Chapter 252. Uproar 4
The villa was extremely beautiful, even from the front view.
Kailen could see several lawns, alongside beautiful pavements leading to different directions and very beautiful surroundings.
There were even gardens here and there having different herbs of high quality, their scents pervading the environs.
The whole place seemed extremely well-kept.
The occasional chirping of birds could be heard from the trees—casting their towering shadows on Kailen as he moved through them.
"This professor should be someone who dabbles in alchemy."
Kailen figured as much from how much the whole place reeked of high-class alchemical gardens and vegetation, hinting that the professor he was visiting was likely to be someone who at least dabbles in alchemy or has a high level of interest in it.
Very soon, he arrived at the door.
Kailen rang the doorbell.
"Coming." A voice that sounded oddly familiar to Kailen for some reason resounded in his ear from behind the door.
The door opened, only to reveal the bunny demihuman Kailen had seen earlier behind the door.
Inwardly he was surprised, inasmuch as he maintained a calm facade. "What is this snob doing here?"
Equally, the bunny demihuman was staring at him with shock. Her eyes were wide open, asking herself the same question.
"This... What is Kailen Darkhaven doing here?"
Kailen ignored the expression of shock on her face, acting like he didn't even know her, as if this was the first time he was encountering her.
"Please, I'm here to complete the mission the Professor put up several hundreds of years ago."
The moment Kailen said these words, the pieces of the puzzle started coming together.
Although she was uninformed about Kailen before their encounter, she had found out that he had taken on the mission set up by her uncle after he left the alchemy department, after the commotion he caused.
"So he returned from the Seragun plane with the Solar Achelum Herb, and made the special talent-enhancing elixir? It was that talent-enhancing elixir that has a 98 percent purity level?"
Managing to snap out of her thoughts, she gestured for Kailen to enter the house.
The atmosphere was pretty much awkward for her.
She wanted to apologize to Kailen for how she had treated him earlier—having tried earlier, only for him to tell her to fuck off.
Yet, the way Kailen was acting like he didn't even know her was a clear message that he didn't want to have anything to do with her.
It was as if he was simply telling her that she didn't even exist to him, nor could he be bothered to even entertain her presence, and that he was only here for the sake of the mission.
Getting the gist of the message behind his silent, flippant approach towards her, she remained silent, and led Kailen up the stairs.
The silence, suffocating for her yet a haven for Kailen, reigned for a while, until they stood before a particular door.
The bunny demihuman knocked on the door a few times, yet she was met with no response.
She was about to lose her patience when she felt footsteps echoing louder and louder.
The sound of the door opening was followed by a tall bunny male demihuman in some robes, slippers, and glasses, staring at them.
The moment his eyes landed on Kailen, he seemed to have known what the kid was here for.
"Another person here to crush my hopes? Please, gently leave. I've had people come here in an attempt to help my son," the man kept speaking with pain and disappointment in his eyes, "each of them having come here with elixirs or pills that have only made his situation worse. The Solar Achelum Herb is his only hope, and yet, it's in the Seragun Plane. Besides, even if one were to miraculously retrieve it, the skill needed to make it is simply on another level."
The young demihuman felt her cheeks turn red from embarrassment from her uncle's words. She felt like he was acting similar to how she had acted when she encountered Kailen.
Was Kailen not going to think they were a family of snobs?
"Uncle, let's give him a chance," she said.
The man sighed, but gave in to his niece.
Kailen honestly didn't care about what the man said. He just wanted to get this mission over with as soon as possible.
He just barged into the room.
A young male bunny demihuman bearing close resemblance to the professor lay on a king-sized bed in the large room, his eyes weakly fluttering open when Kailen's gaze landed on him.
Kailen, having activated the elemental mirroring, could see the damaged pathways of universe energy in his being.
However, fortunately for him, it was not to a level where he would be crippled and become a non-awakener.
Kailen didn't say a word.
He walked calmly to the individual.
The professor's gaze was very doubtful as he stared at Kailen.
It was obvious from his expression that in several hundred years, he had seen this scene over and over again.
What Kailen was about to do was nothing new to him.
There was no need for him to have any hope.
If he did, it would only be crushed, and the pain for hope deferred was something so painful that he did not want to even think about it.
As for the bunny demihuman, his son lying on the bed, he sighed deeply.
"Can you help me?" His voice was full of a hopeful expression as he stared at Kailen with pleading eyes.
Kailen's gaze flickered slightly with emotion when he saw the look in the guy's eyes.
Helplessness.
The guy looked extremely helpless and broken.
He knew it all too well.
After all, at some point, he had been in the same situation before.
Kailen didn't even know why he felt like answering him.
But he replied with a small nod and a smile. "We are about to find out. Open your mouth for me."
The fellow opened his mouth.
Then, the elixir in the flask appeared.
