GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2022: Family Introductions.

None of them could believe what their ancestor had said. They had heard of Legion and knew he was impressive. But they also knew that Legion wasn't a Supreme Origin god an origin cycle ago.

So they were shocked to hear that their strong and impressive ancestor was at Legion's mercy in such a short amount of time and might not even be able to resurrect. Their whole worldview threatened to be upended.

Especially Guntu. He can still remember that little talented kid that became the child of the Virut plane. He was surprised when it was revealed that the kid was an origin god named Legion, and a very powerful one at that.

He didn't expect the day would come when that kid would put their ancestor in a desperate situation. He didn't expect it at all, much less so soon. But the ancestor was serious.

Ghastorix spoke calmly, but his message was urgent. "Quickly. Leave when you still can. My time is almost up."

Then his form began to twist and stretch. Something was bending and twisting it from within. The sight was scary.

Ghastorix was trying to cancel his avatar, but Legion-3 was not having it. Legion-3 was serious about meeting Ghastorix's family because they are technically his family too.

It should have been easy for Ghastorix to cancel his avatar. All he needed was a thought. But he did it too late.

He had waited until the last moment of his consciousness. Legion-3 had used his aspect of knowledge to comprehend too much of his existence, and he had infected more than 90% of Ghastorix's existence, so he can now control part of his existence now, including his avatar.

Ghastorix said one last thing to them, "Gooooooooo! Go and never look back."

His voice was so quiet that they almost didn't hear what he said. It was shocking to them. They didn't know that their ancestor's voice could be so quiet.

They were so shocked that they didn't move. Ghastorix had to use the last of his power to throw them far away from himself.

His descendants, who didn't want to leave their ancestor in his time of need, were overcome by fear and chose to flee.

But then their ancestor's twisting form restabilized. His voice returned to its normal volume. He was loud as he called to them, "Come back. I was only joking."

They looked back and saw that their ancestor looked the same. He was still a black statue with black spikes for hair. He still had his three tails, and his eyes glowed with the same light of power.

For all intents and purposes, he looked exactly like their ancestor. But this only made them feel a chill down their backs. They were not fooled at all.

First of all, their ancestor doesn't joke. He has fun by fighting, not making silly jokes. Only aberrations in the family like Guntu make jokes. So his earlier warnings couldn't be fake.

Secondly, they would rather believe that their senses were being fooled by a world god than to believe that this was their ancestor. After all, whoever could defeat their ancestor should be capable of fooling them with a fake.

So they continued to run. Unfortunately, that wasn't going to save them. The only thing that was going to save them was if they didn't have a Supreme law. Only their weakness was going to save them.

Ordinary origin gods like Guntu were allowed to escape while Supreme origin gods were captured and generously assisted in becoming world gods.

The resources they needed and had been waiting for all their lives were given to them generously. Then their knowledge was used to track down more Supreme Origin gods.

The same thing happened to the descendants of the serpentine world god and the first sage. He took their promising descendants and helped them to become world gods.

Then he used the knowledge he acquired from them to find and hunt other Supreme Origin gods. It was like a net of death spreading from one person to another.

Legion had become a disease in the void universe. Not only were they growing in power and size. They were gaining more knowledge with each addition too.

They used this knowledge and their aspect of probability to narrow down the location of more prey. So the rate at which they expanded was increasing exponentially.

What's more, disgruntled descendants of world gods like Guntu would go everywhere looking for powerful allies to help him fight against Legion. This was especially the case with the first sage descendants.

The Origin gods he allowed to escape would contact the descendants of the first sage and other sages that were world gods so that they could free the first sage. Read exclusive chapters at My Virtual Library Empire

Their plan would fail, obviously. But Legion's plan would succeed, and he would gain more prey without having to look for them himself.

Between the prey they acquired through hunting and the prey that came up to them to discuss the release of their friends and family, Legion was gaining a reputation quickly and gaining recognition in the void universe.

This recognition didn't help them, though. Instead, it made world gods and Supreme Origin gods run away from them.

Any area where they were sighted would become deserted soon after. Their popularity was making it difficult for them to hunt.

But the same was not happening with the progress of Legion-0's mission. He was making unimpeded progress as more and more world gods were tempted by the allure of power and convinced to let a universal artifact join with their world heart.

The main reason why the clones of Legion-0 became popular quickly was because the promises they made came to pass without any side effects. It appeared to be sweet all the way through instead of being a sugar-coated poison.

But with popularity came enmity. Some world gods didn't want to join the network. They wanted to take control of it themselves. They didn't want to be beneficiaries. They wanted to be the owners
