Genshin Impact: This Trainee Fatui Harbinger is Too Unreliable

Chapter 316: This Trainee Fatui Harbinger is Too Unreliable [316]

After half a month had passed, and another night deepened the bond between him and Makoto, the next morning, Luo Qing gathered his large family and teleported to Liyue.

With only a few days left until the Lantern Rite, Liyue Harbor was already bustling with festivities, adorned with lanterns and decorations everywhere.

Once the Lantern Rite concluded, Luo Qing would set off for Fontaine.

Although he'd been to Fontaine a few times before, those trips were minor affairs, with Arlecchino providing protection that ensured no real danger.

But this time was different. He needed to seize the Hydro Archon's Gnosis from both the Archon and Arlecchino, delivering it to the Tsaritsa himself. It meant provoking both the Fontaine authorities and the Fatui.

Even though his "wives squad" was formidable, Luo Qing had no intention of dragging them into this perilous mission.

Thus, for this trip to Fontaine, he planned to take only his personal subordinates and Rosalyne along.

As for his wives—forget Makoto; he wasn't even planning to bring Theresa.

Luo Qing had a strong premonition that this journey to Fontaine would involve encountering formidable opponents.

The danger level would be off the charts.

So before departing, he wanted to fully indulge himself in Liyue.

A few days later

"Theresa, why are you sneaking in during the middle of the night again?"

Awakened from his sleep, Luo Qing saw a purple-haired girl on his bed and sighed in exasperation.

"Master, I just missed you..."

Theresa, her sleepy eyes half-closed, rubbed them with her hands. One strap of her pink nightgown had slipped off, revealing her delicate shoulder.

She yawned, then curled up into Luo Qing's embrace like a small, purple kitten.

"You two..."

At that moment, Makoto entered the room.

Whenever Bu'er wasn't around, Makoto's authority in the house was supreme.

"Breakfast is ready. Hurry up, both of you."

Makoto's tone was calm, as though she were unfazed by the sight of Luo Qing and Theresa lying together—even though she had spent the previous night sharing the room with Luo Qing.

"Oh, and one more thing."

Makoto glanced at Luo Qing and reminded him: "This is an absolute order: make sure Ayaka is here by tonight, and Bu'er as well. Everyone must be present for dinner. Got it?"

Despite her clashes with Bu'er, Makoto still acknowledged her in her own way.

Though Makoto was from Inazuma, she quickly adapted to Liyue's customs after arriving. She knew how significant tonight was; with the Lantern Rite beginning tomorrow, it was traditional for families to gather and share a reunion dinner this evening.

Considering Luo Qing's household spanned four nations, it would've been challenging to gather everyone without the help of teleportation.

"Alright. Ayaka's graduation exam should have ended by now," Luo Qing replied casually. "If needed, I'll just drag her here."

On the day they returned to Mondstadt, Luo Qing had visited Inazuma to invite Ayaka to Liyue for the Lantern Rite.

At the time, Ayaka mentioned she was preparing for her final bridal trial and insisted on finishing it before coming.

As for Bu'er, her situation was different—her bond with her daughter was exceptionally close.

Whenever she wasn't busy, Bu'er would head to Sumeru to assist Nahida with the Akademiya's affairs. Nearly every morning, she'd leave at dawn via teleportation, spend the day there, and return at night to be with Luo Qing. It was a routine befitting a career-driven woman.

Getting out of bed, Luo Qing gently removed Theresa clinging to him.

After washing up and eating breakfast, he donned Inazuman attire and teleported to Inazuma.

In an instant, darkness enveloped him. He found himself in a familiar wardrobe.

Opening the wardrobe door, Luo Qing stepped out into Ayaka's room, only to find it empty.

The tatami used for sleeping was neatly folded, suggesting Ayaka had been gone for some time.

Unfazed, Luo Qing walked out of Ayaka's room and headed down the hallway. But when he reached Ayato's room, it too was empty.

"Where is everyone?" Luo Qing muttered, puzzled.

Just as he was wondering where to look for Ayaka, he heard faint voices coming from the front hall of the Kamisato Estate.

Without hesitation, he followed the sound. Along the way, he noticed the usually well-guarded estate was eerily deserted, not a single retainer in sight.

Before long, Luo Qing found the source of the voices—the main hall of the Kamisato Estate.

Typically reserved for hosting esteemed guests or discussing important matters, the hall now had Ayaka kneeling in its center, dressed in an exquisite kimono bearing the Kamisato clan crest.

In front of her was a small, ornate table holding six sake cups and a sake set. The cups were arranged in pairs of large, medium, and small, alongside a tray with a specially designed sake pourer.

The only other person present was Ayato, standing off to the side with a solemn expression as he watched his younger sister.

This so-called bridal trial was entirely Ayato's invention. When he learned his sister had feelings for someone like Luo Qing, he kept it a tightly guarded secret—even from Thoma.

As the only person aware of it, Ayato had appointed himself the sole examiner for the final test, determined to assess just how deeply his sister cared for that scoundrel.

To maintain secrecy and avoid rumors, Ayato had even given all the estate's retainers and guards the day off, ensuring absolute privacy.

"Now for the final step—sharing the ceremonial sake," Ayato instructed, his arms crossed. "Let's begin."

"But, Brother..."

Ayaka, kneeling before the table, hesitated. "It's just the two of us here... How can I complete the exchange?"

"You'll have to figure it out," Ayato replied nonchalantly. "As the examiner, I'm only here to evaluate your posture and actions, not to solve your problems."

The thought of his precious sister marrying someone like Luo Qing filled him with unrelenting irritation.

The fact he wasn't actively sabotaging the trial was already a mercy.

Helping? Out of the question!

"Hmm..."

Ayaka looked troubled.

The sake-sharing ceremony required two participants. Doing it alone would mean exchanging cups with thin air, which felt absurd.

But this was a pivotal ritual—not something she could casually improvise.

Just then, footsteps echoed from outside the hall.

"How about I give it a try?"

Both siblings turned toward the door.

Luo Qing entered with a lighthearted smile.

"Luo Qing..."

The murderous glare Ayato shot at him was unmistakable.

If looks could kill, Luo Qing would've been sliced to ribbons by now.

"Good day, Brother-in-law," Luo Qing greeted cheerfully before settling opposite Ayaka with a gentle smile.

"Ayaka, let me be your practice partner."

"Would that be alright?"
