High Martial Arts: Unmatched in Reality - Ascending Beyond the Game

Chapter 12: ch 12-Wild Beast: Black Horn Bull

The middle-aged man waved his hand, and the camp gate opened wide.

At that moment, all the students seemed to hesitate, exchanging uncertain glances.

"Start right away?"

"We're... not ready yet."

Whispers filled the air as Yogan observed the dark wilderness, his eyes flickering with anticipation.

"Night is the paradise of ferocious beasts. The school knows how to set the stage," he muttered under his breath.

Chen Quan swallowed nervously, staring at the pitch-black landscape outside the camp.

"Let's go," Jiang Qiuran said calmly, her cold expression showing no trace of fear.

Yogan looked at the girl, smiled, and nodded. With strong teammates by his side, his task would be much easier.

At that moment, three figures stood on the other side of the camp. The tallest among them had a buzz cut and a lean build, standing a head taller than those around him. He looked strikingly composed in a simple white T-shirt and martial arts uniform, a bulging black sports bag slung over his shoulder. His confident presence made him stand out.

The students gathered around him watched in awe but didn't speak a word.

"Let's go!" The buzz-cut boy said indifferently, his lips curling into a slight smile. His eyes were fixed ahead as he walked on without hesitation.

Even when he passed the teacher leading his group, he merely nodded in acknowledgment without saying a word.

Behind him, a man and a woman followed closely, their faces full of admiration.

"Ling Fei from Class 1!"

"So cool, I like him so much!"

As his figure disappeared into the distance, the students around him suddenly broke into excited chatter.

"Ling Fei from Omi City is amazing," a tall, handsome boy said, his voice filled with admiration.

"Huo Yu, you have to help me take down Ling Fei if we run into him!" he added, turning to a burly boy beside him with a dull expression.

"Why don't you do it yourself?" the dull boy asked, tilting his head.

"Why would I need you if I could beat him?" the flirtatious boy retorted nonchalantly, as if it were the most obvious thing.

He flicked his bangs back and strode confidently toward the wilderness.

"Yeah," the dull boy muttered and followed closely behind.

As the three strongest students from different schools made their way into the wilderness, the rest of the students followed, their steps hesitant and unsure.

The dark wilderness ahead felt like the gaping mouth of a beast ready to devour them. A chill ran down their spines as they ventured deeper.

Yogan and his team moved forward cautiously, taking in their surroundings.

"According to the map, there are ferocious beasts not far ahead," Jiang Qiuran said, leading the way.

Chen Quan walked at the back, his face pale and anxious. He was clearly not accustomed to this type of situation.

As they moved deeper into the wilderness, rustling sounds filled the air, and distant roars of beasts echoed through the night.

"Stay alert," Jiang Qiuran warned, her voice sharp.

Suddenly, her eyes narrowed as she peered through the dark bushes. A shadow slithered under a rotten tree trunk, moving in their direction.

"It's a beast!" she said, her voice low but firm.

Chen Quan's voice trembled. "Is that... a beast?"

This was his first real encounter with a terrifying beast, and the fear was evident in his eyes.

Jiang Qiuran, however, was unshaken. She drew her long knife from its sheath, her face eager with anticipation. "Leave this to me. No one else touch it!"

Her eyes gleamed with excitement as she stepped forward.

Yogan narrowed his eyes, using the faint light to illuminate the shadow while scanning their surroundings with his peripheral vision. Something felt off. It was as if they were being watched from the darkness.

Jiang Qiuran advanced a few steps and finally saw the creature's true form. "It's a Black-Horned Bull!" she exclaimed.

The beast raised its head, revealing its dark, spiky fur. Its most distinctive feature was the sharp black horn on its forehead, which glowed faintly in the night. The bull let out a loud, warning bellow.

"Moo!" it sounded, as though announcing its presence to them.

"Help me keep an eye on the surroundings!" Jiang Qiuran commanded, her grip tightening on her weapon.

Chen Quan sighed in relief, his voice shaky. "It's just a first-level beast. Its thick skin and muscles should be its only strength. It won't be a problem for her..."

But Yogan remained calm and observant. He whispered, "The beasts have started to form teams. Their intelligence is improving rapidly."

"What do you mean?" Chen Quan asked, his voice cracking with concern as he quickly scanned the area.

A chill crept up his spine, and his instincts screamed at him to stay alert.

From the darkness around them, four more figures emerged, each a Black-Horned Bull, their eyes glowing with a dangerous gleam. They wheezed heavily as they closed in on the group.

"Moo! Moo!" they roared in unison.

Chen Quan's eyes widened in fear. "Four more Black-Horned Bulls! We're in trouble now!"

He froze, unable to move. The sight of the bulls closing in on them paralyzed him with fear.

"Two for each of us. It's doable, right?" Jiang Qiuran said nonchalantly, her tone confident despite the overwhelming odds.

"Ah?!" Chen Quan's mind went blank. His body trembled as he processed the situation. He nodded hesitantly. This was his first time facing such brutal creatures, and the thought of fighting them terrified him.

"Yogan... Brother Yogan, please be quick. I might not last long," he said, his face pale as he took out a special shield and rushed forward with trembling hands.

Yogan didn't respond immediately. Instead, he took a small step, his palm sliding the dark dagger from his belt. It was a weapon he had specifically chosen from the school's armory—sharp enough to penetrate the defenses of ordinary first-level beasts.

Roar!

One of the Black-Horned Bulls charged forward, its massive body moving with incredible speed. Its eyes, like copper bells, flashed with malice, and its horns glowed menacingly in the dark.

Boom!

The ground shook as the bull barreled toward Yogan, intent on crushing him with its brute force. The bull's movements were swift, as if it were a heavily armored vehicle on a collision course.

Yogan remained unfazed. The beast's rage only made him more focused. He wasn't about to let a mere beast intimidate him.
