Chapter 9: Chapter 7: A Spark of connection
Ethan couldn't shake off the feeling that he'd just experienced something profound with Charlotte. As he lay in bed that night, he couldn't help but think about the way she'd smiled at him, the way her eyes had sparkled in the dim light.
He knew it was wrong, but he couldn't deny the connection he'd felt with Charlotte. It was as if they'd picked up right where they'd left off, like no time had passed at all.
The next day, Ethan found himself seeking out Charlotte again. They met up for coffee, and as they sat across from each other, Ethan felt that same spark of connection.
They talked about everything and nothing, their conversation flowing effortlessly. Ethan found himself opening up to Charlotte in ways he never had with Victoria.
As they parted ways, Ethan felt a pang of regret. He knew he couldn't pursue anything with Charlotte, not while he was still engaged. But he couldn't shake off the feeling that he'd just experienced something real with her.
That night, Ethan received a text from Charlotte. "I had a great time today," she wrote. "Would love to do it again soon."
Ethan's heart skipped a beat as he read the message. He knew he shouldn't respond, but he couldn't help himself.
"Me too," he wrote back. "Let's do it again soon."
As he hit send, Ethan felt a rush of excitement mixed with guilt. He knew he was playing with fire, but he couldn't deny the connection he'd felt with Charlotte.
