Chapter 123: Chapter 123: Visiting the Studio

After finishing her call, Utaha returned to sit beside Ichin's mother. With a slightly flushed face, she said, "I've spoken to my parents. They'll choose a restaurant, and we can head over before dinner."

"That's wonderful," Ichin's mom replied with a smile. "It'll be nice for both families to chat. It's just a pity that Ichin's dad couldn't make it. It would've been even better if he could join us."

Ichin, however, didn't think it mattered much. He doubted his dad would have gone as far as learning Japanese like his mom. If he did join, Ichin would likely end up acting as the translator anyway.

Maybe he should suggest to his mom that his dad start learning Japanese after they returned. That would certainly make for an amusing scene.

After a moment of thought, Ichin turned to his mother. "Mom, are you planning to stay here for the next few days? If so, I'll tidy up the guest room for you. It has a bed, but I've been using it as a storage space."

"Sure, thank you," his mom said with a nod, smiling warmly. "I'll just stay here and chat with Utaha for a bit."

With that, Ichin's mom continued holding Utaha's hand as they talked in the living room. She even shared several stories about Ichin's childhood, much to Utaha's delight.

Ichin, meanwhile, moved some items out of the guest room, aired it out, tidied up, and prepared fresh bedding. Once everything was set, he returned to the living room just as his phone rang.

It was Kō Yagami and the others—they had arrived.

After putting away his phone, Ichin looked at his mom. "Mom, a few of the studio members have arrived. Do you want to go check it out?"

"Of course!" she said with a laugh. "You mentioned before that everyone at the studio is a girl, but I haven't even seen their pictures. I'm really curious now."

The three of them left the apartment together and took the elevator down to the third floor.

Standing in front of the studio's door, Ichin's mom looked at the plain, unmarked entrance. "There's no sign or anything?"

"No need for now," Ichin replied. "Once we move to a bigger place, we'll set everything up properly."

As he spoke, he unlocked the door and walked in first.

Hearing the door open, the three women inside the workspace, who had just finished setting down a pile of luggage, turned to look.

Kō Yagami smiled and said, "Ichin-kun, I'm officially moved in today! Ah—wait, who is this?"

The middle-aged woman standing next to Ichin was unfamiliar to them. She clearly wasn't Utaha's mother, whom they had met before when she brought homemade snacks for everyone.

Hazuki, being particularly observant, noticed the resemblance between Ichin and the woman. She hesitated for a moment before guessing, "Ichin-kun, is this your mother?"

Ichin grinned and nodded. "That's right, this is my mom. I was just as surprised as you when she suddenly showed up. Since you were moving in, I suggested we come down to check on things."

Ichin's mom stepped forward, smiling warmly at the three women. "Hello, I'm Ichin's mother, Jasmin. Thank you all for looking after him."

Her fluent Japanese surprised the three of them. Kō quickly responded, "Oh, not at all! If anything, we should be the ones thanking him. When our previous company disbanded, he gave us the opportunity to keep working together. Hello, Auntie! I'm Kō Yagami, and I'm responsible for the studio's art department."

Rin added, "Hello, I'm Rin Toyama, the studio's art director."

Hazuki, the calmest of the three, smiled and said, "Hello, I'm Shizuku Hazuki. I handle some of the planning and oversee external business affairs."

"Nice to meet all of you!" Jasmin beamed at the three women. "I'd heard that everyone in Ichin's studio was a girl, but I didn't expect all of you to be so beautiful!"

When Hazuki wasn't teasing, she exuded the charm of an intellectual older sister. Kō Yagami came across as straightforward and honest, while Rin Toyama had the elegance of a traditional Yamato Nadeshiko, radiating a refined and delicate demeanor.

Noticing the luggage on the floor, Ichin's mother said, "You're in the middle of moving, right? Don't let us interrupt you. I'll have Ichin show me around the place."

Ichin nodded and said to Kō, "Kō, you guys can go ahead and sort your things out. Don't worry about us."

"Alright, we'll get to it then," Kō replied. She grabbed her suitcase and, along with the other two, headed to the bedroom she had already chosen.

Once inside the room with the door closed, Kō let out a sigh of relief and patted her chest. "Phew! That startled me. I didn't expect Ichin's mom to show up."

Sitting on a chair, Hazuki laughed. "Still, I didn't expect her to look so young! She's taken great care of herself. Maybe I should ask her for some beauty tips later. I'd love to look this good in ten years."

While Kō didn't pay much attention to this, Rin Toyama was intrigued and silently decided to join Hazuki in chatting with Ichin's mom about it later.

The three of them busied themselves organizing the room. At one point, Hazuki opened her suitcase and accidentally revealed Kō's intimate clothing, which led to a series of startled exclamations echoing through the room.

Meanwhile, Ichin and Utaha were showing his mother around the workspace.

"This is where we work and develop games," Ichin said, patting his chair. "This is my desk. The one on the left belongs to Kō, the one on the right is Hazuki's, and next to that is Utaha's spot."

"Huh? Utaha has a desk here too?" Ichin's mother looked at Utaha, who nodded and explained, "When Ichin is working in the studio, I often come here to write my novels. The work environment here is great, and it gives me a lot of inspiration. Also, Ichin mentioned that in the future, when they develop games, he'd like me to be the scriptwriter and create the storylines."

"You'll write the scripts?" Ichin's mom smiled warmly. "That sounds wonderful. I don't know much about game development, but as long as you're passionate about it, that's all that matters. By the way, Utaha, when will your novel be available in Chinese? I've been learning Japanese, but reading novels directly is still a bit challenging for me!"

Utaha hesitated for a moment before replying, "The overseas edition might take some time. There are still a lot of details to discuss, but I think it should be finalized within six months."

"Is that so…" Ichin's mom glanced at Utaha thoughtfully. She already had a favorable impression of the girl and wondered if there was a way to help. If she remembered correctly, her husband had contacts in the publishing industry. She decided to call him later to see if he could assist.

With that thought, she began asking Utaha more about her novels, showing genuine interest in her work.
