Chapter 10: CH 10
Departing Syrup Village
Half an hour later, Nojiko found herself with no choice but to join the Bai Yu Pirates.
As Nami uprooted a few orange trees, the Going Merry ascended into the sky, surrounded by the cheers and well-wishes of the villagers.
Onboard the ship, Bai Yu turned to Nojiko, who introduced herself modestly:
"Nojiko, 20 years old. I love cooking, tending orange trees, and… my dream is simple: I just want Nami to be healthy and happy."
Bai Yu nodded approvingly.
"Perfect! You're the crew's new chef. Nami's cooking is absolutely awful."
"WHAT?!" Nami crossed her arms and glared. "Who says my food is bad? Let's see you cook, huh?! Can you even boil water?!"
Ignoring her, Bai Yu calmly walked toward his quarters.
"Hey! Get back here!"
Nami stomped her foot in frustration, jumping up and down. "Damn it! He makes me so angry!"
Nojiko, amused by the scene, smiled warmly. Seeing Nami like this was reassuring. It was clear her sister was finally happy.
Kaya chuckled softly, stepping closer. "Two sisters, why don't we start training together?"
"Sure!" Nojiko agreed, following her and Nami.
The Lottery and New Power
Meanwhile, Bai Yu entered his room and began his next draw.
"Let's hope for something that strengthens the entire crew—maybe a Time Room or something similar."
"Ding! The crew member Nojiko has officially joined. Initiating lottery from the Myriad Realms."
"Ding! Congratulations, Host, you've obtained the item: Conqueror's Haki Parsing Handbook!"
"Ding! Optimization mechanism detected. Optimize?"
"Optimize immediately!" Bai Yu said without hesitation.
"Ding! Optimization complete."
"You have obtained: Haki's True Solution!"
Haki's True Solution included three incredible techniques:
1. Conqueror's Meditation – A method to strengthen Conqueror's Haki through focused meditation, enhancing one's spiritual will and mind. It also aids in awakening latent Conqueror's Haki.
2. Armament Tempering – A faster, more efficient way to strengthen Armament Haki, improving both defense and offensive capabilities.
3. Dream Perception – A unique technique to develop Observation Haki by enhancing sensory perception even while asleep.
Bai Yu's eyes widened in excitement.
The potential was immense. Not only could his Conqueror's Haki advance faster, but the techniques also provided a path to break past the peak and evolve beyond current limits.
"If I have time, I'll surpass everyone. At least, in this world."
Training the Crew
Eager to share his findings, Bai Yu returned to the deck.
He passed the foundational techniques from Haki's True Solution to the three women.
"Train hard. I expect all of you to awaken Conqueror's Haki soon," Bai Yu said, grinning.
The thought of a crew where every member had Conqueror's Haki sent shivers down his spine.
Nami tilted her head, squinting at Bai Yu suspiciously.
"Wait… this Dream Perception thing. Does that mean you can read minds or something?"
Bai Yu smirked, tapping her forehead lightly.
"You're overthinking it. Reading hearts is something you're either born with or not—it's not something you can just train."
"Yeah, right. I bet you can do it," Nami muttered, narrowing her eyes further.
Bai Yu didn't deny it. "To be honest, I've already read your memories. Don't ask how—it just happened."
"WHAT?!"
All three women exclaimed in unison, their faces flushed with embarrassment.
"I'm never going to get married now!" Kaya cried.
Nojiko crossed her arms, glaring silently, while Nami's fists trembled.
Marine's Discovery
Meanwhile, the deaths of Colonel Nezumi and his Marines near Arlong Park had not gone unnoticed.
A Marine investigation quickly uncovered the truth, and word reached the East Blue Governor.
The news was passed along the chain of command until it reached Marineford.
"Is this report confirmed?" Fleet Admiral Sengoku asked, frowning as he held the phone transponder.
The Governor replied: "Yes, Fleet Admiral. Additional information suggests the culprit, Bai Yu, has a growing reputation in East Blue. His crew includes Kaya of Syrup Village, who is well-known locally."
Sengoku sighed and hung up. He turned to Vice Admiral Garp, who was munching on senbei.
"Garp, stop eating in my office. Those are mine!"
"Relax, Sengoku. You're so stingy!" Garp laughed, stuffing another senbei into his mouth.
Sengoku pinched the bridge of his nose. "Stop laughing. Monkey D. Luffy—what's he to you?"
"Of course he's my grandson," Garp replied casually before pausing. His eyes narrowed.
"Wait… how do you know about Luffy? Have you been spying on me?!"
"You idiot!" Sengoku shouted, barely restraining his temper.
"Your grandson and his Straw Hat Pirates encountered Bai Yu in Syrup Village. Luffy and his swordsman were gravely injured, their ship's navigator was taken, and they're currently missing."
The room trembled as Garp's aura flared, scattering furniture and shaking the walls.
"CALM DOWN!" Sengoku bellowed, suppressing the outburst with his own Haki.
"How can I calm down? That's my grandson!" Garp roared, his fists clenched.
Sengoku sighed. "The reports don't confirm his death. He's likely still alive and running somewhere."
"However, if you can contact him, I suggest persuading him to return before he's officially made a wanted man. You know how I feel about pirates."
Garp scowled. "If I find him, I'm going to give him the beating of a lifetime."
Sengoku raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, sure. Like you'd ever lay a hand on him."
He handed Garp a file containing Bai Yu's details.
"So this is the man… Bai Yu," Sengoku murmured.
Next Destination
Back on the Going Merry, Bai Yu began preparing for the next leg of their journey.
"Nami, how far is it to Windmill Village?"
"Windmill Village?" Nami asked.
"In the Goa Kingdom," Bai Yu clarified.
Nami calculated quickly. "If we fly with Shima Cloud, it'll take about a week."
Bai Yu nodded.
"Then that's our next destination. Let's get moving."
And so, the Bai Yu Pirates set off, leaving East Blue forever changed.
