Chapter 151: A plot involving…
"What is it that you called me out here for?" I asked the bundled up person in front of me.
Though in reality, this person wasn't actually a person.
This person was a lich and the one of our avatars, Faust.
He was the one that had been captured by the Undead Society and turned into this lich form.
But now he was making the most of it by creating an army of the undead to one day take revenge on the Undead Society.
Right now, he was doing that by using the corpses that were scattered all over the wilderness. At the same time, he was helping me with my campaign against the Iron Fist Gang since that would yield a decent amount of corpses.
"You can find out instantly if you connect your senses with mine." Faust said in a matter of fact voice.
But I just said, "I could, but it wouldn't be as fun. I like to have a bit of mystery, which is why I haven't linked our senses yet and found this information."
With a disdainful snort, Faust said, "Basically you're saying that you don't like to be serious and like to fool around."
I chose not to answer this question.
In the end, Faust didn't bother dragging this topic up since he didn't seem interested in it either. Instead, he just turned around and waved his hand at me to follow him.
I followed him without a word, but when we entered his lair and saw the things that were inside…
"Why are you disgusted by them?" Faust asked without even turning around.
"You think that a normal person wouldn't be disgusted by these things?" I asked back without any hesitation.
The things that I was talking about were the undead that were all over the place.
There were all kinds of undead that were here, but there was one thing that they had in common.
Rotting flesh.
It was hard for undead not to have rotting flesh unless it had already all rotted away like in the case of the skeletons. But for most of the undead, they were covered in rotting flesh because their corpses weren't that old.
As a normal person, it was only natural that I would be disgusted by this.
Faust still didn't bother turning around as he said, "Since these are my servants, that means that they also belong to you. So you're saying that you're disgusted by your own servants?"
"Don't try to twist those words on me, you know exactly what this situation is. I won't let you turn this on me. We're all suited for different things and this is what you're suited for, so stop trying to make me seem like a bad person."
This time, Faust finally turned around and looked at me.
Though he didn't have any facial expressions, the way that the flames in his eyes moved showed enough emotions.
He was basically looking at me with one brow raised as if he was judging me.
This time, I didn't deem it necessary to continue this conversation.
All I did was say, "Bring me to what you want to show me already. I don't want to stay here longer than I have to."
Faust didn't say anything at first as if he was about to tease me again, but then he gave a nod and turned back around to lead the way.
When he led me to where he wanted to bring me, I couldn't help looking at him with one raised brow of my own.
After all, the place that he had brought me was this room that had a pit of sand in it and nothing else.
Before I could ask anything, Faust suddenly started flying up into the sky.
He didn't go that far, but he did fly up high enough that he was out of range for me.
Faust didn't bother explaining what was happening, he just said, "I would stay away from the middle if I were you."
As soon as his voice fell, the sand under me started to shift.
It didn't take long for there to be a whirlpool of sand forming under me and it was pulling me towards the center, which was also the center of the room.
Though I had no idea what was down there since I couldn't see through the sand, I knew that there had to be something there since Faust wouldn't give this warning for no reason.
In that case…
"Damn, why did you have to make it sand?" I couldn't help complaining.
After all, it really was hard to run in the sand like this since the more that I ran, the more that I fell down.
Sand wasn't stable enough for my large frame, so it was hard for me to run atop it.
But in the end, I was able to figure out a way to kick off before my feet fell that allowed me to move.
When I didn't fall towards the center of the whirlpool of sand, it was as if there was something that reacted to this. That was why there were large sets of teeth that came out of the sand that were aimed right at me.
"What are these things?" I couldn't help asking in a panic, but Faust didn't say anything.
So all I could do was keep running away from the sets of teeth that came out of the sand until Faust was finally bored of watching me.
With a snap of his fingers, the sand stopped falling into the center and the things that had been chasing me revealed themselves to be worms.
These weren't normal worms, these were mutated sand worms.
At the same time, there was no sign of life that came from them.
It was clear that these sand worms were undead.
"This is my idea. I think that it'll work quite well, especially since they won't be able to do anything against it."
I couldn't help shaking my head with a bitter smile before saying, "You have to tell me more or else I won't be able to agree. I'm not going to risk my people on this plan without knowing what it is."
