[Note: Little turkeys are pretty awesome, squawk.]
Han Qiwu: ".....This little buddy of mine is pretty awesome too, squawk."
Judging from the attributes, the chicks taken out from the incubator come with pre-determined genders. The Big Turkey is male, while the Little Turkey is female.
Additionally, their sale price after maturity is as high as 1500 gold and 1800 gold.
This further demonstrates their high economic value.
The price of the hen is 300 gold higher than that of the rooster.
Understandable, after all, hens can lay eggs!
Looking at their respective animal products, Han Qiwu felt a sense of satisfaction.
At long last, the meat chicken had done something useful.
Who would've thought? It actually passed down its remarkable rebirth-through-flames trait to the Big Turkey.
The Big Turkey's crest must taste incredible, right?
Thinking of this, Han Qiwu swallowed hard.
The two chicks below looked stunned, exchanged a glance, and stared at him.
"Master, we haven't even eaten yet! Why are you already swallowing???"
"Ahem, ahem, let's go, let's go. I'll take you two to eat something tasty." Han Qiwu cupped the Big Turkey and Little Turkey in his hands, purposely walking past the meat chicken, muttering, "I heard roasted chicks taste amazing. Sins of the father, paid by the sons, eh."
Meat Chicken: "Master, I was wrong! I won't dare again! Spare them, please! They're just kids!"
The color of the emotionally overwhelmed meat chicken's wings grew redder and redder.
Han Qiwu snuck a glance at the meat chicken's expression and chuckled silently.
You little troublemaker, trying to mess with me? Watch how I handle you!
After circling around a bit, Han Qiwu brought the turkeys back into the sycamore and casually placed a bag of dragon whisker grass feed before the two chicks.
Go on, munch away! Grow up quickly so I can collect your crests!
The Little Turkey's feathers also seem like decent stuff.
Only now did he begin to faintly realize that the use of the incubator wasn't just to provide him with chicks. More importantly, it could be used to breed new varieties of chicks with excellent traits.
As long as he could produce one male and one female of the same new variety, the traits might stabilize.
He seemed to see a shining path to wealth!
Turbo Chickens! Skyflying Chickens! Jet Chickens! Battle Chickens!
Anything is possible!
Ahem, maybe I'm overthinking it.
The two little chicks ate quickly, their heads bobbing up and down, finishing the feed in no time. After eating their fill, they waddled over for a quick sip of water, then obediently found their nest, climbed in, and fell asleep.
With the addition of these two, the intermediate coop's 8-chicken capacity was now maxed out again.
So many chickens—quite a headache!
"The Bluefire Peacock Egg hasn't hatched yet. I'll need to expand." Han Qiwu thought about it for a moment, "There are two ways to go about this: one, build another basic chicken coop; or two, upgrade the sycamore tree into an advanced coop. I'll check out what the advanced coop requires and decide later."
After making up his mind, Han Qiwu grabbed a turkey egg and a Bluefire Peacock Egg and headed into the incubator room to start incubating them one by one.
Let's just incubate them for now—even if there's no space, I can always stash them in the storage slots for later.
[Bluefire Peacock Egg Incubating, Estimated Time: 60 hours]
[Turkey Egg Incubating, Estimated Time: 36 hours]
Compared to the turkey egg, the Bluefire Peacock Egg took a bit longer to hatch.
Understandable, since it's a bird that shoots blue flames, after all.
After finishing this round of busywork, Han Qiwu felt hungry. He headed to the Hospital River bank, pulled out his nylon casting net, and cast it forcefully at a wetland catfish.
"Splash!"
The nylon casting net hit the water, triggering the fishing mini-game once again.
Compared to the stubborn Armored Toothed Turtle, the wetland catfish from his own pond was much easier to catch. In no time, Han Qiwu successfully nabbed one.
Quite enjoyable, really.
For today's lunch, Han Qiwu planned to make Catfish Stew with Eggplant—a treat for himself.
The dish is simple to prepare. First, he gutted the catfish and boiled it whole for three minutes.
Boiling it briefly helped remove the slime from the fish's surface more effectively.
After removing the slime, he chopped the fish into big chunks and set them aside.
Next, he heated a fresh pan, added homemade peanut oil, and fried the eggplant in advance.
Once the eggplant softened, he tossed the fish chunks and seasonings in, letting it simmer over high heat.
After cooking thoroughly, the dish was done.
While the fish was simmering on high heat, Han Qiwu started cooking rice and whipped up a simple glass of Strawberry Honey Milk, which he sipped at leisure.
Strawberries truly pair well with everything.
After finishing his Strawberry Honey Milk, Han Qiwu checked on the catfish stew—it still needed some time. So he decided to head into the Miniature All-Forest Realm and chop at a few trees that had sprouted today.
Once inside, Han Qiwu looked around, his mouth practically watering at the sight of the thousands of different trees waiting to regenerate in the refresh zone.
If only they could all grow at once—I wouldn't stop eating or drinking until I chopped every last one down!
Let's chop!
With axe in hand, Han Qiwu ventured into the refreshing zone, immediately spotting five familiar red pine trees on the far right.
Unlike the mist-shrouded giant red pines he'd seen before, these were much smaller and pitiful, with no pinecones on their crowns.
Might as well chop them down.
"Chop chop."
Han Qiwu aimed at the base, bent his knees, and gave it a good whack.
[Wood]×3
The yield was decent—three pieces of wood from one tree.
On to the next one.
"Slash slash slash."
Han Qiwu worked deftly, reaching the fifth red pine in no time.
With one swing, he was thrilled.
[Wood]×2
[Red Pine Sapling]×1
A sapling too?!
Such good luck?
Was it because of what the horoscope said about "favorable for swaying," and I happened to be swaying while chopping???
Who cares! A sapling is a sapling.
Putting down his axe, Han Qiwu carried the red pine sapling outside, carefully selected a spot, and placed it three plots to the left of the peach tree.
After planting it, he glanced around, intending to chat with Little Electric Bird.
Up in the sky? Nope.
On the trees? Nope.
Strange—where's the bird?
"Chirp chirp!"
Oh, it's by the riverside.
Han Qiwu followed the sound and spotted Little Electric Bird proudly flaunting its evolved wings before the Electric Jellyfish, occasionally flapping them for extra effect.
"You're a bird—why aren't you staying put in the trees? Why do you keep bugging that jellyfish? It's not Little Meimei." Han Qiwu muttered as he walked over. "Little Electric Bird, this sapling will produce pine nuts in the future. Make sure to guard it well—pluck out any bugs when you have the time, got it?"
"Chirp chirp!!"
Little Electric Bird immediately stood upright, nodding eagerly, its bright eyes fixed on the red pine sapling with excitement.
Pine nuts = getting stronger!
Nobody's gonna stop me from getting stronger!
After explaining, Han Qiwu left the bird and jellyfish to their antics. He returned to the kitchen to check on the stew.
In the meantime, the Electric Jellyfish in the water slowly floated over to Little Electric Bird and brushed it gently with a tentacle.
Its movement was tender, but the electric current was fierce.
"Z-z-z-z!!!"
Little Electric Bird shuddered from head to toe, glowing madly with sparks flying off.
"You crazy jellyfish! Just watch—I'll zap you to death!"
Zap zap zap!
