Chapter 29: Chapter 28: Showdown at Kuoh Academy
"Sona, the school's sealed in a barrier. Damage won't spill out unless it's extreme," Saji reports to Rias.
Saji's moving stiffly probably from that spanking.
Everyone except Kiba is gathered before Kuoh Academy. Sona's Sitri clan has encased the school in a massive barrier, but it's just to contain the chaos. Against Kokabiel, it's flimsy.
"This barrier's a stopgap. If Kokabiel gets serious, he could level the town," Sona adds.
Kokabiel's that monstrous.
"Miu, that magic circle any ideas?" I point to the glowing array in the courtyard, four swords floating at its center.
"Not sure," Miu says, frowning. "But it feels… bad."
That's not good.
"Ddraig, how's Balance Breaker?" I ask.
"Ten minutes. You won't need Tiamat," Ddraig replies.
Good. I want to punch Kokabiel myself.
"Thanks, Sona. We'll handle it," Rias says.
"Rias, he's a monster," Sona warns.
"I know. I've sent Akeno to contact my brother," Rias replies. "Akeno, what's Sirzechs say?"
"He'll arrive in forty minutes," Akeno answers.
"I'll keep the barrier up," Sona vows.
"Hold on," I interrupt. "Miu, reinforce the barrier."
"Got it," Miu nods, casting a spell to strengthen it.
Sona's impressed; Rias beams. "That's Miu for you."
The barrier's set."Let's go. No one dies. We'll keep attending this school!" Rias rallies.
"Yes, President!" we shout.
"Saji, keep that barrier tight!" I say, fist-bumping him.
Miu steps closer. "Crush him, big brother."
"Promise," I grin. She smiles back.
No losing now, Ddraig.
"Kokabiel's biblical. Show him a dragon's power," Ddraig growls.
We march in, facing Kokabiel, lounging midair on a chair Fallen Angel trick?Balper stands by the magic circle.
"What's with this giant array?" I demand.
"Fusing four Excaliburs into one," Balper smirks.
"How long, Balper?" Kokabiel asks.
"Five minutes," Balper replies.
Kokabiel eyes Rias. "Your red hair's like your brother's—sickening. Where's Sirzechs? Serafall?"
"We're your opponents!" Rias snaps.
A flash. The gym explodes, obliterated by Kokabiel's massive light spear.
"Lame, but entertaining," he sneers.
"Play with my pets first."Kokabiel snaps his fingers. Magic circles spawn over ten three-headed Cerberus hounds, roaring.
"Those are Cerberus hell's gatekeepers!" Rias shouts, charging with Akeno.
I activate Boosted Gear. "Boost!"
"Asia, set up a barrier and heal anyone injured!" I order.
"Got it!" Asia replies.
A Cerberus lunges at Asia."Your fight's with me, mutt!" I slam its head, cratering the ground.
"Next!" I shout.
Koneko mutters, "One-shotting Cerberus… Issei's insane."
Says the girl who mangled one herself. Her Cerberus is a twisted wreck.
She hurls one at me. "Why?!"
"You called me a loli," she glares.
"Do you read minds?!" I yell.
"Shut up and fight," she snaps, tackling another.
A Cerberus breathes fire."That's nothing!" I dodge and uppercut its jaw, shattering it. Two down.
Kokabiel claps. "Impressive, Red Dragon Emperor. Rias's crew isn't bad."
"Underestimate us, you'll regret it," I retort.
"What about her?"He points at Asia, her barrier cracking under Cerberus assault.
"Asia!" Rias yells.
But then—
"Sorry we're late," Kiba says.
"Here to help," Xenovia adds.
They slice through the Cerberus attacking Asia, killing it.
"About time, pretty boy!" I grin.
"Sorry," Kiba laughs.
"Make up for it," I say.
"Count on it!"Kiba slashes Cerberuses with knight-speed precision.
Xenovia's holy sword rips through another, its body dissolving."Holy swords devastate demons!"
Rias and Akeno unleash massive magic, wiping out the remaining Cerberuses.
"Don't want to tank that," I mutter.
"You could," Ddraig teases.
"Not immortal like Riser," I retort.
"Balance Breaker could," he counters.
Rias fires a colossal destruction blast at Kokabiel. Akeno follows. I transfer power to a ki blast."Take this!"
Our attacks merge, slamming Kokabiel. He blocks, laughing. "Thrilling!"
He tanked it."He survived wars against gods and demon kings," Ddraig says.
