Chapter 776: Chapter 776: No longer hate Daniel Marshall?
Daniel Marshall, holding on to Olivia Jenkins, with his head resting against hers, reassured, “Grandpa, don’t worry. Olivia and I are doing fine. We’ll take care. We’ll come back safely.”
Olivia, looking at her own grandfather on-screen, didn’t immediately push Daniel away so as not to worry the old man. “Grandpa, everyone here is working together in unity for the earthquake relief. We have full confidence in overcoming this. Don’t worry about us, you should take care of your own health.”
Seeing that Daniel and Olivia had seemingly moved past their differences, the old man’s smile broadened. “Okay, I won’t disturb you two any longer. Your fathers and I are providing support from back in Serene City. Rest assured, Marshall Corporation is fully committed to the reconstruction of Discovery County.”
“Goodbye, Grandpa. Stay healthy!” Olivia and Daniel both said, smiling and waving at the camera.
When the camera cut off, Olivia’s smile immediately froze, and she pushed Daniel away.
Then, Olivia quickly walked away to do what she could to help.
Suddenly, she received a call from Benjamin Davis.
Benjamin, sounding quite anxious on the other end, furrowed his handsome brows in worry. “Now that I can hear your voice, I can finally feel relieved.”
Olivia replied calmly, “My team is fine, they evacuated in time. A lot of the locals heeded the TV warning and fled their homes, so there weren’t a lot of casualties. There’s a lot of damage to the houses though, which is a pity.”
Suddenly, Benjamin heard Daniel’s voice coming through the call.
Daniel was urgently calling for his wife.
Benjamin cracked a small smile, narrowed his eyes slightly. “Alright, I’ll hang up now. I wouldn’t want to interrupt you two. With him by your side, I’m certain he’ll protect you. You’ll be safe.”
Olivia only responded with a small smile and didn’t say much more.
At this moment, Daniel walked over to Olivia, who then hung up the call.
“Honey, someone over there is saying he’s having chest pain. You used to be a doctor and have experience with this. Go and check on him quickly,” Daniel said urgently, pulling Olivia and running towards the person.
Thankfully, they discovered the patient in time. Olivia performed an emergency treatment and had him immediately transferred to a hospital, saving his life.
After they were done, Olivia studied Daniel carefully.
All Daniel had done was answer a few questions from the media before rushing off with the rest of the team to clear safety hazards.
Olivia noticed that Daniel’s shoes had worn out and his pants were torn in several places. Despite this, he continued to work tirelessly without changing his clothes.
Daniel’s hand had started bleeding again, yet he merely applied a bandage and carried on helping, acting as if nothing had happened.
Olivia felt a mixture of emotions. Despite doing her best at the shelter, she found her thoughts drifting back to Daniel from time to time.
…
By dusk, it started raining heavily in Discovery County.
For safety reasons, all rescue teams retreated and rested at temporary shelters.
Olivia made a ginger drink for Daniel, handed him a pair of sports shoes, and offered him a set of clean clothes.
“Finish the ginger drink and change your clothes. Just get by with these. If your clothes and shoes are torn, it can affect the rescue work. The forecast said it would cool down in Discovery County tonight, after heavy rain. The temperature varies greatly in mountainous regions, so be sure to dress warmly.”
Daniel looked at Olivia delightedly. A small smile played upon his thin lips, his handsome face grow more charming. “Thank you, honey! I’m so happy knowing you care for me. It gives me more motivation to work!”
“To keep Grandpa from worrying, I need to keep an eye on you.”
