Chapter 16: The hunt had begun.
Elsewhere…
In a dark council room guarded by red banners and silence, Lin Chaoyuan smiled, pouring wine for his "guest."
"You came… Yin Guan.
Leader of the great Tiyang Sect.
It's an honor."
The room was tense-Tiyang's strongest warriors were seated around the table. Suspicious. Armed.
But they were too late to notice.
Click.
The door behind them locked.
And then
Hell broke loose.
From behind the curtains, beneath the tables, through the ceiling beams and window frames—fifty, sixty assassins leapt out, their blades soaked in poison.
Screams echoed.
Tiyang warriors fell like flies.
Yin Guan stood, roaring with rage, drawing his blade-but was stabbed five times before he could even swing.
Within minutes, the entire hall was drowned in blood.
Lin Chaoyuan stepped over the bodies, sipping his wine.
"Fools.
Never trust a man who smiles too much."
---
Several Months Later…
The kingdom groaned under Lin Chaoyuan's control.
Tiyang Sect was now his.
The royal banners replaced. His word-law.
But he was not done.
"Send them all," he ordere
One hundred elite warriors.
I want Mo Yan and Yu Sui alive.
They carry power I must control."
A black flag rose from his palace.
Across the forests, mountains, and ruins-
The hunt had begun.
--
Two Months Ago…
The sky was gray.
The winds carried only ash and silence.
But two figures still walked the road, step by step, toward the unknown.
Mo Yan and Yu Sui, dressed in worn cloaks, swords wrapped in cloth, eyes wary yet unyielding.
"Do you think… everything's already lost?" Mo Yan asked quietly, his voice barely above the rustling trees.
Yu Sui didn't answer immediately.
His hand reached to pull his cloak tighter.
"I don't know."
"But even if only a fraction of it can be saved… we have to try."
