lumbering in one direction.

Below, Lucy and the others gazed upward in alarm.

"It's moving?!" Lucy exclaimed.

"Where's it headed?" Erza muttered uneasily. She had a bad feeling about this.

Suddenly, the Blue Pegasus team's telepathic voice echoed in everyone's mind.

"Hello—can everyone hear me? Oración Seis has seized Nirvana. Please, you must stop them!"

"What is Nirvana, exactly?!" someone demanded.

"It's a terrifying magic that interchanges light and darkness," came the reply. "If it's unleashed on any regular guild, it'll twist their hearts, forcing them to kill each other! We must stop it now, or every Light Guild will be annihilated."

"What?!" Those words made their hearts clench. The thought of a guild being brainwashed into mutual slaughter was too horrifying to contemplate.

"I'm not letting that happen!" Natsu roared, flames igniting at his feet.

"Happy!"

"Aye, sir!" Happy grabbed Natsu's shoulders and took flight toward Nirvana.

Wendy looked hopefully at Su Yan. "Brother Su Yan…"

Su Yan nodded firmly. "Carla, stay with Wendy. I'm going to destroy that thing."

"Be careful!" Wendy pleaded.

Su Yan gave a faint smile. "Don't worry. It's no big deal."

He dashed off, accelerating until he reached the gargantuan walking structure. In moments, he stood before the mighty leg of Nirvana, its massive pillar-like limb trampling the forest below.

Om—!!

Su Yan raised his hand, channeling his power into a purple, crackling sword of what looked like compressed energy—his fierce combination of Haki.

"Cut—!"

He swung downward, slicing into Nirvana's towering leg. The slash ripped through the air, generating a cacophonous boom.

Boom—!!

Crack—!!

One of Nirvana's gigantic legs snapped under the blow, tumbling away and flattening swathes of trees.

"Wah—ahhhhh!"

"Gwaaah!"

Up on Nirvana, the sudden jolt flung Brain and Cobra off their feet.

"Damn it!" Cobra snarled.

"What was that?!" Brain hissed.

In the control chamber, a magically-projected panel showed one leg as "destroyed." The same sense of dark panic seized them.

"Su Yan, no doubt," Brain growled. "He alone could do this. But…" He eyed the display as the system began to chime. "Fortunately, the ancients designed Nirvana with an auto-repair feature."

Sure enough, as Su Yan watched below, the severed leg began to reconstruct, magical particles swirling around the break until the entire limb was restored.

"Huh. Regenerative? Then let's see if it can keep fixing itself once it's completely obliterated," Su Yan murmured.

This time he coated his fist in twin layers of Armament-like Haki and Conqueror's Haki. Purple lightning rippled around his knuckles.

"Break—!!!"

He slammed into the same leg, a tremendous force erupting from his punch. The impact seemingly unraveled the massive limb from the point of contact onward, like it was being erased.

Boom—!!

R-rumble—!!

Nirvana shook even harder, actually stumbling backward a step. Brain and Cobra lost their balance again, cursing under their breath. The control panel flashed in urgent red.

"Damn…!" Brain gritted his teeth. "Cobra, get down there and kill that man! If we don't stop him, Nirvana can't move anywhere!"

"Got it, Cubellious," Cobra spat. He hated leaving Brain alone with the half-crippled structure, but they had no choice.

Below, the regenerating leg again began knitting itself back together.

Su Yan scowled. "It fixes itself almost instantly, huh…? Then I'll smash the top instead."

He crouched low, then sprang upward:

Boom—!!

The ground exploded beneath his feet. In a few swift "steps" on thin air—using his bizarre Haki technique—he launched himself onto Nirvana's massive body.

Thus, the next confrontation would unfold atop Nirvana's ancient city, where Su Yan sought to shatter its command center—and prevent the nightmare of "light-devouring darkness" from annihilating every guild in Fiore.
