He Clings to Me Every Night

Chapter 778 - 778: My Greatest Gain is You

Chapter 778: Chapter 778: My Greatest Gain is You

The road collapses caused by the earthquake had been repaired, allowing the people who wanted to leave Discovery County to gradually depart.

A week later, the four artists who came as guest performers also needed to leave, as they had new schedules and had to embark on new journeys.

Olivia Jenkins gave them each a hug, showing her deep gratitude for their support during this difficult time.

Jenkins also promised them that if there was a chance to work together again, she would definitely seize the opportunity.

The filming crew was also leaving Discovery County for another small town to film the next two episodes.

Jenkins, however, didn’t go with them but stayed behind, as she couldn’t bear to leave the people of Discovery County.

Miss Winter came specially to take over the filming work of the team so that Jenkins could devote herself to philanthropy without any concerns.

Daniel Marshall didn’t leave Discovery County either, his heart remained with the people here.

The frequency of the aftershocks had diminished, and their magnitudes were much lower, which would not cause severe damage for now. Daniel and the head of the foundation had discussed post-disaster reconstruction plans with the local county leaders.

For the villagers who had lost their homes, they were also speeding up the construction of temporary transitional housing.

The aid supplies and funds from the Marshall Corporation had also gradually arrived. Both the leaders and the villagers expressed their gratitude towards Daniel and Marshall Corporation.

The Marshall Corporation’s good deeds received approval from people of all walks of life. Everyone had witnessed the good deeds Daniel had done on this trip, and he received an award from the Serene City Chamber of Commerce. Even the minor shareholders in the Marshall Corporation, who initially objected to Daniel’s trip, wisely kept their opinions to themselves.

The weather was sunny, and the night sky was full of stars once again.

For the first time since the earthquake occurred more than ten days ago, Daniel could finally take a breather. He sat with Jenkins on the grass, holding her hand and together they looked up at the star-filled sky.

“Honey, the Discovery River Bridge project has been approved and will open for bidding next Friday. I hope we can finish building the Discovery River Bridge by the end of this year, so folks on both sides won’t have to risk their lives crossing the river, putting an end to this heart-wrenching and dangerous history.”

A sincere smile spread across Jenkins’ face, “I can see that the villagers all like you very much. They call you a great benefactor. The post-disaster reconstruction plans have been publicized and they are fully supportive. I believe that good deeds are rewarded. Good people will certainly receive good outcomes.”

Daniel tightened his grip on Jenkins’ hand, “My greatest gain is that you’re still by my side. With you, I am satisfied.”

Jenkins looked at the numerous scars on Daniel’s hand. Even though they had begun to heal, they still caused her heart to ache, “Since you’ve worked so hard, I’ll forgive you this time. But if you ever upset me again, I won’t let you off easily, Daniel.”

Daniel pulled Jenkins into his embrace, and she nestled against his shoulder, “My beloved, I welcome your constant supervision. Even if you’re at the ends of the earth, I’ll always follow your footsteps.”

Jenkins’ smile grew deeper as she contently snuggled against Daniel’s chest.

“Honey, do you think I smell bad?”

Jenkins slowly looked up and locked eyes with Daniel, “If you do, it’s just manly!”

A hint of laughter flickered in Daniel’s deep eyes, and suddenly, he kissed Jenkins’ lips.

Under the starry sky, their hearts slowly drew closer again.

Early in September, Olivia Jenkins and Daniel Marshall said their official goodbyes to Discovery County.

Both the leaders and the villagers came to see them off.

Upon finding out that Daniel and Jenkins had returned safely, Bella Thompson felt a rush of disappointment.
