Hero or Villain, Both

Chapter 154: It’s empty?

As Iron Head saw his final scene, there was someone that was watching while hiding behind a building.

He was the one that had created the shockwave that had destroyed those chakrams of his.

"It seems like I still have to get used to using this technique." I couldn't help saying as I looked down at my hands.

This technique that I just used to create those shockwaves was one that had been learned from Kasim, though I wasn't the one that had learned this technique.

No matter how we looked at it, the decision to hire Kasim really was the best one.

After all, there were few NPCs in this world that had the same level of technique that he had.

While in terms of game stage, he was still considered only a powerful mid game character, there really were no characters that could match the level of technique that he possessed.

That was because Kasim was a special NPC that had the teachings of the legendary King of Darkness from the past. He was a special NPC that would one day become the true king of assassins.

So being able to recruit him now was a very good investment.

This technique was a special hand to hand combat technique that would turn one's punches into shockwaves that could destroy internally.

That was what had destroyed those chakrams in the end.

But even though I had learned it, my proficiency with this technique still wasn't good.

I wasn't able to do the same things that Kasim could do if he were to use this technique.

After seeing Iron Head being swallowed by the sand worms, I didn't waste any more time in this place.

After all, there were still other targets that I had to get.

So I put my hand down on the ground once more and released the same mana waves as before.

The moment that the sand worms felt these mana waves, they didn't waste any time at all in following me.

We weren't heading in the direction of the ones from the Iron Fist Gang that had escaped.

We were heading in the direction of the others that had been following the Iron Fist Gang.

Once we were in the same area as them, I didn't act right away as I used a spell to find where everyone was spread out.

"Too close to each other right now…I guess I'll have to separate them." I put my hand down on the ground once more after saying this.

The moment that my hand went to the ground, the sand worms were already moving.

They didn't waste any time digging down into the ground, hiding themselves in the sand that was created. Only when they were close did they suddenly burst out of the ground.

"Sh*t! It's the sand worms! Run!"

There wasn't a single person that chose to fight the sand worms since they didn't have anything to benefit from it. Everyone that was here knew that if they fought the sand worms, they would be turned into bait by everyone else who was here.

So they chose to ignore the sand worms and just run.

The sand worms didn't really chase them as well since this was nothing more than a distraction in the first place.

The sand worms had specifically appeared in between the different groups that were here to split them up.

But of course, no one really noticed this since they were too busy running from these sand worms.

Once they were split up, that was when I started hunting down the leaders of the different groups.

Over the past few days leading up to this, we had already pinpointed who the leaders of the different groups were. It was simple to figure this out by watching their groups act normally since the ones that were the leaders acted much more arrogantly than the others.

While hunting them down, I made sure to only target the leaders just like I had done with Iron Head.

Each time, they were shocked when the shockwaves destroyed their weapons.

None of them knew what was happening as they were being swallowed by the sand worms.

When it was all over, I didn't leave a single trace as I ran away with the sand worms.

Those that remained made their way to the center of the town where the waves of mana were coming from.

All of them had excited looks on their faces when they came near the location that the mana waves were coming from. However, these expressions were soon replaced with looks of confusion and disappointment.

That was because what they found was not what they had been expecting.

"Why is it empty?"

That was all that they could say when they found that there wasn't anything here other than an orb that was releasing mana.

When they tried approaching the orb, they found that the mana that it was releasing was also becoming weaker and weaker as if it was about to run out. At the same time, they found that there wasn't anything special about this orb.

None of them could understand what this was.

But they knew that they had been cheated by this orb into thinking that there was treasure here.

"Where are our leaders?"

Once they got over the fact that there was nothing here, they started questioning the fact that none of their leaders were here. And once they started questioning this, they naturally turned to look at the Iron Fist Gang.

This was their territory, so it seemed most likely that they were the ones that had done something to their leaders.

"We didn't do anything. Even our leader is gone."

Though they made this excuse, it was clear that no one believed this.

It was clear that everyone thought that they were the ones behind all of this.

But in reality, the ones that had been behind this were already gone with the corpses of their leaders.

No one could prove a single thing.
