From Nemises To Lovers

Chapter 63: Chapter 63: High-Speed Reckoning

The motorcycle roared through the streets, weaving between cars and cutting sharp turns that left Langston's men scrambling to keep up. Isabella gripped the handlebars tightly, her pulse steady despite the chaos.

Behind her, Alexander held on, his grip firm at her waist. "They're gaining," he warned, glancing back at the SUVs closing in.

Isabella smirked. "Not for long."

She spotted a narrow bridge up ahead under construction. Half the lanes were blocked by barriers, leaving just enough space for a motorcycle to slip through.

The SUVs? Too big to follow.

Perfect.

"Hold on," Isabella called.

Alexander tightened his grip just as she accelerated. The motorcycle shot forward, speeding toward the gap between the barriers.

Behind them, Langston's men realized too late. Tires screeched, horns blared, and metal crunched as the first SUV crashed into the barriers.

One down.

Isabella didn't stop. She gunned the engine, speeding toward the other side of the bridge. But one SUV made it through.

Langston's top enforcer, a ruthless man named Carter, was behind the wheel.

He wasn't about to let them go.

The SUV swerved, closing the distance fast. Isabella felt the heat of the headlights at her back. He was trying to ram them off the road.

Alexander glanced over his shoulder. "If we don't do something, we're dead."

Isabella's mind raced. There was one chance but it was risky.

Ahead, an unfinished section of the bridge loomed an open steel beam hanging over the river below.

Alexander saw it too. "No way."

Isabella smirked. "Way."

She yanked the handlebars, tilting the bike toward the beam. The tires hit the metal, skidding slightly before locking into place. They were riding on a narrow steel beam, inches from death.

The SUV had no such luck.

Carter's eyes widened as he slammed the brakes too late.

The vehicle skidded, crashing through the barricade and plunging off the bridge. A deafening splash followed.

The moment they hit solid ground, Isabella pulled the bike to a stop.

Alexander exhaled, looking back at the destruction. "Remind me to never doubt you again."

Isabella smirked. "Smart man."

But as they caught their breath, a thought settled between them.

Langston wouldn't let this slide.

They had won this round.

But the war was far from over.
