Heaven Slaying Blade

Chapter 102: Can I Trust You?

Chu Mo scratched his head: "Actually, I don't want to do anything. I'm content to simply cultivate in peace and live each day happily. Regrettably, these simple desires seem to be the hardest to fulfill. To achieve this goal, I must strive to clear all obstacles from my path."

"Including the prince and his ilk?" Miao Yi Niang asked softly.

"Including them," answered Chu Mo.

"I understand, I will support you!" Miao Yi Niang looked at Chu Mo: "Whatever your decision is, I will support you!"

Chu Mo smiled, "I know."

Subsequently, the four of them began their New Year's dinner. When they heard the continuous explosion of firecrackers outside, Chu Mo and Xu Fufu looked at each other and in unison said, "Fourteen!"

The two teenagers who easily stirred the winds and the waves in Yanhuang City were only fourteen years old.

Miao Yi Niang and Liu Mei'er raised their wine cups to toast the two fourteen-year-olds, congratulating them for growing another year older.

Afterwards, they all went outside to set off fireworks and firecrackers. The two women in their twenties, like young girls, laughed in extreme joy.

And like this, a year passed.

By the time Chu Mo got back home, it was already late at night, and the streets were nearly empty. In front of the Fan Residence hung two red lanterns, illuminating a swath of land.

Looking at these two red lanterns, Chu Mo warmed up inside, finally back home.

Upon seeing Chu Mo's return, the gatehouse guard said, "Young Master, after you left, another carriage came, saying they were there to escort you to the palace. Did anything happen?"

The entire Fan Residence, including the gatehouse guards, were all old soldiers who retired from the army, their vigilance far surpassing that of ordinary people.

Chu Mo shook his head while laughing, "Uncle Qin, is something wrong? Haven't had a drink tonight?"

The guard in his forties scratched his head, "Only a little. It was delivered by those young ladies you brought back. Speaking of it, having these young ladies here really changed the atmosphere. It's as though we've suddenly become a wealthy household. Heh, we even have maidservants now!"

A bitterness seized Chu Mo's heart, he laughed, "Did Uncle Qin take a fancy to any of them?"

"Not at all, don't speak nonsense! These young ladies are so young that if I had a daughter, she would probably be older than them. I just feel that our residence now feels much livelier than before!" Old Qin smiled kindly.

Hardly anyone knew that this man, with his somewhat limp walk, had once been a daring and fearless elite soldier on the battlefield.

Chu Mo clapped Old Qin on the arm, "Uncle Qin, our house will get better and better."

"Hmm, as long as we have you, it's guaranteed to get better!" Old Qin began to laugh heartily. Then, remembering something, he said, "Oh right, Young Master, about an hour ago one young lady came looking for you. I said you weren't at home, so she left."

"A young lady?" Chu Mo was slightly taken aback.

"Yes, quite beautiful, and well-mannered, she didn't seem like one from the world of martial arts, rather she seemed like a young lady from a rich family. However, I found it strange, why would a young lady sneak out of her house on the eve of the New Year?" Old Qin muttered quite perplexedly.

"What did she look like?" Asked Chu Mo.

"Well, she was rather tall, round-faced, with her hair tied up, wearing a blue outfit with a black cloak outside... it seems like... she is a martial artist," answered Old Qin.

Upon this description, Chu Mo thought of the girl he met in the Prince's Mansion, that girl from that night. He frowned slightly, thinking: Has her illness recurred?

While pondering, Chu Mo said, "If she comes again, let her see me directly."

"Alright." Old Qin revealed a knowing smile.

Chu Mo gave him an exasperated look and entered the house.

As soon as he got to his room, Chu Mo's eyebrows raised very slightly. Without any change in his expression, he opened the door. Sure enough, a young girl was sitting in the room. It was the same girl who had tried to assassinate him that night at the Prince's Mansion.

She had taken off her cloak and laid it on the chair, wearing a blue outfit inside. Upon seeing Chu Mo enter, her face displayed a bit of shyness. She then slowly got up, knelt down, and softly said, "Young Master Chu, I'm here to beg for your help."

"Get up and we can talk." Chu Mo said lightly as he walked toward the stove, put half a kettle of water on it and started heating it up. He then returned and sat across from the girl, not saying anything but merely watched her.

"I..." The young girl hesitated as if she wanted to say something.

Chu Mo waved his hand and looked at her seriously, "Have you decided to leave her?"

The young girl nodded her head, looking pitifully at Chu Mo, "I left her that night. She saved my whole family years ago. If it were not for her, my family and I would probably have died long ago. So, to me, she does have kindness. But these few years, she has harmed all my family members. I ... don't know whether to be grateful to her or hate her."

"Your poison, it's not hard to dispel," said Chu Mo.

The young girl looked at Chu Mo, bit her lower lip lightly, her lively eyes blinked a few times, then she softly said, "I have nothing to repay you with...other than myself."

"We are not talking about repayment. I'm thinking…can I trust you." Chu Mo said lightly.

"If I say now that Young Master can trust me, it won't be very convincing." The young girl spoke softly, then stood up and started to undress, "How about Young Master take me as yours, then, I'll be your woman... naturally, I won't harm Young Master."

Chu Mo glared at her, "Sit down!"

The young girl jumped in fright and sat down a little aggrieved, "How can I gain your trust, Young Master? Unless... just like the princess, by putting poison inside me?"

Chu Mo scoffed, "What do you think of me? You misunderstood my point!"

"Please explain, Young Master." The young girl looked at Chu Mo.

"I promised that I would help you cure your poison, unconditionally. If an eighty-year-old man helped you cure the poison, would you also have offered your body in return?" Chu Mo glared at her angrily, "A girl should know how to respect herself!"

The young girl was scolded but did not get angry. Instead, a trace of joy filled her eyes. She said, "Being able to be Young Master's woman is my blessing. You're so handsome and capable. If it were anyone other than you, I would rather die than let them touch me!"

"Okay, I'm not interested in you," Chu Mo said as he stood up. He went to fetch the half-kettle of water that had already boiled on the stove, planning to make tea.

At this point, the young girl stood and said, "Let me do it." She took the kettle from Chu Mo, found the tea leaves, and skillfully started making the tea.

Chu Mo sat thinking for a while, then said, "I'm working on something right now... I need help. I was thinking about whether I could trust you and let you join in. As for your poison, no matter what, I'll remove it."

Upon hearing this, the young girl's eyes brightened noticeably. She then knelt down again before Chu Mo and solemnly said, "It's an honor that Young Master is willing to help me get rid of the poison unconditionally and take me in. I swear on my deceased family members that I will not betray Young Master in this life. If I break this promise, may my family in the underworld not rest in peace!"
