Heavenly Book of Reincarnation

Chapter 11: End of the Test

Hearing Magnus's words, Nora was utterly surprised. However, his shock did not mean that his line of thinking was incorrect.

A strike launched by oneself did not necessarily mean it would not cause harm to the user. Take a simple example:

A gun could shoot an enemy, but it could also shoot oneself. A fist could injure an opponent, but it could just as easily land on its owner.

There were countless examples proving that Nora's reasoning was not foolish at all. However, the next time he considered this approach, he would need to account for an additional factor—the possibility that his opponent could be immune to their own attacks.

"Let's continue! No matter the difference in strength, I will not give up!"

With a loud shout, Nora launched another attack at Magnus.

The old man, seeing the young one's unwavering determination, couldn't bear to extinguish his fighting spirit. Instead, he chuckled and said:

"Haha! Let this old man see what you've got! This time, I won't use the power of lightning."

With those words, both fighters swung their fists toward each other.

Bang!

A loud impact echoed as their fists clashed. It was clear that Nora was at a disadvantage, despite both of them using the same level of force.

The reason was simple—the hardness of their fists differed. Magnus's fists were far tougher than Nora's.

Nora's hand trembled from the shock, but he had no intention of backing down. Clenching his teeth, he growled:

"Again!"

One punch, two punches, three punches… He continued throwing strikes at Magnus.

Magnus, not wanting to be disrespectful, met each of Nora's punches with his own, matching his blows strike for strike.

After a while, Nora felt his hands growing numb, unable to withstand the relentless exchange. Realizing this, he swiftly changed his approach.

Without warning, he retracted his fists and swiftly swung his leg, aiming a powerful kick at Magnus's right flank.

Seeing the attack, Magnus immediately raised both arms to block before counterattacking.

The two fighters fell into an intense exchange, continuously throwing punches and kicks at each other.

Nora fought with increasing intensity, as if he had been born for battle. Even though his body was showing signs of exhaustion, his attacks never ceased.

.....

Ten minutes passed, and the outcome had become abundantly clear. No—rather, it would be inaccurate to say the battle had a true winner and loser, as Magnus and Nora had never been on the same level to begin with.

At the center of the room, two figures stood in stark contrast.

One stood tall with an imposing posture, his body showing no visible wounds. The other lay face-down on the ground, battered and bruised, looking utterly miserable.

However, despite Nora's current sorry state, he had not sustained any serious injuries. He hadn't fainted due to blood loss but simply from overexertion. With some rest, he would recover quickly.

Alice showed no concern as she assessed the situation. Seeing everything clearly, she ran over to Magnus with a bright smile and said:

"President, was I wrong? He truly has an extraordinary talent, doesn't he?"

The fierce battle aura that once surrounded Magnus had vanished. Once again, he had returned to being a kind and approachable old man.

He nodded in satisfaction, then glanced at the unconscious figure on the ground and said:

"You're right. This brat is indeed a rare talent. Out of thousands, this is the first time I've encountered such a case. It looks like we'll have to send him on frequent missions."

After all, this was the true method of cultivating heroes—undertaking countless missions!

In this world, there was no such thing as cultivation resources freely given. Everything had to be earned through one's own efforts.

Well, to be precise, cultivation resources did exist. However, in the past two years, they had only appeared once, leaving nothing left to be distributed.

Hearing this, Alice asked eagerly:

"Can I take on missions with him? After all, it's been a long time since we last had a gateway connecting to the Demon World."

The Demon World—home to the demons, also known as the invaders of Earth. Humanity had once set foot there in the past, but for some unknown reason, the gateway had only appeared once in the last two years.

Magnus saw no issue with her request, but he couldn't resist teasing her a little:

"Haha! And yet, you claim that your relationship with him is just friendship. If you ask me, it seems more like…"

Magnus hesitated mid-sentence, which only piqued Alice's curiosity even more. She urged him:

"Go on, don't stop halfway like that."

"Best friends."

Magnus replied simply, leaving Alice stunned for a few seconds before she suddenly burst into laughter.

"Hahaha! You're absolutely right!"

Just then, an employee approached and asked:

"President, what should we do with him now?"

As he spoke, he gestured toward the unconscious figure lying on the ground.

Magnus glanced at Nora and answered casually:

"Don't worry, he's not seriously injured. Just take him to the hospital and let him rest for a while—he'll be fine."

With the president's reassurance, the employee felt at ease. He nodded and said:

"Understood, I'll call the medical staff immediately."

Without delay, he took out his phone and made the call.

Not long after, two strong men rushed in, carrying a stretcher.

With practiced efficiency, they swiftly placed the patient onto the stretcher and hurried him out toward the ambulance.

Once everything was handled, the employee said:

"I'll take my leave to prepare his medical report now."

"Mm, go ahead and take care of your work. We won't keep you."

Magnus dismissed him, allowing the employee to go about his duties. After all, he had no interest in wasting other people's time.

Now that only the two of them remained in the room, Magnus turned to Alice and said, "Aren't you going to the hospital to take care of that brat? You seem quite concerned about him."

Alice simply smiled and shook her head.

"He doesn't need me to take care of him. This kind of minor injury is nothing to him. I'll just drop by and visit once he wakes up."

Magnus chuckled:

"Haha! So, you won't go to take care of him, but visiting him is fine? That's an interesting way to put it."

Feeling completely misunderstood, Alice protested:

"That's not what I meant, President! I really have no intention of taking care of him. I just want to visit him for fun!"
