Greek Myth: Zeus Wants Me to Be His/Her (XXXX)?????

Chapter 44: Chapter 44: I Don’t Want to Join

In theory, the great flood and earthquakes that destroyed the Silver Age should have wiped out all other species as well, cleansing the world in one go.

But those other races weren't ordinary. Some were descendants of divine beings and magical creatures. Others had been personally shaped by Gaia herself.

Long before the floodwaters arrived, they'd hidden away, burrowed deep into the earth or taken shelter under the protection of other gods.

Only the silver-age humans, with no desire, no faith, and as lifeless as stone or wood, were completely eradicated.

When Eros entered the seaside city-state, his distinctly human appearance—plain, unembellished, and unmistakable—instantly drew countless eyes.

From all around, various non-human races turned their attention toward him.

Hebe and Amphitrite weren't fond of such bustling scenes, so they opted to rest elsewhere, leaving Eros to explore alone.

Eros took in the scenery as he scanned the city.

It might sound dramatic, but what he saw here genuinely challenged a few of his assumptions.

After all, until now, his interactions had mostly been with high-ranking deities or their divine offspring.

This place, however, more grounded than the lofty Abyssal Capital, offered him a different perspective.

For example: Not every woman in this world is good-looking.

He swept his gaze across the crowd. Very few faces caught his interest, and even then, it was mainly due to racial features.

Having spent so much time mingling with the sea goddesses, Eros couldn't even remember half their names.

But they were all daughters of Oceanus, true goddesses, some of them even with divine offices and domains.

Of course they were all radiant, charming, and breathtakingly elegant.

Yet the moment you dropped below a certain "market tier," the quality dropped sharply as well.

…Or maybe Eros was just too picky.

What now? That spark of curiosity he'd felt earlier fizzled halfway out.

Still, his mood bounced back almost immediately.

No big deal. If the local options are lackluster, I can always hunt for high-end substitutes. This is Greece, we're not short on monster girls.

Thinking this, Eros relaxed again.

He hadn't come all this way for some party anyway, he had more important business to attend to.

Pulling his focus away from the exotic humanoid species wandering the streets, he urged his sea beast forward, heading toward the city's central square.

The river god Acheron had built a vast, open plaza at the city's heart, perhaps to symbolize his generous spirit and his desire to revel alongside his people.

…But whether he really felt that way was debatable.

"Wait! You can't just waltz in here!"

At the square's entrance, a group of sirens spread their wings, blocking Eros's path.

The word Siren usually makes people picture beautiful mermaids, but in truth, they were closer to half-bird, half-human creatures, more like harpies, only more alluring in posture and voice.

They only occasionally took on mermaid forms, usually to seduce members of other races.

Eros, however, had already tasted the Siren experience back in the Abyssal Capital.

His verdict? Not recommended for the average person—their natural aggression and razor-sharp claws could do real damage.

Unless, of course, you were someone with Eros-level magnetic field energy.

"I've got an invitation."

Eros held out the invitation he'd received earlier, though the two sirens eyeing him still looked skeptical.

"A human?"

"Looks like it. But seriously, are there even humans left anymore?"

They muttered among themselves, casting curious, greedy, and slightly malicious glances at Eros.

If the invitation hadn't come directly from their goddess, they probably would've already dragged him back to their nest.

"Our goddess invited a human? That's… odd."

"So where do we put him?"

"Probably just a plaything for the goddess. Let's place him near her spot."

After a quick exchange, the sirens returned the invitation and stepped aside.

"You may enter. The seat at the lowest position beside the goddess."

Lowest position? What does that even mean? I don't even know what your goddess looks like.

Eros couldn't be bothered to argue. He was here to look around anyway, no need to get fussy.

Still, just to be safe, he subtly altered his appearance before stepping inside. No need to stand out too much.

Judging from those sirens' chat, the situation inside didn't sound especially welcoming.

As Eros walked into the plaza, the sound of laughter and revelry gradually reached his ears.

The outdoor amphitheater-style square was surrounded by spectators.

On the outermost rim were various oceanic and terrestrial races. A little closer to the center sat magical creatures and semi-divine beings.

Only a few scattered male figures could be seen, which gave Eros a faint sense of familiarity.

At the very center, on the raised dais, sat a mix of minor and lesser-known deities, gods with little fame or prestige.

And among them stood the most eye-catching presence of all: a towering siren with both fish tail and winged features.

If Eros wasn't mistaken, she was the one who'd invited him—the river god Acheron, father of all sea sirens.

"Hey! You're banned from this Silver Party!"

At that moment, Acheron pointed dramatically at a goddess in the audience who was wrapped around a satyr.

"To think you got so carried away with a satyr in public… What a disgrace!"

Laughter erupted across the plaza, with more gods chiming in gleefully.

"Yeah, yeah! If you can't handle him, hand that lamb over to me!"

"Let me show you how it's done—I just carved a new toy from an oak branch!"

The goddess being mocked turned beet red and stammered out something about not having ascended yet, or just teasing the satyr for fun…

Joyful, chaotic laughter rippled across the square.

Eros's face twitched slightly.

What kind of depraved nonsense is this? No wonder it's Greece.

This gathering made the parties in the Abyssal Capital look downright tame. And here he thought he'd already adapted to Greek customs.

Back at those ocean banquets, even the wild bits had a classy salon vibe to them.

Things only got spicy after everyone was relaxed and in the mood.

But this? These people were spewing vulgarity from the get-go and getting handsy while doing it. It was honestly hard to watch.

An open-air mega party?

Eros still couldn't quite vibe with this kind of atmosphere. He tried to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible.

Partly because he didn't swing that way, and partly because no one here really caught his eye enough to fire up his "cosmic engine," so to speak.

Quality-wise, this place still lagged behind the Abyssal Capital.

For a moment, Eros even found himself missing the soft, hydrated sea goddesses of old.
