Global Apocalypse: The True Young Master Awakens and Tames the Villain

Chapter 44

Holding the white Pomeranian in his arms, Zhao Simo stroked the puppy’s soft hair and retracted his hand before Liu Jin’an exploded and bit him.

“Be obedient. You are a dog appearing for the first time, and it’s easy to arouse the suspicion of those big drug lords.”

Zhao Simo weighed the puppy in his arms and said, “They are not vegetarians. Without me, you can’t even think about getting through.”

And scaring people.

Not wanting to cause trouble, Liu Jin’an grunted and pointed his butt at Zhao Simo.

Zhao Simo fulfilled his promise and arrived safely at Zhang Yaoyao’s hiding place with the two puppies. He also packed a lot of food into his backpack and brought it with him.

Huang Dabei didn’t need to lead the way. Zhao Simo, who had the power of perception, was not deceived by illusions or disguise powers of the same level.

“Who?”

As soon as Zhao Simo entered the door, everyone in the room immediately became alert.

It wasn’t until they saw Huang Dabei at the man’s feet that the tense atmosphere eased.

Liu Jin’an couldn’t wait to jump to the ground from Zhao Simo’s arms. Under the astonished eyes of everyone, he and Huang Dabei transformed back into human form.

“Boss!”

“Xiao An!”

“Liu Jin’an, why are you here?” Xu Zhaoxin asked disapprovingly. He could only leave at this time. “Dabei, you shouldn’t have come back.”

“Okay, you’re hurt, stop talking,” Liu Jin’an rolled his eyes. “Mr. Zhao, we are meeting old friends and have some private matters to discuss.”

Zhao Simo spread his hands and said, “Please.”

Liu Jin’an replied, “Why don’t you go out?”

“It’s not that I want to eavesdrop. The security outside is so tight now, and my target is too obvious.”

Zhao Simo justified, “If I get exposed when I go out, none of us will make it out.”

All excuses.

Liu Jin’an had no doubt that Zhao Simo already knew he had a spiritual treasure. He stayed there just to see what effect his spiritual treasure could have.

It was also Liu Jin’an’s fault for being too impatient. Maybe he had shown a flaw when trying to drive people away, which had been noticed by the old fox.

Ignoring Zhao Simo’s provocative gaze, Liu Jin’an inspected the bodies of the two injured people.

Their condition was better than he had expected.

Xu Zhaoxin’s injury was relatively minor. According to his own description, his broken ribs caused pain every time he breathed. Over the past few days, the pain had significantly reduced.

But Yang Shu’s injury was not optimistic. He had been in a coma for a day and a night. If he didn’t receive proper treatment, his injured leg would be permanently useless.

Liu Jin’an originally wanted to hide his spiritual treasure.

Then he thought, even if he could hide it, Yang Shu and Xu Zhaoxin’s injuries would not deceive others.

With the eyes of an old fox-like Zhao Simo, it was impossible not to guess the effects of his spiritual treasure.

Deciding to be generous and let him see enough, Liu Jin’an placed his palm on Xu Zhaoxin’s abdomen, activating the spiritual treasure. Warm blue fluorescence continuously flowed into Xu Zhaoxin’s body.

“Liu Jin’an, don’t touch me! I’m ticklish! Hahaha!”

Xu Zhaoxin still tried to avoid it, but suddenly, the pain that had been bothering him disappeared.

Although the rib fracture wasn’t serious, the pain had been long and difficult to endure.

For several nights, he had tossed and turned in pain but endured it so as not to disturb others.

Liu Jin’an simply pressed his hand on his abdomen, and the pain vanished instantly.

Xu Zhaoxin immediately thought of a possibility.

“Xiao Tiantian, what should I do? Even I can’t help but want to take you back,” Zhao Simo said, licking his lips.

It was actually a spiritual treasure with healing powers. In his eyes, Liu Jin’an’s value far exceeded that of the entire Yuncheng Corps.

Liu Jin’an knew that the exposure of his spiritual treasure would definitely bring him a lot of trouble.

After all, this old fox was someone who dared to fool even the protagonist group.

After healing Xu Zhaoxin and Yang Shu, Liu Jin’an divided the food Zhao Simo had brought among everyone and explained the escape plan while they ate.

Yang Shu had just woken up, and Zhang Yaoyao helped him with water and food. Hearing the conversation, his gaze shifted toward Zhao Simo. “Jin’an, is he trustworthy?” he asked cautiously.

