~ A month later, with Naruto ~

Today was the day.

Warrod's friend would be arriving any time now, and Naruto was probably a little too excited.

"Where is she, Koboku-jiji? Didn't you say she'd be here around noon time? Well, it's past that!" Waiting by the front door, Naruto was also a little too impatient.

Warrod shook his head as he sighed at the antics of his adoptive grandson. "Just wait a little longer, Naruto. She's almost here."

Just as he ended speaking, a figure could be seen growing in the distance. "Speak of the devil and she shall arrive."

Naruto squinted into the distance, trying to make out the figure approaching their home.

As the figure grew closer, he noticed a woman with pink hair and twin bangs that flowed down both sides of her face.

She stopped a few steps before them, crossing her arms and looking from Naruto to Warrod with a raised brow.

"This is the boy you spoke of, Warrod? He looks. . . spirited." She remarked, her tone neutral as she saw the practically beaming boy waiting to get started.

"Spirited is an understatement." Warrod replied with a chuckle. "Naruto, this is Porlyusica. She's one of the most skilled magic healer in all of Fiore. Dare I say the best even."

Naruto stared at her with wide, curious eyes. "You're a magic healer? Like, you can fix people with magic?"

Porlyusica's sharp eyes softened ever so slightly at Naruto's curiosity. She may not take a liking to people, but something about the boy was reaching out to her.

"Fixing people isn't as simple as waving a magic hand, boy. Healing is about understanding the body and the magic within it. It is a precise art."

Naruto grinned. "I don't know what you're talking about, but I'll be in your care, Porlyusica-baachan!"

Porlyusica sighed, already sensing the energy and persistence she'd be dealing with. She gave a side eye towards Warrod, indicating that his warning about the boy's personality was clearly underplayed.

"We'll see about that. Now, Warrod said your case is. . . unusual. Let's start with the basics."

Without further ado, Warrod led the pair into the house, where Porlyusica then set up a small workspace with the tools and magical instruments she'd brought along.

Warrod watched with a warm smile as the two began.

"Sit still." Porlyusica commanded, glancing at Naruto as he fidgeted under her intense gaze.

She placed her hands on his forehead, closing her eyes to concentrate. A soft glow emanated from her palms as she began her examination.

Minutes passed in silence, and Porlyusica seemed to frown at what she was sensing. Eventually, she pulled back, looking at Warrod with an expression he couldn't quite decipher.

"Well?" Warrod asked, breaking the tension.

Porlyusica exhaled sharply, turning her attention back to Naruto. "You weren't kidding, Warrod. His body certainly is. . . unique. I've never seen anything quite like it."

Naruto's grin grew wider. "Does that mean I'm special?"

Porlyusica's frown deepened. "Special isn't always a good thing. Your body has the structure of a mage, but it doesn't absorb Ethernano the way it should. It's as if. . . something else is mixed in with it."

Naruto tilted his head, confused but a voice at the back of his head seemed to answer his confusion.

'Chakra.'

"Something else? Like what?" Warrod asked, his attention now fully in the conversation.

She hesitated, glancing at Naruto again before speaking. "I'm not sure yet. But whatever it is, it's blocking your ability to use magic."

Seeing Naruto's confusion, she sighed once again as she reconsidered her words.

"To put it simply, boy, it's like your body was designed for something different entirely. What that is? I do not know. I would need to go back to do some researching of my own."

Naruto's excitement dimmed slightly, but he quickly recovered. "That's okay! You'll figure it out, right? And when you do, I'll finally be able to train in magic!"

Porlyusica did not bother further with Naruto, instead now giving her attention to Warrod. Warrod saw the look in her eyes and realized what she wanted.

"Naruto, why don't you go and get some refreshments for Porlyusica? She travelled a long way to help us, least we could do is show some proper hospitality." Warrod suggested.

Naruto practically jumped to his feet as he exclaimed. "That's right! I'm sorry! I'll be right on it!"

As Naruto left, Warrod adopted a more serious expression as he locked gazes with his old friend. "I know that look, what's wrong?"

"That boy, where did you find him?" She asked and did not miss the flinch in his expression.

"What do you mea-"

"Warrod, this is not the time to be keeping secrets from me. Where did you find him?"

Sighing, Warrod finally gave a brief recount of his encounter with Naruto and his story.

Hearing Naruto's story only served to further increase Porlyusica's disgust for the mages of Earthland.

"To think something like that would happen."

"Indeed. It does not help that we do not know which Dark Guild exactly it was that did it, nor what their goal was." Warrod sighed.

"In any case," she began, "Do not let the boy anywhere near magical training for now. It seems that his body is slowly adapting to accommodate Ethernano and whatever mysterious energy that was that I sensed within him."

"So that means. . .?"

"Yes, he will one day be able to use magic. But, his body needs to be strong enough to withstand the mixture of the two forms of energy." She revealed. "But for now, I think it's best we keep him in the dark, least he starts getting too impatient."

Warrod nodded, knowing full well that Naruto would definitely do something stupid.

Their conversation was cut short by the voice of the third occupant in the house.

"I didn't know what sort of drink you would like, so I brought you some chilled water instead."

The three of them proceeded to engage in small talk, with Naruto often asking Porlyusica about the different medical stories she had.

As the sun began to set, Porlyusica decided that it was time to take her leave. After she packed up her tools, Warrod walked her to the door.

"Thank you, Porlyusica. He may not show it, but it means a lot to him – and to me."

Porlyusica glanced back at Naruto, who was being dragged away by vines into the room she remembered to be a library. "I'll say it again, but he's got the spirit."

With that, she left, leaving Naruto to face his nightly tormentor once again.
