Chapter 649: Against the Zombie Lord
Boom!
Flames engulfed the remains of the watchtower where Tieria was previously only...
Numerous debris scattered as the wooden beams collapsed under the impact...
"Tieria! Are you okay?" Diana asked as she looked at the smoke and dust covering the area…
At the same time, she was also asking the other technicians to repair the hole in the Barrier that they had set up…
Soon, Diana heard reports that they had sighted Tieria's body. He had been thrown from the tower and seemed to have been dizzied by the explosion.
His sniper rifle was nowhere in sight. His cloak was scorched, and parts of his gear melted. Yet, against all odds, his body seemed to be injured.
Apparently, there was a pale blue light that shimmered faintly over his heart—a translucent barrier had formed just in time, like a bubble of life against certain death.
He just used two Tokens just now. One of them was the Safety Protection Token but after it was destroyed from the blast, he had to rely on his Acacia's Mystic Protection Token.
[ Acacia's Mystic Protection Token: A finely carved token from acacia wood, bearing the engraved symbol of a tree. Infused with both Aura Sentinel and Phantasm Rush. Activated by spending a small amount of Spirit Points, this token could grant several effects.
Effect:
Sustained Protection: Envelops the user in a regenerative aura that alerts to any hostile presence within a 50-meter radius, all while boosting agility and stealth.
Stealthy Move: The bearer gains heightened awareness of dangers nearby and becomes a near-invisible figure in any terrain, able to scale surfaces with ease and rapidly retreat if needed.
Activation Cost: 10 Spirit Points per minute
Usage: 27/50
Remarks: created by Shadow Strider ]
Tieria gasped as he realized what had just happened. His mechanical eye moved erratically as the lens recalibrated, struggling to process the chaos around him.
The token had saved his life—but just barely. He rolled over, coughing from the dust, as he assessed his body… Thankfully, the Sustained Protection effect continued to regenerate his injuries.
"That… was close," he muttered as he pressed his trembling hand against his side where bruises were starting to heal.
Diana's voice crackled through the half-damaged comm device strapped to his wrist. "Tieria?! You're alive?! What happened?!"
He coughed again, then winced as he sat up.
"I should be the one asking that? What happened? I just saw a fireball coming at me..."
Before he could say more, a shockwave rippled through the air, followed by a deafening roar.
Soon, the advancing Zombie Horde halted for a moment…
It appears that the first Zombie Lord of their Shelter had finally arrived!
From the very back of the Zombie Horde, a Zombie with an incredible aura emerged.
It was unlike any Zombie Lord they had encountered so far.
Standing over four meters tall, its body seemed to be a fusion of bloated flesh and molten stone.
Veins of lava coursed through its right arms and it was definitely the one who had thrown the ball of fire that pierced through their barrier just now!
[ Zombie Lord Bal has entered the battlefield. ]
[ Name: Bal the Blazing Tyrant
Type: Infernal Undead
Threat Level: Catastrophic
Description: Bal the Blazing Tyrant is a rare Fire-Type Zombie Lord, born from the fusion of a volcanic elemental beast and a rotting high-tier corpse. Its flesh is filled with molten rock, and its heart is replaced by an Inferno Core capable of generating catastrophic firestorms. Bal commands flame-bound undead and spews explosive fireballs. It regenerates by absorbing ambient heat and fire, growing more volatile over time.
Prolonged combat is dangerous. High environmental damage risk. Immediate extermination is advised. ]
A Zombie Lord born from a fusion of a volcanic beast and a corpse. How it made it this far without being noticed, no one knew.
But now, it was here…
With one raised arm, Bal slammed its molten fist onto the earth.
BOom!
The impact sent a shockwave that cracked the already fractured wall—chunks of stone and steel were flung like missiles.
Then, it opened its mouth and spat another fireball. This one was thrown directly toward the western barrier line.
Tieria, still injured, could only watch this happen. Even the medic team assisting him to bring him to the rear were also worried about the situation…
Thankfully, the fireball was intercepted—
BOOM!
A massive ice wall emerged just in time.
Minerva, covered in burns and dirt, had raised her mechanical arm and activated one of the embedded Ice Crystals.
Steam hissed where fire met frost, but the explosion still tore through the upper part of the wall, killing three Warden Units who had been stationed at the top.
"Damn it! It's a Fire-Type Zombie Lord!" she shouted. "Form up! Protect the shelter!"
Diana was also done arranging some of the response units, and soon, her latest command was heard through the comms. "All heavy units, reinforce the western front! Long-range teams, suppress that monster! If we don't stop it, the entire western section will fall!"

