Game of Dragonborn.

Chapter 112: Chapter 112 - Negotiating with the Iron Bank.

[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]

Third Person POV.

Braavos.

...

...

"Isn't this request a bit too much?" one of the 12 men gathered around Jon and Daenerys seated at a table cautiously commented.

Jon and Daenerys were speaking with the main members of the Iron Bank, the elite of commerce from Braavos and its territories, in addition to controlling a good portion of the world's economy through the Iron Bank's financing.

Jon had sought them out for a reason, after all, wars require resources — in other words, money. No force could go to war without money or at least a guarantee of gains. Maybe that's why the Lannisters were so feared as the most dangerous house in the Seven Kingdoms, with the gold of Casterly Rock — or at least, they had it before Jon stole their gold.

He was seeking their sponsorship, after all, there was something the Iron Bank clearly needed from Westeros. The debt the late King Baratheon had made too great, so it would be a win-win opportunity.

Jon would ensure that the debt would be paid, and in exchange, he would receive support from the Iron Bank, which would result in a much lower cost than financing the war alone.

"I'm giving you a guarantee. We will win the war, and we will be the best support you will have." Jon said.

"How can you claim that? As far as we know, you don't have any army..." one of them said.

"An army is not a problem for us." Jon calmly replied.

"So you will continue stealing from noble houses, as we have heard, with your witchcraft?" another raised an eyebrow.

They had all initially been afraid of Jon, but thanks to the Sea Lord, this meeting was arranged under the assurance that Jon would not use any of the sorcery he had demonstrated while spreading through Westeros against them, having given his word that he would not threaten anyone there.

"I don't need to keep stealing entire houses. I have something that will surprise all of you, and you will see it within a few moons. News will arrive that will surely contradict what you say today..." He paused before continuing.

"Anyway, I won't say anything about it. But it is something that can certainly help with this support. After all, you don't expect two castles to be destroyed simply with sorcery, do you?" Jon said.

The place fell silent for a while as they pondered his words, looking at each other and making signals with their expressions. Until one of them turned back to Jon.

"It is indeed quite surprising that you can travel from one place to another, being in distant locations in such a short time. So it is true, you possess a dragon, don't you?" he asked.

"Obviously. You know very well the weight a war carries when Targaryens have dragons. And we are not in the middle of a Dance of the Dragons, where we would have to face other dragons. You know I can easily gain the support of countless houses from all the kingdoms once they know we have one of them." Jon said, while Daenerys only watched a little surprised that he was passing this information to those men.

But Jon knew they were all already considering this possibility, given that he had destroyed two entire castles and they were all counting on this affirmation along with the mystery of him moving so quickly from one place to another, crossing kingdoms and even the ocean.

The keyholders stared at each other again upon hearing this.

"So you're saying you want our support, claiming you will also enter the war for the Iron Throne along with the four self-proclaimed kings currently contending, in exchange for ensuring you will pay the debt the Crown of Westeros owes us, provided that we no longer support any of the other candidates and only you...?" one of them said thoughtfully after hearing all of Jon's speech among them.

"Exactly, but you are mistaken about one thing." Jon said, smiling as he asked Daenerys to step aside a little while he raised his other hand.

The space began to distort, and with a huge crash that startled everyone there, the chair where a king was supposed to sit slammed against the ground before the keyholders.

The sound was so loud that they even stood up, and the door behind them burst open with guards asking what was happening, already having orders that if they heard anything suspicious, they should enter and try to save their lives from the monster standing before them.

Jon ignored all the commotion and continued smiling.

"The Iron Throne is already with me. The only thing I need now is to destroy all the enemy armies until I reach King's Landing and execute all our enemies as well." Jon spoke as if he were in a grand game, enjoying himself, not caring how advantageous he was in this game against mortal men.

All the men there were stunned by it, not expecting, not even considering the possibility of encountering the Iron Throne right there, while Jon advanced and sat on it, staring at them directly.

"Well, you are speaking to the highest authority of the Seven Kingdoms now. After all, I am the heir to the throne, and there is no better candidate you could support, I assure you." Jon spoke as the entire surrounding area began to glow with the color of his eyes, with a layer around the Iron Throne.

"What... what are you?" they couldn't help but murmur, seeing that light shining from the Dragonborn.

Even Daenerys watched surprised and shocked, even after seeing everything Jon could do. That was raw power he had never shown before, making everyone around feel the overwhelming aura and fear growing in their hearts.

"I am Daemon Targaryen, but before that, I am the Dragonborn, the one who killed and devoured the soul of Alduin, the World-Eater, just as I had already done with dozens of other dragons before him." His glow seemed even more overwhelming, leaving everyone struggling to breathe.

