Chapter 341: Book 12: Part 22 – Ace Awakens
Hearing that, the faces of Killian and the others all became increasingly dignified. They wanted to help, but there was nothing they could do. Or at least that was true for most of them.
Surprisingly, the person to step forward with an idea was none other than Faye.
As previously mentioned, after passing Gitara's test and becoming the disciple of the Redbud Sovereign, she was gifted an amethyst soul stone. It was that which allowed her to manipulate the direction of gravity with such freedom.
Still, that was only part of its ability – it also increased the power of her soul tenfold.
Faye suggested that, since the thing Ace was struggling with most was the strain on his soul, if she gave her soul stone to Ace to fuse, it would make his chances even higher.
But before anyone else could speak, Reisgem, her fiancé, told her it was impossible. First off, she hadn't simply bound the Amethyst Soul Stone like an ordinary treasure; his mother had helped her genuinely fuse with it – if she unfused it, it would cause irreparable damage to her soul.
Secondly, even if she did it, no one would be able to help Ace's soul fuse with his mother's Soul Stone but his mother. And finally, there was no guarantee that Ace would survive even with the soul stone.
Seeing the look in his fiancé's eyes, Reisgem sighed and said she couldn't use the one she received from his mother, but they could use his.
As an Amethyst God Beast, he, of course, had an Amethyst Soul Stone of his own, and although it wasn't quite as powerful as the one his mother gave Faye, because it was his, not only could he remove it without damaging his own soul too badly, he could control it to fuse with the soul of another person.
Although it would mean he would lose his ability to control the flow and direction of gravity, it wasn't permanent. He could grow another one in 100,000 years or after becoming a paragon.
Having made his decision, Reisgem didn't wait for Amira's response; he just calmly proceeded with the procedure.
Still, Faye's appreciation couldn't be put in simple words. She knew what her fiancé was giving up. His actions made her love him even more than before, and it wasn't just her; if before Reisgem was merely considered a friend at most to the others, now he was genuinely accepted into their little family.
When it was done, everyone noticed that Ace's condition had somewhat stabilised. Now, it was just a matter of waiting.
From that moment on, no one was even in the mood to train; they just patiently waited by Ace's side.
Fifty years later, the first change occurred. Although it wasn't with Ace, it still brought a wave of happiness to the group as Julius woke up having successfully become a two-way soul mutate.
After hearing what Ace was going through, Julius racked his brain, hoping to find a way to help Ace through his ordeal.
It was then, as he locked eyes with Leona, that he was struck by an idea.
Over the next couple of years, he began meditating on the [Constellation Battle Tactics] again, slowly changing it for his purpose.
Two years later, he awoke from his meditation, laughing like a madman, saying he had done it, and at the same time, the natural laws descended, signifying that he had just become a paragon in the Edict of Fate.
Julius explained that his comprehension of the art of formations was intrinsically tied to his comprehension of the Edict of Fate; his comprehension of this new formation had actually allowed him to become a paragon.
He then explained that the changes to their battle formation allowed them to once again link their souls, but this time, it wasn't to increase the divine power of one person but their spiritual power.
They would've done it through Amira's soul – as she was his soulmate, she obviously had the strongest bond with Ace – but she was still in too fragile a state to try something like that; as such, they had to do it through Leona's.
As they did it, there was an almost immediate effect, as Ace's condition stabilised further.
Unfortunately, even though Julius was a paragon, he wasn't the focal point of the formation this time. Leona had a powerful soul for High Gods, but she couldn't keep the formation up indefinitely.
She was forced to take breaks every few months, but as soon as she recovered, she continued the operation.
That pattern continued tirelessly for another 100 years. There were only 50 years left of the Planar War, but that had little to do with Leona and their group. They were solely focused on trying to help Ace as best they could.
If other deities approached, they were quickly chased off, be they friend or foe. They weren't willing to take any chances.
Finally, though, after 150 years, Ace managed to complete the process smoothly. His Golden Sun Manifestation was smoothly transferred from his soul into his Divine spark.
Unfortunately, unlike what they had expected, no big change took place. The crack in his divine spark was still present, and Ace was still very much unconscious.
Because this was unprecedented, they had no idea what would happen next.
Just as they were discussing what to do next, the change they waited for finally happened.
Ace's soul self suddenly appeared, haughty as ever; it suddenly opened its eyes, locking onto the Divine Spark in Ace's body, causing it to emerge from Ace's body.
That was when it happened, something that every being in the universe would remember for the rest of their lives.
The most beautiful sound anyone had ever heard began to ring as though the heavens themselves were celebrating a joyous occasion.
At the same time, Ace's physical body, his soul self, and his divine spark suddenly floated up as the natural laws suddenly descended around him like never before.
Golden flames suddenly enveloped his body as though wrapping him in some sort of cocoon.
Because this was a first, everyone, be they sovereign or deity, stared at the flames surrounding Ace, patiently waiting to see what happened next.
Subconsciously, they felt this had to be a good thing, but because they didn't know for sure, Killian and the others stared at the flames with bated breaths.
It was only when they heard Amira's all-too-familiar voice that they were able to calm their nerves.
Amira, who, by the end, was too weak to even stand on her own, was now standing by herself, looking up at her husband with tears of joy streaming down her face. All she said was "show-off", but that was enough to tell everyone everything they needed.
As though to confirm Amira's words, the golden flames covering his body dissipated as Ace's now naked figure was visible to everyone present.
Ace had always had an amazing physique – it was almost impossible not to after having followed the path of a warrior – but still, his physique from before couldn't even be mentioned in the same breath.
Looking at it, the only word that came to mind was "perfection." Still, his friends didn't care about that; all they cared about was that he was alive and well.
He barely had the time to morph his divine power into clothing before he was dove on by his friends and family, who were completely unable to contain their excitement.
At the same time, one by one, all the various Sovereigns spread throughout the universe and appeared in the chaotic space surrounding the Planar Battlefield, following the source of the sudden disturbance that caught them all by surprise.
Realising he likely wouldn't be able to have a monopoly on Ace and his secrets, Phueus pointed at Ace and explained that the disturbance they all felt originated from the little deity in the Planar Battlefield.
The Chief Sovereign of Death was shocked to find Kannal, Osiris, and Mathias there, but focusing on Ace, she couldn't help but gasp in shock when she noticed that the person Phueus was referring to was nothing but a mere Demi-God.
That's right, after his "breakthrough," Ace had been demoted to a Demi-God.
Orloff, with an intrigued light flickering in his eyes, explained that they all heard the chimes and could feel the energy that seemed to be seeping into the atmosphere throughout their universe.
The Chief Sovereign of Life, a woman named Wawaya, nodded and added that this new energy almost felt like the energy of a completely new law.
Orloff nodded and said that it most likely was a new law of some kind, and the progenitor of said law was none other than the Demi-God Phueus mentioned.
Ignoring Augusta's angry glare, Phueus went on to explain about Ace's bloodlines and how this new law was formed.
Blue Fire and his group could sense the covetous gazes of their fellow Sovereigns. They knew things were spiralling out of control; as much as they wanted to protect Ace, there wasn't much they could do. They were at the bottom of the barrel as far as Sovereigns went. Thankfully, that wasn't the case for Augusta.
Augusta coldly snorted before summoning his Overgod Sword. His eyes scanned the crowd, pausing slightly on the four Chief Sovereigns before he fearlessly announced that Ace and Amira were his adoptive grandchildren; anyone who dared to act against them would face his sword, regardless of who it was.
