Chapter 2: The Immortal Lord of Yin and Yang
"My name is Meleaus, Morax. Then, I shall make my move."
Qiu Bai's expression shifted slightly as he clasped his hands in greeting.
As soon as he spoke, the Taiji Diagram on his waist began to glow, and in an instant, a sword materialized in his hand.
With a single slash, a terrifying wave of black and white sword energy shot toward Morax! A deafening explosion echoed through the heavens, scattering the clouds. Below, the trees and grass bent and snapped under the shockwave.
Morax calmly extended both hands.
"As steady as a rock."
As the smoke cleared, he remained in the air—completely unharmed.
Qiu Bai's grip on his sword tightened, his brows furrowed.
"This must be the legendary 'no damage despite all the smoke' rule… How strong."
Morax, seemingly unbothered, examined Qiu Bai with quiet curiosity.
"This friend of mine possesses great strength—far beyond any Archon I have encountered."
Despite his composed tone, cracks had already begun to form on the geo shield surrounding him.
Morax's golden eyes flickered slightly.
"Friend, I will now strike back."
Without further warning, a geo spear materialized in Morax's hand. He hurled it toward Qiu Bai—it looked deceptively effortless, yet the spear shot forward at terrifying speed.
"Damn! A handcrafted Vortex Vanquisher?!"
Qiu Bai reacted instantly, unleashing Yin and Yang energy in an attempt to deflect it. The swirling forces surged forward to meet the spear… but in the blink of an eye, the geo spear pierced straight through, dispersing his attack as if it were nothing!
Qiu Bai's pupils shrank sharply.
"Unbelievable… No wonder he's the strongest of the Seven Archons, the oldest god in existence."
Seeing the spear closing in fast, Qiu Bai gritted his teeth and gathered Yin and Yang energy in both hands, forming a barrier to intercept the attack.
Yet, the sheer force of the impact sent him hurtling through the air. He smashed through two mountains, carving deep craters into them. Even so, he managed to remain standing, feet firmly embedded in the ground as he held the spear at bay.
"This is insane… This strength is beyond absurd! Break!"
Summoning all his might, Qiu Bai shattered the geo spear.
Without hesitation, he teleported behind Morax and threw a devastating punch.
Morax barely had time to react. Unable to raise his shield in time, he crossed his arms to block the attack.
BOOM!
A thunderous shockwave erupted.
But when the dust settled, Morax had not moved an inch. His expression remained as calm as ever, as if the attack had never happened.
…
By now, the adepti of Guili Assembly had arrived.
The civilians, still on Ganyu's back, looked up in awe at the battle between the Geo Archon and the mysterious figure in the sky.
"Look! Who is that fighting Lord Morax?!"
"The Emperor seems to be facing off against an Archon! We must go assist him at once!"
Cloud Retainer's expression was solemn as she prepared to ascend.
"Wait, Cloud Retainer!"
Ganyu's sudden cry nearly made him lose his balance mid-air
"The Emperor… he doesn't seem to be fighting seriously. It looks more like… a sparring match?"
Cloud Retainer hesitated for a moment, then she frowned.
"The Lord of Geo must have his reasons."
Nearby, Xiao stood leaning against a tree, his eyes never leaving the battle above.
At this point in time, Xiao was still pure and untainted, unlike in later generations when he had been corrupted by the remnants of fallen gods, his body burdened with karmic debt. The Yaksha race still thrived.
"Even if we went up there… I doubt we could do much to help."
Moon Carver spoke rationally.
"Do you doubt the strength of the Emperor?"
Mountain Shaper reminded the group.
Marcus, watching the battle with a simple expression, muttered, "We should just observe for now."
This era of Liyue was still teeming with adepti, all sworn followers of Morax.
…
Qiu Bai had no time to focus on the onlookers. He kept his gaze locked on Morax, his expression tense.
With a determined grit, he activated his Yin and Yang incarnations.
Two identical figures split from his body, flanking Morax on either side. Both unleashed powerful Yin and Yang blasts, closing in from opposite directions.
"At this distance, even Morax won't be able to block it!"
He wasn't taking any chances—his incarnations attacked swiftly.
