Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

It didn't take that long before everyone saw what they were dealing with.

It was a monstrous being with its head almost hitting the ceiling already.

This creature was tall, towering at nearly eight feet tall. It was certainly not a human but it didn't feel like it was a Zombie either…

It felt as if they were dealing with an alien instead!

The creature had four arms that were extending from its malformed torso, each arm had clawed fingers, telling them that it was the creature trying to open the metal door at the entrance.

Those fingers definitely matched the marks on the door!

However, it wasn't just that, it had four glowing eyes, arranged in a diamond pattern on its face!

Those eyes scanned the group with eerie intelligence. Indeed, those eyes weren't deranged like the Zombie's. Instead, it seemed really thinking about what to do with the visitors it was seeing for the first time!

The fact that it didn't immediately pounce on them, shows that it had some intelligence or instinct that helped him not to act rashly on something unexpected. Shane didn't doubt it at all.

Anyway, part of its skin was a mix of exposed muscle and hardened carapace. It also had veins filled with glowing green liquid that coursed through its body, emitting a faint luminescence in the dark.

It was such an interesting sight. It doesn't really look like a Zombie but an Alien from outer space instead.

"Is that... Subject #12A?" Kale whispered while gripping his halberd tightly.

"Whatever it is, it's not friendly," Shane replied as he narrowed his eyes. Though the creature was certainly hesitating for a moment after seeing humans after a very long time, Shane could tell that it wasn't here to talk or become friends with them as well.

As expected, even the system was finally triggered. Lysandra and Shane glanced at each other after seeing this.

There wasn't any long description of its background or any mission that was given to them. It was just simple information regarding the creature that was in front of the team.

Nonetheless, this confirmed their guess that the four-eyed and four-armed creature was indeed not a Zombie but a mutant instead.

If it was not Subject#12A, it was definitely similar to its kind.

Finally, after a few moments of hesitation, the creature let out a shriek and ran forward with slow speed… However, with its long limbs, it was able to approach them so quickly!

Shane barely had time to shout, "Spread out!"

They weren't sure of its strength and its close combat abilities, so blocking it head-on was definitely not a good idea.

It would be better to attack it from a distance for now.

The group split, they dodged one of the creature's arms that smashed into the ground!

Boom!

It left a crater where they had stood.

Shane activated Stormpiercer Rifle's Lightning Strike, firing an electrified projectile directly at the creature's chest.

Bang!

The bolt struck perfecting, sending arcs of electricity coursing through its body.

The Quad-Maw seemed shocked but it didn't fall. No, to be exact, it seemed almost uninjured and was simply curious what hit its body!

There was only a small black mark on its skin…

Furthermore, this black mark began to clear up almost immediately!

"Regeneration confirmed!" Lysandra muttered.

She then unleashed a series of Exploding Arrows, enveloping the creature in fire. Unlike the rifle, the flames seemed to linger, slowing the healing process.

Well, it certainly seemed more effective.

"Focus on burning attacks!" Shane ordered, switching to Chain Bolt mode. He fired another round, this time hitting the creature's right shoulder. The bolt ricocheted, striking its other limbs, and forcing it back.

'I didn't know it could do that.' Shane thought as he only knew of using Chain Bolt to hit multiple Zombies. He didn't expect that it could also be used to hit multiple parts of the target.

Anyway, the Quad-Maw retaliated, spewing a noxious green mist from its mouth.

With the warning from the system a while ago, they knew what was coming.

"Toxic spit incoming!" Lysandran warned as she looked at Shane.

Of course, the latter was already on it and activated his Aura Sentinel. Although everyone still had their gas mask on, it may not help at all against a toxic spit from such a powerful monster.

The mist or spit sizzled against the Aura Sentinel, but Shane was consuming a lot of Spirit Points, telling him that the strength of the Toxic Spit was definitely at the level of a Lord Tier Zombie.

The others could also tell this much after seeing how the Aura Sentinel which was normally indestructible was slowly being dismantled.

"We can't let it keep doing that!" Kale shouted as he charged forward. This shout was also filled with his Guardian's Warcry which had quite similar effects to Titan's Roar.

Anyway, he wasn't afraid of confronting this creature with all the benefits he received from Shane.

Furthermore, he could trust his own abilities.

He then activated one of his most powerful abilities, Titanbreaker Skill!

This could basically allow him to become an unstoppable force, but it had some negative effects after usage. Nonetheless, he didn't care about the negative effects right now.

With his sudden burst of speed, he struck his halberd into one of the creature's legs.

The blow almost severed the limb, causing the creature to roar in pain—but within moments, the limb began to regenerate!

"Careful!" Lysandra shouted as the four arms of the creature tried to grab Kale… The latter was able to back out but the halberd was caught!

"What—" Kale held the halberd tightly and tried to take it away…

However, he immediately found himself being lifted and was about to be thrown away!

Thankfully, Shane quickly acted and shot the hands of the creature with Chain Bolt!

The creature released its grip but it already gained enough momentum to throw Kale away!

Bam!

Kale crashed into a wall, and though he was dizzy, he wasn't heavily injured.

"This thing is a nightmare," Nia muttered as she had been trying to use her Thorn Barrier all this time to bind the creature's feet, but it was completely ignored by the creature.

It wasn't helping at all!

Nonetheless, there was no time for respite and they just had to try…

Shane's mind raced as he needed to kill this creature without destroying this place! He could use a few powerful abilities he learned from the Fairy Realm but that would certainly affect their surroundings and the facility might even collapse in the process.

Anyway, he needed a swift and not groundbreaking ability to kill this creature…

"Lysandra, keep hitting it with flames to slow the regeneration. Vernon, aim for its joints. Then, try to target its eye… it's probably one of its weak points!" Shane said as he immediately moved forward and fought against the creature while only wearing the Dreadlord Set! He actually stored his rifle inside his Inventory!

"I'll tank it while Nia heals Kale…" Shane added.

They weren't sure if that was a good idea but they trusted Shane's judgment. If they could tell that the strength of this creature was overwhelming, Shane must've noticed that as well.

Since he was still confident, he certainly had aces up his sleeves.

As Lysandra launched another volley of exploding arrows, Shane charged with Phantom Rush and used his Brawler's Fury, Predator's Edge, and Energy Wave to fight equally against the four-armed creature…

"Cover me!" Shane shouted as he knew that it wouldn't be enough against a regenerating creature.

Nia then activated her Thorn Barrier once against trapping the feet of the creature… This time, since it was being overwhelmed by Shane's attacks, it successfully wrapped the creature's legs, halting its movement just long enough.

Shane then intensified their attacks. The punches struck the creature's vein, causing it to explode in a spray of green liquid.

The Quad-Maw let out an agonized scream, collapsing to one knee.

"Now!" Shane yelled. The team launched a coordinated assault.

Lysandra had even stored her weapon and changed it into a sword! Then, she cleaved through another glowing vein, while Shane continued to attack it.

Well, it must be remembered that the Dreadlord Set gives various debuffs to the enemy while increasing the wearer's damage. Furthermore, of the three Set Effects, one of them was the Harbinger's Touch. It was a passive skill that could be triggered if he wore four of the seven Dreadlord Items.

This ability saps the enemy's health and energy!

With this addition, it was only a matter of time until the creature could no longer endure their attacks!

Finally, Shane struck with his 14th full stack of Brawler's Fury!

It means that this was his 126th punch since he only needed 9 punches for a full stack of Brawler's Fury!

Most High-Level Zombies couldn't even survive 1 stack! However, this monster endured 14 of them already!

Thankfully, as soon as Shane struck its head, the power it contained passed through its brain and shut down its regenerative ability entirely!
