Harry Potter: The Hogwarts Acceptance Letter

Chapter 14: Chapter 14 The Opening Feast

Light wasn't pleased by the news from the stone stele. Instead, because he didn't know much about the Sorting Hat, he was in a somewhat gloomy mood.

Just as Light walked towards the Gryffindor table, full of doubts, he suddenly heard someone shouting, "Over here, come quickly, there's a seat here, Light."

Looking up, he saw the red-haired twins were waving desperately, as if they were afraid Light wouldn't see them.

Seeing this, Light put aside his doubts and walked quickly towards George and Fred.

When Light just got closer, the twins suddenly asked, "Which of us is George?"

"You're George," Light replied as he sat down, answering George who asked the question.

"Wrong, I'm Fred, he's George." George, who asked the question, denied it with a sly smile. Just as Fred was about to say something.

Light said seriously, "I'm not wrong. The 162nd hair next to George's left ear is sticking up, while Fred's isn't. I noticed it on the train."

Hearing Light's words, the two brothers looked at each other. George asked with a slightly shocked expression, "Really?" And Fred curiously looked towards George's left ear.

"False, I was just kidding you. I can't tell the difference, but it seems I guessed right." After saying that, Light laughed.

The two brothers looked at each other again and burst into laughter. While laughing, they said, "It looks like we're going to have a new partner." Just as the twins were thinking of recruiting Light as a companion.

Light raised his hand and waved, motioning for Ron, who was sorted into Gryffindor, to come over.

Suddenly, there was a round of applause all around. Harry Potter put on the Sorting Hat amidst the enthusiastic applause.

After a long while, a shout of "Gryffindor" excited the people around Light. All the students in the Gryffindor seating area cheered. George and Fred were even more excited, hugging each other and shouting, "Potter, we have Potter."

The Slytherins next door just clapped perfunctorily when they heard the words "Harry Potter refused to enter Slytherin" from the Sorting Hat.

The prefects sitting at the front of the table, upon hearing such provocative words from the Sorting Hat, didn't even bother pretending. They looked unhappy. They had no idea that their long-running second-place streak was about to start.

Light thought to himself silently as he witnessed this scene, "With Hagrid and Ron both brainwashing Harry Potter, there's no way he'd end up in Slytherin."

After taking off the Sorting Hat, Harry Potter walked towards the Gryffindor table. Percy Weasley, the Gryffindor prefect, managed to talk to Harry Potter before the other little lions did. Even George and Fred ran over to join in the fun.

Light glanced at Harry Potter, who was surrounded by the crowd, and didn't go over. He just sat quietly in his seat, waiting for the meal to start.

Just when Light was bored, a message that made his heart race came from the stone stele.

"Completed the mileage The Strongest Gaze'. Gain 1 Mileage Point."

Light swallowed hard, forcefully suppressing the fear within his heart, and slightly raised his head to look at Dumbledore.

He saw that Dumbledore's eyes weren't looking at Light. Instead, he was smiling as he looked at Harry Potter, who was surrounded by everyone.

Seeing this, Light felt slightly more at ease. Then he began to analyze: "The Sorting Hat shouldn't have the ability to read memories. Otherwise, those pure - blood families with numerous secrets wouldn't have sent their children to Hogwarts for a thousand years. If there were such a ticking time - bomb, it would have exploded long ago."

'Dumbledore stared at me. Perhaps it was because I stood up to Malfoy on the train. Or maybe he was looking for Harry Potter's teammates.'

'These two possibilities are the most likely. If Dumbledore had known through the Sorting Hat that I knew the future, what the stone stele showed wouldn't have been "staring" but "surprised".' Thinking of this, Light felt much more relieved.

As Professor McGonagall rolled up the parchment and left with the Sorting Hat in hand, Headmaster Albus Dumbledore stood up.

Looking at the students who had returned to their seats with a broad smile, he opened his arms to the students and said cheerfully:

"Welcome everyone to Hogwarts! A new school year begins! Before the banquet starts, I'd like to say a few things:"

"Idiots, cry - babies, dregs, twist. Thank you all."

Amid everyone's confused looks, Dumbledore announced the start of the banquet.

Countless delicious foods appeared on the long tables. Since traveling here, Light had never seen so much delicious food. In an instant, like someone who hadn't eaten for days, he started to feast.

George and Fred looked at Light and Ron, who were like starving ghosts, and sighed at the same time: "I didn't expect there would be someone with an eating manner as bad as Ron's. It's so interesting."

When Light was patting his stuffed stomach and saying he couldn't eat any more, he saw Dumbledore wave his wand, and the food on the table vanished instantly.

Ron, with his equally stuffed stomach, was regretting not having hidden some food away.

At this moment, Dumbledore stood up slowly, drawing everyone's attention.

"Since everyone has finished eating, I'll say a few more things. I have several back - to - school announcements to make."

"New students should pay particular attention: The forest on the playground is strictly off - limits to students. I believe the senior students should also bear this in mind."

"Our caretaker, Mr. Filch, asked me to remind you that you're not allowed to use Spells in the corridors during breaks."

"The Quidditch player tryouts will be held on the school playground in the second week."

...

"Finally, I must warn you. Those who don't want to meet a horrible end shouldn't go to the third - floor corridor on the right this year!"

After finishing discussing the precautions for this semester, Dumbledore said loudly in a kind voice: "Let's sing the school song before going to bed!"

Then he waved his wand, and a long golden ribbon streamed out from the wand, forming words in the air.

Guided by Dumbledore, all the teachers and students in the school began to sing the school song: "Hogwarts, Hogwarts..."

Light sang a few lines along with the crowd, looking bored.

After singing the school song, the prefects of the four houses led their respective students back to the dormitories.

Under the leadership of the prefect, the first - year Gryffindors went to their dormitory.

Along the way, Light chatted and joked with Harry Potter and Ron.

They walked up the spiral staircase to the top floor and reached the end of the corridor.

Percy stopped in front of a portrait of a plump woman. The plump woman in the portrait came to life and demanded sternly, "Password!"

"Dragons' droppings," Percy said.

The plump woman in the portrait nodded and moved aside, revealing a round hole in the wall.

After entering the hole, Light saw a spacious common room. The red lion flag representing Gryffindor hung in mid-air. There were several long tables on the floor, and under the long tables were chairs with soft cushions. A fire was burning in the fireplace on the left wall, providing light and warmth for this common room.

Guided by the signs, Light, Harry Potter, and Ron made their way to the dormitory.

They came to the dormitory door and pushed it open.

There were five four-poster beds in the room. Their luggage was placed neatly under the beds and piled up neatly to one side.