But then—
"Friend, your incarnations… are quite interesting."
"What?!"
Before Qiu Bai could react, Morax had already appeared behind him.
He spun around, condensing Yin and Yang energy into a blade and slashing without hesitation.
Morax countered instantly—his geo spear forming in his hands as he parried the strike. The clash of energy sent powerful ripples through the sky.
"Damn… what overwhelming power!"
Qiu Bai's instincts screamed at him that something was wrong.
It was too late.
Just as he braced himself for another mountain-shattering impact, Morax…
…stopped.
The battle was over.
"Friend, let us end here. You should now have a clearer grasp of your own strength," Morax said calmly.
Qiu Bai wanted to scream.
"CLEAR GRASP?! I was nearly launched into another mountain, and you're asking if I understand my strength?!"
Even so, he took a deep breath and clasped his hands in gratitude.
"I believe I do now. My thanks, friend. Without you, I wouldn't have understood my true power."
Morax chuckled.
"You give me too much credit. Even without my assistance, you would have grown into your strength in time."
…
Qiu Bai's gaze turned toward Guili Assembly. The town lay in ruins—homes destroyed, floodwaters swallowing the farmland.
Though Liyue Harbor was not far, the storm made travel nearly impossible. If not for the adepti's protection, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
His heart ached at the sight.
"Morax, I can use my incarnations to aid the people of Guili Assembly."
Morax followed his gaze and nodded.
"If you are willing to help, that would be most welcome."
Then, he turned back to Qiu Bai, his voice steady.
"When this is settled, come to Jueyun Karst for a discussion."
"…I cannot refuse such an invitation. I will not break my word."
Qiu Bai bowed.
"Very well."
With that, Morax's figure vanished.
…
Wasting no time, Qiu Bai sent his incarnations toward Guili Assembly.
Cloud Retainer, who had been about to intervene, found himself stopped by a massive puppet-like hand.
"Cloud Retainer, no need to stop him. I heard what he and Morax said. He's a good man."
Marcus smiled as he gestured toward Qiu Bai.
…
The white-clad incarnation descended upon Guili Assembly, radiating Yang energy. Those who were exhausted, sick, or unconscious found their strength restored.
Meanwhile, the black-clad incarnation unleashed Yin energy into the sky, scattering the storm clouds and bringing forth a warm ray of sunlight.
"The adepti… the adepti have saved us!"
Tears of joy welled in the eyes of the townsfolk.
A mother, holding her now-healed child, sobbed.
"Thank you, Immortal… thank you!"
"Mom, I feel so warm."
""Silly child… The Adeptus saved you."
…
With his task complete, Qiu Bai recalled his incarnations and flew down to Guili Assembly.
Ganyu, now in her human form, approached with visible relief.
"That was incredible… Thank you so much!"
Qiu Bai smiled. "No need to thank me, it was nothing."
As he looked at Ganyu up close, he couldn't help but marvel. So this is Ganyu… I've never seen her this near before. She's even more beautiful in person.
A strange thought crossed his mind.
Why do I feel a sense of reverence?
At that moment, Ganyu finally got a good look at Qiu Bai's face. Her cheeks flushed red as she stared at him, dazed.
Qiu Bai raised an eyebrow.
"What's wrong? Are you running a fever? No… Adepti shouldn't get sick, right?"
Without thinking, he reached out to check her forehead.
"Ah! Sir, p-please don't touch my head!"
Ganyu's face turned an even deeper shade of red as she hurriedly backed away—only to bump into a tree in her flustered state.
Qiu Bai stared at her, dumbfounded.
She's way too cute.
"Hmph! Such inappropriate behavior! Where is your dignity?"
Cloud Retainer, standing nearby, let out a disapproving snort.
...
Meanwhile, the people of Guili Assembly continued whispering among themselves, their gazes still fixed on Qiu Bai.
"A new Adeptus… and he fought on equal footing with the Lord of Geo? He must be incredibly powerful."
"Look at his waist… That's no Vision—it's a Yin-Yang emblem."
A storyteller, having observed the entire scene, turned to the gathered crowd.
"From this day forth, let us call this Adeptus… the Immortal Lord of Yin and Yang!"
