Chapter 160: Successive Advancement
A sense of bewilderment surfaced in Chu Mo's eyes, trying to picture the scene was a challenge in itself.
It was just one move, one slash... Heaven and Earth mourn together... In Chu Mo's current state, he could not even imagine such a scenario!
The Demon Lord looked at Chu Mo, a touch of sadness clouding his face as he spoke, "Thousand Heavy Hands, Three Talents Boxing Technique, Phantom Tempest Step, and other skills that I handed to you, were once in possession of my fellow disciples. The aim was to disseminate as many skills as possible. However, in the massacre by the great sects, all of my brothers and sisters fell. The skills also fell into other hands. Thankfully, before we left, we shared all the skills amongst ourselves. Every one of us memorized each skill, which is why I could pass them on to you."
Chu Mo finally understood, "So, that's how it was."
The Demon Lord nodded and continued, a gloom overtaking him, "However, the Netherworld Eight Blades is different. The wielder of Netherworld Eight Blades was my senior sister disciple who... had a fondness for me."
Chu Mo watched his still handsome teacher, keeping silent. He supposed his teacher was reminiscing about his lost love. He wasn't sure how to offer comfort.
The Demon Lord sighed lightly, a melancholy smile dancing on his lips, "So, after she met me, she handed the Blades directly to me without sharing it with others. Her seemingly selfish actions ensured that the Netherworld Eight Blades did not fall into the hands of other sects. One could say it was a silver lining."
"So, the Netherworld Eight Blades... they belong only to us?" a surprised Chu Mo asked.
The Demon Lord replied, "Yes, only between us, Master and Disciple, do we hold the knowledge of Netherworld Eight Blades! Of course, this includes the creator of the Netherworld Eight Blades as well."
"Hasn't the senior who created it passed away?" Chu Mo asked.
"Not necessarily." The Demon Lord answered, "The senior who was remarkably talented enough to create a skill like Netherworld Eight Blades, is undoubtedly an unfathomable powerhouse. Maybe, he ascended from the Immortal Realm to the Heavenly Realm... who knows?"
"Ascended to the Heavenly Realm…" A look of longing flashed in Chu Mo's eyes. He pondered inwardly: when will I reach such a realm?
The Demon Lord looked into the distance, speaking lightly, "Alright, someone is coming. Remember, the 'Soul Seizure' slash... you are not yet powerful enough to control it, be careful when using it. In fact, Thousand Heavy Hands, and Three Talents Boxing Technique are powerful as well! At least, it's more than enough to confront these people... Practice them more."
Chu Mo nodded, "Alright, I understand, Master."
The scene seemed ordinary enough, a master teaching his disciple how to combat.
Yet, if those chasing them chanced upon the scene, they would probably be infuriated till they coughed up blood.
The Demon Lord, flickering away, disappeared right in front of Chu Mo's eyes.
Chu Mo couldn't help mumbling, "Is that what the Phantom Tempest Step looks like when it's cultivated to the extreme?"
The Demon Lord's voiced echoed from the void, "Correct."
"Impressive!" Chu Mo couldn't help but praise. He then raised his head to look across the gorge, where over twenty figures were quickly approaching.
Chu Mo glanced at the corpses not far from him and sighed lightly. "Greed is the human's original sin," he mused, the statement held true. He believed that even after the rest had seen the corpses, they would still rush forward without hesitation.
Unless... they knew his master was a terrifying figure.
Unfortunately, they didn't know.
"There he is!"
"Haha, finally, we've found him!"
"Something's not right, weren't the people of the Azure Dragon Hall ahead of us?"
"Look at him... there are several corpses beside him!" finally, someone noticed the abnormality and pointed at the corpses near Chu Mo in alarm.
"How can that be? That young warrior isn't even a Yellow Rank fifth layer, how could he kill so many Earth-Stone level masters?" One of them expressed their utter disbelief.
At this moment, all of them looked at an elderly, snowy-haired woman.
The woman's face was mostly smooth; the few wrinkles didn't retract from her cranelike features. However, her triangular eyes gave her an evil and sinister appearance.
The woman's eyes flickered uncertainly as she watched Chu Mo across the way. With a hum, she closed her eyes without saying anything, engrossed in her observations while listening to their conversation.
The others remained silent, aware that she was using her divine sense to scan the area for any other presence.
They knew that was a skill only the powerful at the Understanding Heart Realm could employ. Those in the Earth-Stone Realm had no choice but to watch in envy.
It was only after a moment of silence that the elderly woman slowly opened her eyes, a trace of exhaustion on her face.
"How did it go? Granny Qu, did you find anything?" someone asked from the side.
"Indeed, this feels a bit too strange… Although the Golden Elders of Azure Dragon Hall aren't the top-level masters, they are not weak either. They are all on par with the Earth-Stone Realm. How could they die inexplicably by that boy?" The person voiced their worry.
Granny Qu, deep in thought, finally responded slowly, "That place... is a bit strange."
"What's strange?" People around her asked.
Granny Qu squinted her eyes and answered, "There's something strange about that young lad!"
"What? Do you mean…" the people around her were confused and looked at her in bafflement.
Granny Qu spoke coldly, "Those corpses were all of a dark complexion, their skin already becoming pitch black. If my guess is correct, there must be a highly toxic substance on that boy! His strength is not very impressive. There is a strong possibility that he used smooth talk to deceive the Golden Elders of Azure Dragon Hall, stole their trust, and poisoned them."
"This…" someone frowned, seemed to feel that something was wrong.
"What? Do you think my analysis is wrong?" Granny Qu looked over with some dissatisfaction.
"No, no. Granny's analysis is very reasonable! It must be like this!" The person quickly responded.
"The sky is clear in this place, vibrant and vivid. I've just sensed this valley with my divine sense. Other than some ferocious beasts, there is no other strong person's breath!" Granny Qu confidently asserted, "So, the problem must be with that boy!"
Then someone asked, "Anyone has anti-poison substance?"
One person responded, "I have a vial of elixir that can neutralize many kinds of potent poison, but this elixir…" he paused midway, reluctant to speak further.
Granny Qu coldly interjected, "No matter how valuable the elixir is, it's not as important as life! Moreover, it's not as important as the inheritance of Piaomiao Palace!"
The person quickly agreed, "Yes, Granny is absolutely correct." Saying this, he took out a vial of elixir and handed it over to Granny Qu.
A smug look flashed through Granny Qu's eyes at the sight of the elixir. Such was the benefit of power!
With power, one earned a superior status!
Even though others may be dissatisfied, they would still dare not defy her, Granny Qu, to her face.
