Chapter 181: The Dynamic Trio.
Kyle had to speak with Nakamura and he knew that Kyle would need an explanation regarding what happened.
Nakamura gave Yuki a nod to instruct her to provide them with some nonverbal room.
"I know you have questions," Nakamura said, lowering his mask and tossing it away.
"I do and I know you have the answers I'm looking for," Kyle responded sternly, looking him right in the eyes as he tossed his mask too.
"You were a distraction, I knew a new face would have them rattled but I didn't expect you to be accepted into the ranks of those arrogant pricks so whatever you did with Eleanor must have worked out in your favour," Nakamura informed him but Kyle wasn't having it.
"What do you mean, accepted? Why did you need a distraction in the first place," Kyle pressed on, leaning on the hood of his car.
"You are not the first person I have brought here but for some reason, they all fall to Eleanor's charm. You're the first to resist it and this allowed me to know the kind of man you are," Nakamura said, pausing as he put his cigarette between his lips before lighting it and continuing the conversation.
"I didn't expect that man to personally meet though, that was a welcomed surprise but I needed you to keep them busy because I couldn't be seen dealing with her," Nakamura was transparent but Kyle realized halfway through that he didn't care about any of this.
He didn't want to know what they discussed or why he did what he did but this was a good chance to give a false show of trust.
"You know what? You don't need to tell me any more but don't leave me in the dark next time or that will be the end of our partnership, is that understood?" Kyle was stern.
Nakamura treated him like he was inferior and Kyle was going to bring an end to that.
"Understood, it won't happen again but aren't you curious who the lady is? She seemed smitten with you," Nakamura tried to install a thought into his head but Kyle wasn't having any of it.
"Is that so?" Kyle said under his breath but the irritation in her voice was evident and this made Nakamura chuckle.
"It has been fun Mr Nakamura but I must bid you farewell," Kyle said, it was a little after 1 AM but Kyle trusted his driving skills to make it home in one piece.
He hated that things were getting complicated but Eleanor would be his key to get into the pearly gates of the rich.
He knew her name so he could run his research on her but Kyle couldn't believe how stuck up they were.
He was glad that the night was over nonetheless and he could return home to Jane.
-
Jane welcomed Ella and they had the time of their life. Jane spoke to her about her relationship with Kyle and also how he told her he was in love with her.
Ella couldn't believe he said this, most men were hesitant to use these words because they knew it was a point of no return.
But Jane was curious what Ella had been up to and Ella was hesitant to tell her about the new friend she made because she had no idea how Jane would react to such news.
She informed Jane she had met someone but never disclosed anything else.
More so, the fact that this new friend of hers was an actress but this was the night she chose to let it all out.
"Jane, there is something I need to tell you," Ella began and the moment these words left her lips, Jane's attention peaked.
"What is it, Ella? Are you alright?" Jane was immediately concerned and this made Ella second guess if she should tell her or not.
"I made a new friend!" Ella exclaimed.
"I know, you told me," Jane responded; this couldn't be it.
"I have been spending the last couple of days at her place," Ella said and this was when Jane's body language subtly changed.
"You spent a couple of days at her place?" Jane questioned and Ella nodded.
"She is rich but that is not the best part, she is also an actress!" Ella boasted.
The truth of the matter was, that Ella wanted Jane to know she was alright if she decided to give Kyle all her time.
She wanted her to know she wasn't alone and this was why she exaggerated her excitement.
"A rich actress? Wow! That is great!" Jane was getting jealous but she couldn't let it consume her.
Ella has been her best friend since forever and the thought of someone else taking her away didn't sit right with her.
"I know right? You wouldn't believe how we met," Ella tossed that question into the air.
"Tell me! Tell me!" Jane barked, a forced smile plastered across her face but this was all an act..
"It was at the nightclub, I went there the next day and ran into…" Ella proceeded to give her all the details she would otherwise need.
The more she spoke, the tighter Jane's chest got because she knew what this meant.
There was no way that she could compare to someone so amazing.
"Say Ella, what is this person's name?" Jane's curiosity got the best of her.
"Her name is C-!" Before Ella could spill that vital piece of information, Kyle walked in.
But unlike Jane who knew, Ella could still remember the trauma that came with that night.
The night Ella was beaten by Mike, that night still replayed in her head and Jane had to lay her hand on her friend's shoulder to tell her everything was going to be okay.
"It is fine, it is just Kyle," Jane said and she was right because Kyle walked in soon after. Read exclusive adventures at empire
Ella was relaxed but this had brought a break in the conversation as the conversation they were having came to an abrupt end.
Kyle looked exhausted but he returned with the mask in hand when he could have easily dismissed it but knew it was something that could come in handy in the future.
"Well, hello ladies," Kyle greeted both of them, he had no problem with Ella's presence.
If anything, he welcomed it because he would rather have her keep Jane company either way when he wasn't around.
"Where did you go all dressed up?" Ella questioned but before Kyle could respond, Jane threw her arms around him and planted a kiss on his lips.
"Welcome home!" The excitement in her voice didn't lie and Kyle couldn't help but smile.
"Get a room, you two!" Ella barked but this only made Kyle stick his tongue down her throat.
She was in his house, the last thing she could do was start making demands.
Ella rolled her eyes in disgust before turning away but this was the reaction he was looking for.
"How was it?" Jane was quick to ask the moment Kyle's lips separated from hers.
"It was exhausting, rich people are a pain in the ass, I tell you that," Kyle said to her.
"You don't have to tell me twice," Ella responded, taking a dig at Kyle.
"That was a good one," Kyle praised but barely managed to contain his laughter.
"What were you ladies gossiping about before I walked in?" Kyle asked but both of the ladies kept quiet.
"It is girls' talk," Jane said before pushing him to the room.
"She's more comfortable now," Kyle thought to himself but that was to be expected considering they were living together.
The barrier that existed before was no longer there, this meant that she got to fully assimilate Kyle into her daily routine and vice-versa.
-
Calista had a relatively quiet day except for her time on the set. The movie was entering its final week but she found herself questioning a lot of things at this point in time.
What if the movies didn't do well? What would she do with her life then?
That was a recurring thought in her head but it wasn't like worrying about it would change anything.
She didn't know if this movie would do well or how it would be received by the public.
What if this was her only chance to make a name for herself and she failed?
Calista laughed at how her thoughts were grasping at a reality that wasn't in existence… yet.
She checked her phone and proceeded to scroll through social media, the mentions and tags she was getting previously had reduced drastically.
This was a humbling moment, she felt like she was at the center of the universe for a few days but the spotlight had shifted to the next big thing.
Calista was anxious but while scrolling through her messages, she remembered the person that had messaged her asking about Kyle.
She responded a few days ago and was yet to receive a response which made her question the urgency of the message.
It didn't bother her either way but before she could put the phone down and call it a day.
She got a new notification request, it was the same username but with different numerals this time.
She inspected the other account and realized that the account was no longer in existence.
"This feels fishy… I don't like it one bit," Calista muttered under her breath. She had her orders from Kyle.
She was going to do whatever it took to get this strange person's identity.