“Trustworthy,” Liu Jin’an replied firmly.

“Haha, Xiao Tiantian really likes me. Don’t worry, I won’t betray your trust,” Zhao Simo said, winking playfully at Liu Jin’an.

Xu Zhaoxin leaned in and whispered, “Old Yang, I think he deserves a beating.”

“Same feeling,” Yang Shu agreed, though his expression grew more serious.

He couldn’t shake the strong sense of danger he felt from Zhao Simo. It was a presence honed by the brutality of battlefields and the devastation of artillery fire. Yang Shu had no doubt that Zhao Simo had taken at least ten lives.

With the prospect of escape growing closer, the atmosphere in the small room eased for the first time in days. Wang Mazi and the others began reporting what had transpired while Liu Jin’an had been away.

Wang Mazi had awakened an ability to camouflage the environment, Hei Xuanfeng had developed superhuman strength, and although Zhao Tiezhu hadn’t awakened any powers, his physical fitness had improved dramatically. Zhang Yaoyao now controlled water-based powers, Xu Zhaoxin had developed enhanced cognitive abilities, and Yang Shu had awakened a shadow attack ability.

The shadow attack power allowed him to harm a person’s body by targeting their shadow.

Zhao Simo’s interest was immediately piqued. “That’s a powerful ability. Have you considered—”

“He’s just recovered from a serious illness and needs to rest,” Liu Jin’an interrupted coldly. “I promised to help you. That’s my personal decision, so don’t involve anyone else.”

“Alright, alright, I’ll listen to Xiao Tiantian.” Zhao Simo smirked, pointing to the door. “I’m going out for a walk. I’ll check back in later.”

After Zhao Simo left, Wang Mazi couldn’t help but ask, “Boss, who is that guy? Where’s he from, and why’s he so arrogant?”

Liu Jin’an sighed. “Honestly, I don’t know much about his background, so let’s not dwell on him.”

Turning to Zhang Yaoyao, Liu Jin’an softened his tone. “Sister Zhang, the ones who killed Brother Zhou… we’ve avenged him. They’re gone now.”

Zhang Yaoyao froze; her expression unreadable for a moment. Slowly, her lips curved into a faint smile, but tears spilled from her eyes.

“Thank you, Xiao An… and Xiao Hu and the others. Thank you so much.”

She gently pulled out an urn from her backpack and murmured, “Zhou Yuan, did you hear that? Xiao An and the others avenged you. You can rest in peace now.”

Liu Jin’an patted her shoulder gently. “Sister Zhang, please take care of yourself.”

“I know,” she said, wiping her tears away. “But right now, the priority is escaping from here as planned.”

Minutes dragged by until the appointed time finally arrived.

Huang Dabei transformed into yellow Pomeranian, pressing his ear against the wall to listen for any activity outside.

Hearing the sound of rolling wheels, he nodded excitedly to the group. Moments later, Zhao Simo’s voice boomed nearby, giving orders in Burmese: “Go move some empty boxes into my dormitory.”

“But the dormitory is so far away. Why don’t we just drive the truck over there?” someone asked.

“If I told you to move, then move! Do you want a bullet in your head?” Zhao Simo snapped impatiently.

After the patrolling guards had left, Zhao Simo rushed to inform the group. He helped them hide inside wooden boxes stacked at the back of the truck.

Liu Jin’an gave him a concerned look. “Don’t you need to handle the surveillance?”

“The guys in the monitoring room are drunk—courtesy of me,” Zhao Simo explained. “After you’re gone, I’ll clean up all traces.”

For a moment, he dropped his usual smug demeanour and sounded almost professional. But it didn’t last long. Zhao Simo’s trademark grin returned as he added, “Is Xiao Tiantian worried about me? I’m so touched!”

Liu Jin’an ignored him, focusing instead on making sure everyone was hidden.

Afterward, the man returned and stacked more empty boxes on top of the truck, effectively creating another layer of protection for the group.

The truck began moving, its engine purring steadily as it rolled toward the exit. Zhao Simo hummed a light tune as he drove, nearing the hospital gate.

“Wait!” someone called out.

The voice belonged to a man who spoke fluent Mandarin. “Open the wooden boxes. I want to inspect them.”

He stepped closer, addressing Zhao Simo directly. “Xiao Zhao, you don’t mind, do you?”
