Chapter 216: Chapter 215: Dango Milk
The moonlight was rich and serene. Yu Xie found himself witnessing a scene in the corner of the estate where Kitsune Saiguu and Shen He were spending time together. The emotions swirling in his heart were indescribably complex.
To him, the emotions of others sometimes became an invisible form of pressure.
It wasn't that he didn't want to respond; rather, he often didn't know how to.
At the end of the day, he was still just a young man in his twenties in this lifetime, lacking the wealth of life experience to handle such situations.
...
The next day, the sunlight was just right.
After getting up and freshening up, Yu Xie took a walk in the courtyard and happened to run into Shen He.
Shen He seemed a bit surprised. She paused for a moment, looking at Yu Xie, hesitated briefly, and then stepped toward him again.
The morning sunlight bathed Shen He, making the innocent and pure young woman appear even more radiant. Her silver hair reflected the morning light, and her elegant figure seemed even more beautiful under the sun.
"Did you sleep well last night?" Shen He's lips curved into a faint smile.
But Yu Xie noticed it. He could sense that Shen He was genuinely smiling from her heart at this moment. She gave off a feeling like the warm sun of spring melting the icy cold of winter.
"Not bad... How about you?" For some reason, Yu Xie suddenly felt at a loss for words.
At this moment, Shen He seemed a little different from the Shen He he had known before.
"I slept well too. The room Miss Kitsune Saiguu prepared was very comfortable," Shen He said, her faint smile lingering on her lips. "Last night, I spent a long time thinking alone, and it feels like I've figured something out."
"What... what is it?" Yu Xie asked instinctively.
However, the usually straightforward Shen He didn't answer directly this time. "I'll tell you later, is that okay?"
Shen He's response left Yu Xie momentarily stunned, but he soon smiled in understanding.
"Alright. Whenever you're ready to share, I'll be here to listen."
"Okay. Let's go have breakfast then. After that, aren't you going to train with Raiden Shogun?"
"How did you know?" Yu Xie asked, slightly surprised. He hadn't had the chance to tell Shen He about it yet.
"Miss Kitsune Saiguu told me," Shen He said, her smile growing more pronounced.
....
In the days that followed, Yu Xie would go to train with Ei every day, practicing how to control elemental power.
Makoto would sometimes see her sister spending an entire day with Yu Xie, but she only smiled silently at the sight.
Time passed.
When Yu Xie wielded the Musou Isshin, purple lightning coiled around him, accompanied by the roaring of thunder as if heaven's wrath had descended. Ei couldn't help but feel surprised.
In just a short period, Yu Xie's mastery of elemental power had visibly improved.
By now, he had reached a level that ordinary people could never achieve.
"This should be enough. Combined with your own strength, no one will be able to notice," Ei said as she observed Yu Xie before her.
Yu Xie put away the Musou Isshin, and the lightning elemental power faded along with it.
"It's hard to believe you've reached this level in such a short time. You truly are remarkable," Ei said, her gaze toward Yu Xie filled with admiration and pride.
"The train runs fast because the engine pulls it. It's all thanks to your excellent teaching, Master Ei," Yu Xie replied with a grin.
"I only offered occasional guidance. The real credit goes to your own talent," Ei said after a brief pause. "With this, you won't need to come to me for practice every day anymore…"
At this point, Ei suddenly fell silent.
It was only now that she realized that after today, these long hours spent together with Yu Xie every day seemed like they would become a thing of the past.
Although there were still many things about Yu Xie that she couldn't quite understand, at this moment, what she was certain of was the sense of reluctance that suddenly welled up in her heart.
"Thank you for your guidance, Master Ei. If you have time this evening, may I treat you to a meal?" Yu Xie asked.
After a brief hesitation, Ei nodded. "Alright, I won't decline."
Night fell.
To avoid being recognized when they went out, Ei disguised herself.
She changed into a more modest outfit and styled her hair into a high ponytail, giving her a touch of youthful charm.
When Yu Xie saw Ei in this look for the first time, he was slightly taken aback.
Should he say it was just as expected of Ei? No matter what she wore, her beauty and flawless figure were impossible to conceal, not to mention her extraordinary aura.
The plain clothing she wore had a unique charm on her, making even the simple outfit seem extraordinary.
Walking alongside Yu Xie on the brightly lit streets of Inazuma City, Ei looked around, her heart filled with mixed emotions.
Since Yu Xie's departure back then, it had been a very long time since she last came to the streets.
The streets now were vastly different from how she remembered them.
Most of the shops she was familiar with had changed, with only a few still standing, carrying on their legacy.
"Dressed like this, would it count as a secret royal inspection?" Yu Xie joked in a light tone.
"I'm just here to grab something to eat with you," Ei replied. "It doesn't count as a secret inspection."
Yu Xie turned to look at her. "What would you like to eat?"
"I'm not sure. You decide," Ei said.
"In that case…" Yu Xie thought for a moment and suddenly noticed a stall by the roadside. "Follow me."
Arriving at the stall with Ei, Yu Xie asked the vendor, "Boss, what's this?"
"Oh, this? This is a new drink I developed called 'Dango Milk.' It's a creative beverage that combines dango with milk," the vendor, a young man, explained enthusiastically as he noticed the customers.
"Give me two bottles," Yu Xie said.
"Alright! Thank you for your patronage!" The vendor quickly handed over two bottles of Dango Milk to Yu Xie but hesitated slightly when his eyes fell on Ei.
"Try it," Yu Xie said, passing one bottle to Ei.
Ei accepted the bottle and examined it carefully in her hands. She could catch the sweet aroma wafting from inside the bottle.
She then opened the cap and took a sip.
It was very sweet, very tasty, perfectly to Ei's liking. After all, she had always enjoyed sweet foods.
"It's very good," Ei said simply. That was her way—she wouldn't use too many adjectives, and such an evaluation from her was already high praise.
Yu Xie smiled faintly, opened his own bottle, and took a sip.
The taste caught him off guard.
Perhaps the stall owner hadn't quite mastered the balance of sweetness yet, as this bottle was overwhelmingly sweet—so sweet it was cloying.
However, seeing that Ei genuinely seemed to enjoy the Dango Milk, Yu Xie refrained from saying anything that might ruin the mood. After paying the bill, he simply left the stall with Ei.
The stall owner, however, seemed to notice Yu Xie's reaction. When it came time to settle the bill, he wore an apologetic smile and only charged Yu Xie for one bottle.
Watching the backs of Yu Xie and Ei as they gradually disappeared into the distance, the young vendor scratched his head.
"That lady looks so much like the Shogun… Could she really be the Shogun? And the man beside her..."
