Then leaned forward, her lips brushing the blood, her breath hot.

"Now I'll remember your scent in war," she said. "And if you die—I'll hunt your killer until the sky breaks."

Ryon reached up and touched her silver-bone arm.

"I'll do worse if anyone touches you without your permission."
