Chapter 772: Chapter 772: Daniel Marshall, Are You Still Alive?

The able-bodied adults followed Simon Howard, splitting into several groups to help with the rescue.

The remaining women divided their duties, some helping to dress the wounds of the villagers, some in charge of food distribution, and the rest assembling tents.

Simon Howard came to the damaged house, shouting loudly.

Upon hearing this, Daniel Marshall started banging on something to make noise and also replied loudly: “Simon Howard, my wife and I are okay, but we can’t get out because the exit is obstructed. You all must be careful of aftershocks and landslides. Pay no mind to us. Help the villagers first.”

“Daniel, we’ve broken up into groups. Everyone is helping with the rescue. Don’t worry, we’ll get you out as soon as possible.”

“The house has collapsed. You must be careful with the debris, pay attention to safety, promise me you won’t get injured.”

“Understood, we’re discussing a rescue plan.”

Everyone, without any gloves, began moving debris barehanded after a series of aftershocks.

They slowly created a narrow path by utilizing whatever tools they could find on the scene.

As more light spewed in, Daniel could see Simon Howard and ordered fiercely, “Get my wife out first. I can hold on. Don’t worry about me!”

Simon Howard shouted back inside, “Ma’am, you slowly crawl out, don’t worry, it’s safe. You go first, we’ll rescue Daniel afterward.”

With mixed emotions, Olivia Jenkins furrowed her brows and looked at Daniel.

Given the constant aftershocks and unknown dangers in such an environment, Olivia, of course, worried about Daniel.

And certainly, Olivia cared for and had concerns for his well-being.

However, Daniel, showing no regard for himself, urged: “Honey, go on ahead while it’s safe, during this lull in the aftershocks. As long as you’re safe and sound, I’ll be at peace.”

“Daniel, you must take good care of yourself. I’ll wait for you outside.”

Daniel, to reassure Olivia, patted her shoulder and gave her a confident look that he’ll be fine.

Olivia gave Daniel a deep look and then slowly crawled out.

Just as Simon Howard was lifting Olivia up, suddenly, another aftershock shook the area.

The house immediately collapsed further, blocking the newly created exit path.

Daniel was still inside. His welfare unknown, Olivia was deeply worried and frantic. She shouted out desperately, “Daniel … Are you okay?”

“…”

Olivia waited for a while, but didn’t hear Daniel’s response.

Suddenly, Olivia’s eyes welled up in tears, which began to roll down her cheeks.

Instantly, Olivia cried out heart-wrenchingly: “Daniel, answer me! Are you still alive? How are you?”

“…”

“Daniel, respond please!”

Simon Howard also began to shout out, fearing for Daniel’s safety.

Olivia, refusing to lose hope, continued to call out: “Daniel… Daniel, you promised me! You have to be okay, you have to get out.”

“Honey, I’m fine, I’m still alive! Some debris fell and blocked my exit, so I couldn’t hear you. Now, I’ve moved some things and can see a bit of light.”

In that moment, warm tears overflowed from Olivia’s eyes, slowly streaking down her cheeks.

She blinked and worked to control her emotions before shouting back: “Daniel, wait for us, we’re going to get you out. Don’t move around, I’m worried the collapsed debris might hit you.”

“I understand, honey, I’ll be careful. I want to see you, and I can’t bear to leave you behind.”

Relieved, Olivia manifest a small smile. She no longer spoke but joined the men in moving the debris, trying to clear a narrow path.
