Chapter 29: Stay calm
"Great, that gives us two Emperors on our side now!" rejoiced Manboshi. "With them, no one will dare to come and capture us to sell us into slavery!"
"And maybe they can help us fulfill mom's dream, living in peace with humans on the surface," added Ryuboshi.
Fukaboshi, more measured, tempered their excitement. "It's an incredible opportunity, but let's not forget that Gojo is still a pirate. We must proceed with caution."
Jinbe, who was present, spoke up. "I know Gojo well. He is a man of honor, who doesn't hesitate to fight for his convictions. Having an ally of his caliber is an unexpected chance."
---------------------------------
After celebrating his new position as Emperor with his crew, Gojo set sail towards Amazon Lily as planned to visit Boa Hancock. Upon his arrival, they were welcomed by a joyful Hancock, delighted and flattered that Gojo had visited her immediately after becoming an Emperor.
Gojo spent a few pleasant days on the island, enjoying the hospitality of the Kuja and teasing Hancock and her sisters. He greatly appreciated the beautiful woman Hancock had become, but he didn't want to start a relationship beyond what they currently had.
Hancock pretended not to know, but deep down, she had long understood that Gojo was not ready for any kind of relationship at the moment. This didn't stop her from cherishing every moment spent with him and showering him with attention. She remained convinced that with patience and determination, she would eventually melt the heart of the handsome captain with blue eyes.
After these well-deserved days of rest, Gojo and his crew set sail again, ready to continue their adventures in the New World. Over the following months, the Infinite Pirates worked on building their territory and establishing their dominance over the seas.
Each member of the crew was entrusted with managing an island according to their skills and aspirations. Apart from the three curses, Yuta, Toji, and Sukuna, who had decided to travel alone after Gojo announced a break of a few months, the shamans were the only ones to stay on their respective islands to ensure their management.
Yuta, the first crew member, traveled with the sole purpose of gaining more experience and visiting those he knew, as well as revisiting places he had been during his adventures with the crew.
Toji often played the role of a spy to pass the time. He roamed the seas to fight boredom and sometimes gathered valuable information about the World Government and the Marines. Since the sea was calm these days, he was the only one of the three curses to return to their territory, staying for weeks, or even months at a time.
As for Sukuna, the most malevolent of the three, he spent much of his time on the Hive Island and sometimes on Sabaody. For him, guided by his appetite for combat, the lawless-infested Hive Island was the perfect place to spend his time.
While the curses sailed the seas, making the crew increasingly famous, the shamans remained on their islands to ensure the smooth running of the Infinite Pirates' territory.
Yuki, the Executioner, ruled with an iron hand over the administration, making sure that the laws set by Gojo were respected. But she was also an excellent negotiator, able to secure advantageous trade agreements with kingdoms seeking Gojo's protection.
Choso was entrusted with managing Leo Island and its food resources. Most of the chefs resided on his island. He did little most of the time, spending much more time with his brothers.
Yaga, the crew's carpenter, spent most of his time on his island building ships, which required him to recruit many carpenters. When he had free time, he often visited Water Seven.
Mei Mei, in charge of the crew's finances, typically handled exchanges between different kingdoms. Her love for money drove her to frantically seek gold every chance she got.
Shoko, one of the world's best doctors, spent all her time in her state-of-the-art laboratory, only coming out when Gojo needed her. She developed numerous antidotes, remedies, and drugs that she used to treat the population, and thanks to the plants cultivated by Hanami, her medical research flourished.
Hanami, the botanist, thrived in her role as protector of natural spaces. In love with nature in all its forms, she created vast reserves to preserve the unique fauna and flora of the islands.
Nanami, not having much to do, and hating overtime, made sure to finish his work on time to rest.
Utahime, considered Gojo's assistant by many, despite hating the position due to her captain's lecherous behavior, was the busiest of the nine shamans.
Finally, Naobito, the only Shaman in charge of training the youngest pirates. The real reason he accepted was to be able to train his granddaughter Maki, who also wanted to become a pirate and perhaps could change from the last island.
And so time passed. Under Gojo's leadership and his formidable team, the Infinite Pirates consolidated their position in the hierarchy of the New World. Their growing power and unpredictability made the World Government see them as an increasing threat to the established order.
