Hero or Villain, Both

Chapter 117: Field trip (12)

I didn't know what to say or what to do at first since I didn't really trust this Fae, but it wasn't as if there was anything that I could do from standing out here.

In the end, this temple was my target to begin with, so I should at least take a look.

But the moment that I stepped into the temple, I couldn't help feeling that I had made a mistake.

That was because this temple was completely filled with spirit energy.

It was to the point where it felt like it was about to explode from how compact the spirit energy inside of this place was. It really didn't feel like a normal situation, it felt like something bad was about to happen.

"You can tell that there's an abnormal amount of spirit energy in this place, right?" Fae asked all of a sudden which caught me off guard.

I didn't know what she was trying to do by asking this all of a sudden, but it also didn't seem like she had any ulterior motives in asking this simple question.

Since it was a simple question, I slowly nodded in agreement.

"Ha, ha, ha, you don't have to act so worried. Anyone that can feel spirit energy will be able to tell that there is a large amount of it here, let alone a high elf that would be sensitive to stuff like spirit energy."

It almost seemed like Fae was teasing me with the way that she said this which made me knit my brows.

But in the end, I just ignored it as I asked, "Why is there all this spirit energy in this place?"

This time, Fae didn't seem to answer as she suddenly stopped laughing and looked around the room with a serious look on her face.

After a while, she said, "The four of you can come out now. It's not as if I'll hold anything against the four of you, you were just doing what you had to do."

As I was confused about what she meant by this, there was a change in the spirit energy around us.

When I looked in the direction that the fluctuations came from, I found that there were some small figures that appeared. However, these figures weren't just anything normal, these were spirits that had appeared.

Looking at them, I could tell that they weren't normal spirits either.

These weren't just Medium Grade Spirits, they were actually High Grade Spirits.

In a fight, there was no way that I would be able to do anything to them even with my current shared stats.

But at least it didn't seem like they were planning to fight.

Rather, it seemed like all of them were staring at Fae.

With the way that they looked at her, it was as if they were worried about something.

When they appeared, Fae just looked at them with smiles and waved them over before saying, "Come here, it's been a long time since we've seen each other. Why are you acting like you don't know me at all?"

When she said this, the High Grade Spirits didn't waste any time in flying over to Fae's side. But after reaching her side, they didn't actually make contact with her, choosing to float nearby instead of coming too close.

It was as if they were afraid that they would hurt her by touching her.

That made sense since the body that she was using was the body of a high elf that hadn't developed yet. If Fae were to actually make contact with these High Grade Spirits, then there was no doubt that she would be injured because of this.

The person inside of Fae's body also knew this, so she only raised a hand that was covered in spirit energy before patting the air above them to say, "It really has been a long time since we've seen each other. How have you all been doing?"

The spirits seemed to bounce around as if they were happily reporting what they had encountered to her, but it wasn't as if I could hear anything.

These spirits naturally communicated with thoughts, so everything that was happening was happening inside of their minds.

After they bounced around for a bit, they finally seemed to calm down.

That was when Fae turned her attention back to me along with the spirits.

I couldn't help tensing when I saw this.

Four High Grade Spirits…it definitely wasn't something that I could fight.

Perhaps I might be able to run, but…it would be hard.

"There's no need to be this tense, it's not as if we're going to do something to you. Especially since you're quite the good seed for the elven race, it would be wrong to do anything to you."

I couldn't help raising a brow to look at Fae when she said this.

She just looked back at me with a smile on her face before slowly saying, "It's not as if you haven't figured out who I am yet, right? You should already have an idea, so there's no need to be surprised."

I slowly nodded in agreement when I heard this before saying, "Just how are you alive though?"

With a shrug, Fae said, "Who said that I was alive?"

"Then what is going on here?"

With a more serious look, Fae said, "This child is one from my bloodline, that means that there's a connection to me. It's most likely the reason why she even came to this place to begin with."

As expected, my suspicions were correct.

With the way that Fae had been acting, I knew that there was something special about her sudden transfer to the Verdant Academy.

Though I certainly didn't expect it to be something like this.

"Then you're possessing her?"

"That's right, I'm just borrowing her body to house the soul that was sealed here to create this place. Though if it wasn't for a certain someone, then I wouldn't have needed to do something like this."

"Certain someone?" I asked in a confused voice.

"Who else could it be other than you?" Fae said with a snort.