With the appearance of the Zombie Lord, the battle intensified.
The Blazing Tyrant roared again, and with it, a wave of fire-bound undead rose from the earth. At this point, the snow had already melted…
These fire-bound undead creatures were like Zombies wrapped in flames…
They charged like berserkers, tearing through barricades and engaging Warden Units in close combat.
"Hold the line!" Minerva shouted while her hammer continued to ram on their bodies...
Soon, she leaped into the crowd, smashing one fire Zombie into a pile of flesh…
Tieria, after being briefly treated with a potion, decided to pick up his reserve rifle to help.
It wasn't his favorite weapon, but it would have to do.
From behind a chunk of broken wall, he provided cover fire, targeting the fire Zombie's head to slow their advance.
Meanwhile, Zephyrion, hearing of the calamity on the western front, dispatched two Corpse Golems and five Silver Skeletons to reinforce them.
[ Corpse Golem: A hulking mass of sewn flesh and bone. Slow but extremely durable. Great for frontline tanking.
Type: Heavy Undead
Cost: 80 Spirit Points
Vitality: 12,000
Abilities: Smash ( Active ): Deals massive AoE damage by slamming the ground.

[ Silver Skeleton: Reanimated with silver-infused bones, resistant to decay and disease. Fast and precise melee combatant.
Type: Elite Undead
Cost: 10 Spirit Points
HP: 3,500

Silver Body (Passive): Attacks deal bonus damage to Plagued and Corrosive enemies.
Quick Step (Active): Short dash to evade or close gaps. Cooldown: 10s ]
With their appearance, the pressure on their side immediately lessened.
The undead summons collided with the Fire Zombies!
Silver bone versus burning flesh!
Thankfully, the Silver Skeletons were highly resistant and weren't burned to easily.
On the other hand, the Corpse Golems were easily caught in fir,e but they were able to ignore it because of their high vitality!
Bal the Blazing Tyrant had then begun charging a massive fireball, but before he could unleash it, something happened.
BOOM!
A bolt of energy slammed into his side.
Lysandra had arrived, flanked by the last of the Elite Warden Units!
Her wolves were already gone, but her sword burned with Spirit Flame, and her Shadowmeld had perfectly hidden her during her approach!
"Focus fire on the Lord! Don't let it charge up again!" she shouted.
Tieria, after killing a few Fire Zombies, finally spotted his original sniper rifle lodged under rubble. He immediately retrieved it…
It was a Legendary Sniper Rifle after all…
A part of it was damaged, but he reassembled it in record time and set up a new position.
Soon, he took a deep breath.
"Let's end this."
Apparently, almost all the Zombie Horde had already been killed by the various Turrets, Flamethrowers, and Elven Archers. Now, they just had to focus on the Zombie Lord!
With that said, he activated his Mechanical Eye's abilities. Well, it wasn't just a prosthetic eye, after all.
[ Ability Activated: Deadeye Precision ]
[ Weapon Modifier: Silver-Piercer Rounds – High Penetration ]
Tieria's eye zoomed in, locking onto the small fissure in Bal's chest… It seemed like the Zombie Core was actually located on that spot.
BOOM.
The bullet flew, and it happened so fast…
In just a moment, it pierced into the Tyrant's chest!
"NOW!" Lysandra shouted.
Minerva, who had just arrived in time, leaped!
Her hammer was already filled with energy as she activated Power Smash, a skill enhanced by her mechanical arm.
She slammed it directly into the chest wound made by Tieria's shot.
BOOOOOOM!
The explosion sent the Zombie Lord stumbling!
Then, it was at this time that the Silver Skeletons surged in to hack at its legs while Corpse Golems pummeled its arms.
But the beast wouldn't go down easily!
"Ahahaha! Die!"
The Zombie Lord laughed and with another roar, Bal the Blazing Tyrant unleashed a death explosion!
Suddenly, fire and molten rock surged in all directions. The blast destroyed part of the wall, sent Minerva flying, incinerated three more Warden Units, killed the Corpse Golem, destroyed the silver Skeleton, and shattered the defensive barrier's west section entirely!
