Fate/Infinite Nexus

Chapter 5: The Fractured Path

[Location: Batcave]

Chapter 6: The Fractured Path

The Batcave was alive with activity. Batman worked tirelessly at the Batcomputer, his fingers flying across the keyboard as he analyzed the data from Gotham Harbor. The fragmented map recovered from the dimensional device was slowly coming together, but the process was painstakingly slow. Shirou sat nearby, his arms crossed as he stared at the glowing screens. The weight of Nihilith's words still lingered in his mind.

"The multiverse will burn, and you will be consumed by the flames."

Raven stood beside him, her expression calm but her eyes betraying her concern. "You're quiet," she said, her voice soft. "What are you thinking about?"

Shirou hesitated before answering. "Nihilith. They're not just a threat to this world. They're a threat to everything. And I... I don't know if I'm strong enough to stop them."

Raven placed a hand on his shoulder, her touch grounding him. "You're not alone in this. We'll face them together."

Shirou nodded, but the doubt in his eyes remained. He had always been willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of others, but the stakes had never been this high. The multiverse itself was at risk, and the weight of that responsibility was crushing.

As Batman and Raven continued their work, Shirou took a moment to himself. He closed his eyes and accessed his system interface , a mental construct that displayed his current stats, skills, and abilities. The screen appeared in his mind, glowing faintly.

Shirou frowned as he reviewed his stats. His magical energy reserves were recovering, but they were still dangerously low. The instability of the First True Magic was a concern, and the strain of dimensional travel was taking its toll. He needed to find a way to replenish his energy and stabilize his abilities before facing Nihilith again.

As he closed the system interface, Shirou felt a renewed sense of determination. He had faced impossible odds before, and he would do so again. But this time, he wasn't alone. Batman and Raven could provide the resources and knowledge he needed to succeed.

As the trio worked, a sudden alert flashed on the Batcomputer. Batman's eyes narrowed as he read the message. "We have an incoming transmission. It's... from the Justice League."

Shirou and Raven exchanged a glance as Batman activated the communication system. The screen flickered to life, revealing the face of a man in a red and blue suit with a lightning bolt emblem on his chest.

"Batman," the man said, his voice calm but urgent. "We need to talk."

"Flash," Batman replied, his tone neutral. "What's going on?"

Flash's expression was grim. "We've detected unusual energy signatures across multiple dimensions. Something's tearing through the fabric of reality, and it's spreading fast. We think it's tied to Nihilith."

Shirou stepped forward, his eyes narrowing. "What kind of energy signatures?"

Flash hesitated for a moment before answering. "They're similar to the ones you encountered in Gotham Harbor. But they're stronger. And they're coming from a specific location—a place called the Nexus of Realities."

Raven's eyes widened. "The Nexus of Realities? That's... that's a theoretical point where all dimensions converge. If Nihilith is targeting it, they could destabilize the entire multiverse."

Batman's jaw tightened. "We need to get there first. Flash, can you provide coordinates?"

Flash nodded. "I'll send them to you. But be careful. The Nexus is unstable, and the energy there is... unpredictable."

The transmission ended, and the Batcave fell silent. Shirou clenched his fists, his resolve hardening. "We don't have a choice. We have to go."

The trio prepared for the journey, gathering supplies and equipment. Batman worked on modifying the Batmobile to handle dimensional travel, while Raven focused on stabilizing the energy signatures they would encounter. Shirou, meanwhile, took a moment to himself, his mind racing with thoughts of what lay ahead.

As he stood in the Batcave, staring at the glowing screens, a faint voice echoed in his mind. It was Alaya, the collective will of humanity.

"Shirou Emiya, the path ahead is fraught with peril. But you must not falter. The fate of the multiverse depends on you."

Shirou's grip tightened on Kanshou and Bakuya . "I won't fail. No matter what it takes."

[The Nexus of Realities]

The journey to the Nexus of Realities was unlike anything Shirou had ever experienced. The dimensional rift they traveled through was a swirling vortex of light and sound, the air thick with energy. As they emerged on the other side, they found themselves in a place that defied description.

The Nexus was a vast, shimmering expanse of energy, its surface shifting and changing like a living thing. The air was filled with the hum of countless dimensions, their energies intertwining in a chaotic dance. Shirou could feel the strain on his magical circuits, the sheer power of the Nexus overwhelming his senses.

"This place... it's incredible," Raven said, her voice filled with awe. "But it's also dangerous. We need to be careful."

Batman's eyes narrowed as he scanned the area. "Nihilith is here. I can feel it."

As if on cue, a figure emerged from the shadows. It was Nihilith, their form cloaked in darkness, their mask shifting like smoke. They stood at the center of the Nexus, their hands raised as they channeled energy into the swirling vortex.

"You're too late," Nihilith said, their voice echoing unnaturally. "The Nexus is mine, and with it, I will reshape the multiverse."

Shirou stepped forward, his blades gleaming in the light of the Nexus. "Not if we have anything to say about it."

---

The battle that followed was unlike anything Shirou had ever experienced. The Nexus amplified Nihilith's power, their attacks growing more intense with each passing moment. Shirou moved like a whirlwind, Kanshou and Bakuya cutting through the air with deadly precision. But Nihilith was relentless, their form shifting and reforming as if they were untouchable.

Raven and Batman fought alongside Shirou, their combined efforts keeping Nihilith at bay. Raven's magic disrupted Nihilith's energy flow, while Batman's gadgets created distractions and openings. But despite their efforts, Nihilith's power continued to grow.

As the battle raged on, Shirou's mind raced. He needed to find a way to stop Nihilith, but his energy was running low. He glanced at Raven, his voice tense. "Can you disrupt the Nexus?"

Raven hesitated before answering. "I can try, but it will take everything I have."

"Do it," Shirou said, his voice firm. "We'll cover you."

Batman nodded, his eyes narrowing. "We'll hold them off."

As Raven worked to disrupt the Nexus, Shirou and Batman faced Nihilith head-on. The battle was fierce, the air crackling with energy as their blades clashed. Shirou's movements were precise, his strikes calculated, but Nihilith's power was overwhelming.

As the final blow landed, the Nexus began to collapse, its energy dissipating into the void. Nihilith's form began to dissolve, their mask cracking like glass. For a moment, their gaze locked with Shirou's, and a cold voice echoed in his mind.

"This is not the end, Shirou Emiya. The multiverse will burn, and you will be consumed by the flames."

Before Shirou could respond, Nihilith was gone, their form fading into nothingness. The Nexus collapsed, and the trio was thrown back by the force of the explosion.

---

When the dust settled, Shirou found himself lying on the ground, his body battered and bruised. He looked around, his eyes scanning the area for Batman and Raven. They were nearby, their expressions a mix of relief and exhaustion.

"We did it," Raven said, her voice soft. "The Nexus is stable. Nihilith is gone."

Shirou nodded, but the doubt in his eyes remained. "For now. But they'll be back. And when they are, we need to be ready."

Batman placed a hand on Shirou's shoulder, his voice firm. "We will be. But for now, we need to regroup. The multiverse is safe, but the fight isn't over."
