“From Blocks to Spells:The Alchemy Professor Who Redefined Hogwards”

Chapter 9: CH 9

"I have long admired my name."

"…Huh? You know me?" Kaysen asked, surprised.

"As a governor of Hogwarts, it's essential to know every professor at the school, including the new Professor of Alchemy, Mr. Kaysen Heath," Lucius Malfoy said with a reserved tone.

"Oh, I see. It's an honor," Kaysen replied politely.

Lucius handed him an emerald-green business card. "This is my card. It has the address of Malfoy Manor. You are always welcome as a guest."

"I'll keep that in mind."

After exchanging pleasantries, Kaysen left Flourish and Blotts, leaving Lucius and Draco Malfoy to continue selecting books.

"Father, I've never heard of the Heath family before," Draco said suddenly, breaking the silence.

"You're wondering why I showed him kindness when he might be a Muggle?" Lucius responded calmly.

"Yes."

"Dumbledore claims Kaysen Heath is an old-fashioned apprentice wizard. It remains unclear whether he is Muggle-born. From the information I've gathered, Kaysen Heath is an orphan, so it's not necessarily true that he's a Muggle."

"And his skill in alchemy is undeniable. That alone is reason enough to ignore his bloodline. Pure-blood status only matters when it provides real benefits. If the name of pure-blood cannot bring us advantages but instead invites disaster…" Lucius trailed off, clearly waiting for Draco to respond.

"…"

"If such a name offers no benefits, we let it fade into obscurity. If it becomes dangerous, we abandon it altogether. The value isn't in the so-called purity of blood but in what tangible advantages it brings. Do you understand?" Lucius asked, disappointed that he had to explain it all himself.

Draco nodded after a moment, though it was unclear if he fully understood.

Meanwhile, at Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions, Kaysen arrived to find Harry sitting on a small sofa waiting for him.

"Sorry, did I take too long?"

"It's fine. Where's Hagrid?" Harry asked with a smile as he stood up.

"I didn't see him. He said he was going to Knockturn Alley."

"Let's go find him. I think I saw a sign for Knockturn Alley earlier."

"Alright. Let's go."

The two of them followed the path leading to Knockturn Alley. The streets became quieter, with only a few wizards lingering in dark corners. Soon, the narrow lane opened into Knockturn Alley, a much gloomier and more sinister version of Diagon Alley.

"This place doesn't feel right. What's Hagrid doing here?" Kaysen muttered, clearly uncomfortable with the eerie atmosphere.

"Is that Hagrid?" Harry suddenly pointed. Kaysen followed his gaze and spotted Hagrid, whose size made him impossible to miss.

Hagrid appeared to be in trouble—three dark-robed wizards had surrounded him, their threatening posture unmistakable.

"Stay close to me and don't wander," Kaysen said firmly, handing Harry an Ender Pearl. "Crush this if you're in danger."

With that, he led Harry toward the scene.

"Hagrid, what's going on?" Kaysen called out as they approached.

"Why're yeh here? Don't worry about me—I can handle it," Hagrid said, clearly embarrassed.

"It's none of your business. Pretty boy, you don't want to mess with black magic," one of the dark wizards sneered in a hoarse voice.

"Is that so? Well, if you leave now, we can all avoid trouble," Kaysen said, continuing to walk toward them.

"You're asking for it! Avada Kedavra!"

A green flash of light raced toward Kaysen, but it was blocked by a sudden obsidian wall that appeared in front of him.

"Hey, stay away from my friends! Face me!" Hagrid roared, pulling out his pink umbrella wand, but he was a moment too slow and was disarmed by a Disarming Charm. His wand flew out of his hand, leaving him defenseless.

The frustrated Hagrid swung his fists, but the dark wizards were no amateurs, and physical strength alone wasn't enough to match their curses.

"You're not leaving this alley alive!" the lead dark wizard growled, his wand aimed directly at Kaysen.

"Black magic? You're not the only ones who can use it," Kaysen muttered. A Wither Skull appeared in his hand, emanating ominous black smoke. The dark wizards hesitated—wandless and silent casting of black magic was a rare and terrifying sight.

Their hesitation cost them.

With a bang, the Wither Skull exploded in the chest of the lead wizard, instantly ending his life. The remaining two dark wizards exchanged panicked glances and attempted to Apparate away.

The second wizard was struck by another Wither Skull, which erupted in black smoke and drained the life from his body.

The third wizard managed to cast a spell at Kaysen, but Kaysen appeared directly in front of him in a flash of dark green light—teleporting with the Ender Pearl. A Netherite sword, shimmering with lavender energy, materialized in Kaysen's hand. With a single thrust, the sword pierced the wizard's chest.

"Hagrid, are you alright?" Kaysen asked, pulling the sword free as the wizard collapsed to the ground. The sword dissolved into pixels and disappeared as if it had never existed.

"I'm fine. I didn't know you were so powerful! I thought all you could do was turn gold into blocks!" Hagrid said, scratching his head as he picked up his fallen umbrella wand.

Kaysen shrugged as the trust from both Hagrid and Harry flowed into him.
