Chapter 10: His Precious Possessions

"Now let's see… mmm?" Harry stopped for a moment to look at the young auror he was keeping under the curse.

She was still visibly struggling. Harry saw her face contorting in pain as she fought back.

"You are a fierce girl, I'll give you that. But you better stop already. I have seen people melt their brains because they fought too hard against a mental attack."

His words had an immediate effect, as she stopped struggling so much.

Harry nodded. "Good girl. Don't worry so much. I won't kill you for as long as you behave properly and don't do anything stupid."

He always had a weak spot for beautiful girls...something that got him killed in his previous life, but that was a problem for another time.

Harry turned his attention to his stash of valuables.

The first thing he picked up was his old wand, which was still laying on the ground where it had landed after his death.

Despite having been abandoned for so long, it still maintained a pristine luster.

The moment he held it again in his hands, Harry felt like he had recovered a piece of himself.

He had personally created this particular wand using the heartstrings from an ancient black dragon that he had killed himself during his younger years. The wood came from a two-thousand-year-old oak that had been worshiped by a Celtic tribe of druids for many generations. The rituals performed next to the tree had imbued its wood with special properties.

Due to being not just its owner but also its creator, his connection with this wand was especially strong.

Harry stored the wand in his sleeve and moved to grab something else.

It was a four-foot-long staff, made of Blackthorn wood and embedded with a large emerald crystal on top.

This one was created by an old acquaintance of his, a master crafter from Spain.

The connection that he shared with this piece was not as powerful, but the staff had its uses.

Some pieces of magic were too intense for a wand to handle and required a more resilient focus. For occasions like that, he liked to have this at hand.

Harry then took a leather bag that was hanging from the wall. This was his travel-enchanted bag and could hold the equivalent of ten cubic meters worth of things inside, without increasing the weight of the bag itself.

He put the bag over his shoulder and stored the staff inside, before moving to grab a few more things from the shelves.

A magical broom that he had made himself. It was not his best creation, but he had some emotional attachment to that piece.

"Ohh… still looking great." Harry looked over at the robes hanging from the wall.

He made more than just a wand from the dragon he killed. Otherwise, it would have been such a waste.

Two sets of magically reinforced black dragon robes, to be exact.

One of them he was wearing the day he died. Unfortunately, that one was no longer usable, as it was filled with holes.

If it wasn't for that robe, he would have died so much earlier though.

The one hanging from the wall was completely immaculate, as he had never worn it before.

"Mmm… let's see, what else should I take?" He looked back at the young auror for a moment.

The girl was really fierce. She looked exhausted after fighting his curse for this long, but still holding up.

"Oh… that's right! I just remembered something!" he said with excitement.

There was an inconspicuous wooden chest in the corner of the room. He went there and unlocked it.

"I had almost forgotten I made this…" He pulled a black collar from the chest.

It was made of leather and had runes engraved all over its surface.

Once it was placed around someone's neck and activated, it would have a similar effect to the 'Imperio' curse, placing the victim under a trance where they would obey all his orders.

However, this was much better for keeping someone in a permanent state of unwavering loyalty toward him. The Imperio curse had to be renewed once in a while, but this was a much preferable alternative to use on those he intended to keep for a long period of time.

They were also impossible to remove by anyone except for himself, and they had a powerful 'Notice-Me-Not' enchantment included, as to not draw attention to it.

"It's been so long since I used this." He created these collars during his younger days. "Mmm… there are only three left. Oh well, it's better than nothing. And they may come in handy."

He then stored them inside the bag.

Now that he no longer had his army of followers, he may have to use these collars to get a few loyal individuals to assist him. He had no delusions about being able to accomplish everything by himself.

The dementors had their uses, but now he was going to need something more… human.

"Okay. I think that is enough for now." There were still a few trinkets left in the treasury, but there was no need to take them now.

After all, he was not planning on abandoning his fortress.

One day, when he was ready, he would return here and retrieve what was rightfully his.

"We are done here." Harry walked out of the room and sealed the entrance. "You…" He grabbed Tonks' arm, pulling her closer. "It is time for you to help me leave this place. Do a good job and I will not take your life."

He was still going to take her memories, though. There was no chance he would let her remember this.

It was still too early for him to become a public enemy of the Ministry of Magic.

He needed more information than what he had right now. The original owner of this body knew little of the magical world, and things have changed a lot in the last five hundred years.

'I will take my time. There is no hurry... I now have a new young body.' He had just got a second chance in life, and he was not going to waste it.
