Chapter 85: Dead, At last.
It's a shame I have to do this. Oh well, I can always recreate him with assembly.
The horde surged toward David. After having been stopped from fighting the headless, Raven didn't want to miss the second chance and charged ahead.
Through Hyper-charge, Raven tore through the crowd of Sprinters and slammed against David. The latter toppled over from the force.
"Step back," Marrow announced as a golden wisp descended on David.
David tried to escape, but the ground under his feet suddenly collapsed. Fester immediately scurried away, not wanting to get caught in the crossfire.
Blaze saw it and instructed the sprinters to jump into the hole, pinning David down.
As they did, he cut off his connection with them, just in case Marrow's ability caused issues for him or vice versa.
"GRRR!"
David groaned in pain as soon as the light touched his rotting skin. Smoke rose to the sky as its skin burned. Still, Blaze was surprised.
He had seen Marrow take out many undead with her healing. The fact that David didn't die instantly took him by surprise.
However, he couldn't observe the fight for long. From the corner of his eye, Blaze caught the Headless lowering itself. Its feet dug into the ground as it turned towards David.
Not this time.
A tendril emerged from his back, wrapping tightly around his leg. Blaze planted his other leg deep in the ground for balance and waited.
A second later, the Headless charged jumped towards David. Just then, Blaze swung his tendril-wrapped leg with all his strength.
His kick slammed into the Headless's chest like a battering ram. The impact was so strong it generated shockwaves, which cracked the ground.
The Headless's body bent in midair. Its feet dangled mid-air before the force sent it flying back. It rolled on the ground three times before digging its hands in to stop its momentum.
It skidded across the dirt, tearing the ground with all its limbs before coming to a stop.
"Grrr…"
The Headless hissed, as if expressing its frustration. But there was something else hidden behind it. A question.
Moments ago, it rivaled Blaze in terms of strength. Suddenly, it got flung back with a single kick. How was it possible?
With a smirk, Blaze lowered his leg. The tendril wrapped around it was squashed flat. It didn't survive the brutal impact, but it did its work.
Equivalent strength. It's a shame I didn't think of it earlier.
After Blaze unlocked the Asura mutation, the system informed him about the tendrils. Each tentacle had his full strength in it. So, when he wrapped one around his leg, his kick became twice as strong as normal.
Despite using all that strength, there wasn't a single scratch on the Headless.
I should've used more of them.
As much as he wanted to, there were issues with using more tendrils.
First, wrapping more tendrils around his leg would make it bulkier. That would make it difficult for Blaze to move.
Second, it was unlikely the Headless would fall again for the same trick.
The Headless charged again, but this time at Blaze. The latter saw it coming and pulled the most unexpected move.
He side-stepped.
The Headless charged right past Blaze, but he wasn't done. As it went past, Blaze swung a tendril around its stump of a neck and jumped on its back.
Once stable on its back, he wrapped another tendril around the neck, using them as reins to control the Headless's movement.
Since you love acting like a bull, you'd love this too, right?
He pulled hard on one tendril, forcing the Headless to move further away from David. It gave his horde the time to kill David without worrying about his mother.
All was going well when things took a turn. The Headless yanked the tendrils forward and backhanded Blaze. Now, it was his turn to go flying.
Shit!
Blaze quickly wrapped the tendrils around him to absorb the shock. He hit the ground, spinning several times before coming to a stop.
His tendrils took the brunt of the attack, getting torn into bits in the process. However, that wasn't all.
Blaze's figure visibly shrank.
He had abused the tendrils too much, losing a lot of body mass.
The once form-fitting suit now hung loosely over his shoulders. It had a negative effect on his physical stats.
Corpse. I need a corpse.
Thanks to Neha, there was no shortage of corpses.
He shot a tendril towards the nearest one to consume it. However, it didn't even reach the corpse as the Headless stomped on the tendril, destroying it.
Blaze looked up, only to see the Headless's colossal feet hovering over his face, blocking the light.
Are you for real?
Before the latter brought down its leg, Blaze rolled forward, popping his claws out. Sliding under its hulking frame, he dug his claws into its ankles, ripping away the Achilles tendons.
The Headless couldn't even react as its legs gave away. The legs buckled instantly under its own monstrous weight as it crashed where it stood.
Blaze turned sideways at the last moment, protecting himself from getting crushed under the Headless's weight.
Meanwhile, the zombie tried its best to get up. An impossible feat without the tendons. It could only thrash around, eating dirt while at it.
Not gonna lie, you had me worried there for a moment.
Blaze thought, climbing onto the creature's back once again. He sat cross-legged there, rubbing his hands together as a tendril buried itself into the Headless torso.
Bon appétit.
"ROARRR!"
The Headless roared, trying to grab Blaze as it felt its blood and flesh leave its body. Yet, all its efforts were in vain.
Within seconds, its body began to sag. The vertical mouth let out a muffled hiss as it didn't even have the strength to roar anymore. It kept fighting back… until the moment Blaze's tendrils tore it apart, from the inside out.
Its rotten blood spilled all over, along with what remained of its muscles and organs. Just to make sure it was dead, Blaze ripped it to shreds with his claws.
This time, the Headless died.
Its scattered remains were proof of it.
Seeing this masterpiece, I could be related to Picasso too.
