Chapter 180 Someone is Both Stupid and Malicious (Extra)
This type of confirmation that the loss of livestock was carried by a wild animal meant the government had to provide compensation.
The youngster wasn't really concerned about the money; he was just angry that the scumbag Snow Leopard had taken away the three little ones without even leaving two behind.
"My dad said that the Snow Leopard was originally the mountain Elf, and it couldn't stay with us for long, but why couldn't it wait until we moved the pasture before leaving? We were having such a good time together."
So, is this what you're truly feeling, kid?
Chen Ying didn't point it out; he just said that when he was older, he could follow his dad up the mountain to see firsthand how the Snow Leopard hunts on the cliffs, and then decide whether it was good or bad to let it stay.
When he returned to the police station, the uncle was already waiting there.
"I know you're in a hurry to leave, so I've prepared some things for you to take with you. Load them in the car, and be on your way. Don't delay."
Chen Ying glanced at Suo Wang, who was touching his head and smiling next to him, and didn't drag out their departure.
He drove swiftly all the way home, and by the time he arrived, it was already dark.
Chen Ying had his own small apartment in the provincial city, and his mom, knowing that he was coming back, had cleaned it up for him in advance.
The fifth or sixth day was usually the time he visited his old teachers and friends in past years.
This year, he had arranged with a few old classmates to visit their high school homeroom teacher and wish him a belated new year.
When they arrived at the teacher's place, and he had just got out of the car, he heard a piercing cat meow.
Then, a black-and-white dairy cow cat fell from the sky, landed in Chen Ying's arms, and incidentally ripped a long slit in his down jacket.
Fluff fluttered all around, like falling snowflakes.
"Meow?" The cow cat popped its head out from his embrace, with a guilty expression.
Someone from upstairs rushed down in a panic, continuously apologizing.
Chen Ying handed back the cat and wiped his face, feeling a stinging pain where a cat's claw had scratched his chin.
Chen Ying's teacher heard the commotion and came down to take a look.
With things turned out this way, it wasn't convenient to visit the teacher's home; the down feathers were still flying chaotically and couldn't be collected.
Chen Ying simply took off his jacket, turned it inside out, wrapped it up, and stuffed it in a bag.
His teacher worriedly offered to find him another coat to wear temporarily.
Chen Ying gave his classmate a look, stopping the teacher.
With such a rough start to the day, he decided not to go up after all. He left the gifts for his classmate to bring up, chatted with the teacher for a bit, and planned to find a clinic to treat his wound.
The cow cat's owner pulled out her phone, intending to compensate Chen Ying for his clothes and the cost of any medical shots.
"No need, just be more careful in the future. When the cat is at home, make sure to keep the windows closed."
The owner of the cow cat bit her lip and watched as Chen Ying left, then turned around, huffing, to scold the cat.
After driving around for a while, he wound up at the hospital where Mother Chen worked to treat his wound.
Mrs. Chen was surprised to see her son come in, and upon learning that he was scratched by a cat, she shook her head, sighed, and personally treated his wound.
After his wound was treated, Chen Ying was about to tell his mom that he needed to buy some new clothes when they heard a commotion outside.
Mrs. Chen rushed out to see several strong men carrying a plump man rushing in.
"Doctor, doctor, quick, he's been bitten by a snake."
Although being bitten by a snake was not a rare occurrence in the city, it was quite unusual to be bitten by one during the winter.
Chen Ying was the first to rush over, lifted the man's pant leg, and saw that the area around the wound was already black.
Although treating human injuries wasn't within his field of expertise, he could quickly identify the type of snake by its appearance to find the antivenom serum as fast as possible.
"We don't know what kind of snake it was, he was bitten on the wasteland outside our community. He was walking his dog when he suddenly cried out and fell to the ground. By the time we got there, there was nothing around."
Chen Ying knew that place; it was a commercial lot that had been abandoned for many years. She heard the original owner who had won the auction ran out of money, the lot changing hands several times, and then it was reclaimed. Now, it seemed they were looking for a new buyer.
Because wild fields were not allowed in the city, the area had been hastily turned into a simple street park.
But precisely because there was no organization responsible for this plot of land, the grass was rarely trimmed. Many people liked to bring their cats and dogs there to play, and it was easy to accidentally step in dog poop.
However, the appearance of a venomous snake was something that couldn't just be ignored.
Chen Ying asked if they had called the police, and the person who brought in the injured party said they were in a hurry to get help and hadn't called the police, unsure if someone else had.
Upon hearing that there were still people waiting around to see what was happening, Chen Ying cursed under her breath and quickly rushed over to help search for the snake.
When she arrived at the scene, something about it felt not quite right.
This kind of environment wasn't favored by venomous snakes, and besides, it was winter; snakes wouldn't be out slithering around in this weather, hibernating or not.
She carefully surveyed the area and two young people by the roadside caught her attention.
They wore masks, scarves, and hats, with only a pair of eyes showing.
Standing by a car, they seemed to be engaged in a quiet argument.
Chen Ying sniffed the air and nonchalantly walked over, hands in her pockets.
When the two saw a passerby approach, they stopped arguing but did not leave.
As Chen Ying passed by, she glanced up as if by chance, showing an appropriate level of curiosity without slowing her pace.
She smelled something on them, very faint but enough to not deceive her keen sense of smell.
Chen Ying looked down, considering a possibility, and her expression suddenly turned sour.
The young man and woman saw Chen Ying stop suddenly and turn toward them, becoming extremely tense.
"Did you release that snake?" Chen Ying asked.
The young girl's face turned pale instantly.
"No, it wasn't me, I didn't."
"What the hell are you blabbering about? Do you have any evidence? I'll sue you for slander. Are you trying to extort money?"
Hearing his response, Chen Ying was almost certain that if they weren't the culprits themselves, they were definitely related to the incident.
Just then, police officers from the local station arrived, and as they parked their car, they saw the young man swinging a fist at Chen Ying. She caught his punch and, with a twist, pressed him against a nearby street tree.
The girl who was with the young man let out a shriek, frantically clawing and kicking at Chen Ying as if she'd lost her mind.
The police officers didn't bother to search for the snake and focused on resolving the conflict.
Three officers rushed in to control the situation, and before they could even ask questions, Chen Ying volunteered her suspicion that the venomous snake in the park grass was released by the two individuals.
"Shut your mouth, say that one more time, I dare you."
The young man glared viciously at Chen Ying, who ignored him completely.
"They have the scent of a snake mongoose on them; you can check their car. Snake mongooses eat venomous snakes, but typically, a domesticated mongoose isn't fed venomous snakes. I suspect the mongoose they're carrying has a questionable origin."
(Feeding time!)
Upon hearing Chen Ying's words, the girl burst into tears.
"It wasn't me, it wasn't me. He wanted to feed it, he even bought venomous snakes online, saying the mongoose would grow better after consuming venomous snakes."
The officer's expression darkened upon hearing this. He asked the girl to open the car door, and sure enough, they found a cage in the back seat.
"Where's the mongoose?"
"It, it got out. We let it loose to go find that snake, wuwu, Officer, I really didn't know. It was all his doing; I'm scared to death."
Chen Ying didn't care what would become of the two; upon seeing firefighters arrive, she proactively went to assist in the search for the venomous snake and the mysteriously appeared mongoose.