"I am a true dragon slayer from another world. I am here seeking my revenge. The question I ask you: will you pay to watch and bet on another pretender, or will you secure your support for House Targaryen in their quest for vengeance and what was stolen from them, their birthright?"

Even the guards had difficulty running toward that side, feeling trapped there, with overwhelming fear; the same could be said of the keyholders.

"You are standing before the last two living Targaryens, and even being so few, powerful enough to rival House Targaryen at its peak, before the Dance of the Dragons." he finished.

The place fell silent for a while as they looked at Jon, feeling the aura he emanated, making everyone suffocate while he kept his gaze on each of them as if daring them to act against his will.

Everyone there could see they were not in front of a mere man, and they were not wrong: Jon was already a demigod.

"We will have to discuss this among ourselves, if you allow us." one of them said with difficulty, swallowing hard, while Jon began to cancel his aura, making the environment lighter.

"I understand, that's fine, that won't be a problem." Jon said.

"However, there is something I still want from you: it is Rhaella's crown, which was bought from Viserys Targaryen when he became a beggar. I want it back." Jon said with a serious and threatening look.

"The crown that was sold by the old beggar... we don't know where it is." someone said cautiously.

"You can say that, but that crown belongs to the Targaryen woman by my side, and she will have it back. So, if you have no idea where it is, I will search for it myself, and I guarantee it won't be a peaceful path."

"Most likely I will blow up some properties looking for it, but still, I will find it. You choose: either you try to hide it, if any of you know where it is, or you let me search for it myself." Jon spoke with a dangerous tone toward them, which certainly scared some, who knew they had information or even the crown itself in their possession.

But he gave them a chance not to make him look for it personally, which would repeat some of his raids in Westeros, and everyone knew they couldn't stop him from blowing open vaults across the city.

"Anyway, let's go, Dany." Jon said, as he left the throne, and with a small movement, began to disappear from the place, leaving only the floor slightly cracked due to his weight.

"Tomorrow I intend to come back here. I expect to hear your answer by then, and also some information about Rhaella's crown." he said, turning around while Daenerys quickly followed him, leaving the men there to digest everything they had heard and seen from Jon's words and actions.

They passed by the guards without any problems, with all of them still frozen, as they made their way out with Jon finding the exit without help.

They stepped out again onto the streets of Braavos, while Jon thought about what to do. It was already mid-afternoon, as the meeting with the Sea Lord had been in the morning, and he quickly managed to schedule the meeting with the twelve keyholders during the afternoon.

"What are we going to do now, Daemon?" Daenerys asked.

"Let's enjoy the city a little." Jon suggested, while she nodded, not exactly knowing what he was planning.

They continued walking again, receiving the same attention as when they had left the luxury inn, until Jon found a pier and saw some boats that were used to take nobles and very wealthy people around Braavos.

He approached one of them and exchanged a few words, while Daenerys waited a little distant, watching him hand over some gold coins. The man began to prepare the boat and looked at her, signaling for her to approach.

"Since we have nothing else to do, let's enjoy the city." Jon said with a small smile, while she nodded, with him extending his hand for her to lean on as she entered the boat, with the man waiting respectfully, already accustomed to dealing with nobles and wealthy people.

Jon wanted to relax, and Daenerys wouldn't mind having a boat ride either, especially being at his side.

It didn't take long for the man to start paddling towards the water, beginning to move the boat away from the pier and heading to a place where they had a broader view of the city.

"Thank you." Daenerys said beside him, while enjoying the view and the beauty of the city as they circled the noble area.

Jon looked at her with a raised eyebrow, questioning what she was thanking him for.

"I'm talking about the crown." she said, opening a small smile. "I didn't expect you to ask for it back, and even offer it to me..." she murmured. "I always dreamed of having it on my head again since we lost it, but since we arrived in Pentos, I saw that it was something increasingly distant to have."

"It belongs to you by right, Dany." Jon commented.

"It's the only thing I had from my mother, you know? They say she was a strong woman, mistreated after learning the truth, but I still believe she was a very strong woman." she commented.

"Yes, I won't say your father was a good person, or that he didn't deserve something far worse than just a sword driven into his chest through a betrayal by his Kingsguard. He was someone who basically destroyed our family through his madness. Your mother had to endure him for so many years... that I can't even imagine, though I know a little of the total suffering she endured. So yes, she was a very strong woman." he commented.

"Still, you are seeking the only memory I had of her... from a time when I still considered myself a princess. So, thank you, Jon." she murmured, throwing her arms around his and resting her head on his shoulder.

"..." Jon nodded but said nothing, as they stayed there watching the city, with the sunset coming a few hours later.
