Hogwarts: I'm Really a Model Wizard

Chapter 150: Chapter 150 ⭃ There Can't Possibly Be Trolls at Hogwarts

On Saturday, Kyle arrived at the Great Hall early.

Yesterday he hadn't gone night wandering, but went straight to bed after dinner and slept until dawn, waking up feeling completely refreshed.

Breakfast consisted of sausages, corn soup, and a heaping plate of roasted potatoes.

He was halfway through his meal when the others arrived.

"Looks like you slept well last night." Cedric said, sitting across from him, "No more strange dreams?"

Kyle smiled and said, "None, I slept straight through until morning."

"That's good." Cedric picked up a roasted potato and began peeling it, "By the way, I told Professor Trelawney about your situation yesterday. Do you want to know what she thinks?"

Without hesitation, Kyle shook his head, "Better not. I've heard her predictions never bring good news."

"Uh... you're right about that." Cedric nodded.

According to Professor Trelawney, Kyle would have dreams for seven consecutive days, then have a mental breakdown and end up in the hospital wing. After being discharged, he would encounter a troll and get knocked back to the hospital with one blow.

In short, quite unfortunate.

But now it seemed Professor Trelawney was wrong from the very first sentence, and everything that followed was complete nonsense. Talking about meeting a troll in the castle... that's simply impossible!

If a troll could actually break into Hogwarts, he would eat this entire plate of roasted potatoes in front of everyone.

Cedric rubbed his forehead in frustration. Just as everyone said, Professor Trelawney was nothing but a fraud. He should never have listened to the Weasley twins and chosen Divination as a subject.

Wouldn't Arithmancy have been better?

But it was too late now. Even if he wanted to change courses, he'd have to wait until next semester.

Cedric sighed.

At that moment, Fred and George arrived.

They weren't in good shape, both looking half-asleep. Though they'd experienced sleep deprivation before from their regular night wanderings, today was different.

Professor McGonagall had refused their request to change courses, only agreeing to add Ancient Runes. Three elective courses now kept them extremely busy every day.

Yesterday, they had stayed up until dawn working on their Ancient Runes assignment.

"Merlin's beard, you're actually doing homework in advance?!"

Surprised, Cedric's hand trembled, causing his freshly peeled potato to drop to the floor and roll under the table.

"You're not impostors, are you? Who drank Polyjuice Potion?" Kyle eyed the twins suspiciously and asked, "What do you think of Percy?"

George frowned, somewhat annoyed, "Hey, of course we're real."

"And Percy is a big tattletale idiot." Fred added.

"Uh... it really is them." Now Kyle was even more confused, "Then why are you doing homework in advance?"

"For our ambitions!" Fred said seriously, "You were right, Ancient Runes really helps with researching magical items. We already came up with two great ideas during class."

"But... it's so difficult." George said with a grimace, "Those symbols have so many variations, and different combinations represent different meanings. No wonder Percy spent the entire summer studying them."

Cedric deeply agreed with this, as he had also chosen Ancient Runes. Fred and George weren't joking at all — it was truly difficult.

"Anyway, let's talk about something else." Fred yawned, "Kyle, you've decided to join the Quidditch team, right?"

"Yes." Kyle said, "I already spoke with Harris a few days ago. I'll participate in the final trials next week. What about you? Have you determined the new captain and Seeker?"

"Oliver Wood is the captain. He's the most suitable."

"But we still don't have a Seeker."

Kyle noticed Fred and George's expressions growing gloomier.

Finding an excellent Seeker was just as difficult as mastering Ancient Runes. There were plenty of applicants, but not a single qualified one. Many couldn't even spot the Snitch when it was right in front of their eyes.

If they fielded such players, Gryffindor would only be competing with Ravenclaw for third place.

These days, Oliver was losing handfuls of hair from worry, his hairline prematurely receding despite his young age.

Worried sick, Fred and George quickly finished their breakfast and dragged their exhausted bodies toward the Quidditch pitch. They needed to continue interviewing Seekers today — not hoping to match Cedric, just to find someone who met the basic requirements.

Professor McGonagall would be there too, as she was equally concerned about this matter.

At her suggestion, Lee Jordan had temporarily abandoned his application to be the commentator. If they ultimately couldn't find a suitable candidate, he would have to step up.

Between a Seeker and a commentator, Lee knew which role carried more weight.

After they left, Cedric suddenly raised his eyebrows at Kyle and said quietly, "Looks like Hufflepuff has a good chance for a second consecutive championship this year."

"Not necessarily." Kyle thought for a moment and said, "Maybe they'll find a Seeker in a few days."

"Doesn't matter." Cedric said confidently, "No matter who it is, even if they bring Charlie back, I'm confident I'll catch the Golden Snitch first."

Kyle smiled.

In other areas, Cedric was always modest, but when it came to Quidditch, he became a different person, yielding to no one. Of course, that was a good thing.

On the first weekend of the new school year, Kyle decided to visit Hagrid's hut.

Kanna had wanted to come along, but was whisked away by Snape, who appeared from nowhere.

As for Cedric, like the Weasley twins, he was heading to the Quidditch pitch.

All four House teams would be conducting their initial selections over these two days, and he planned to scout for information, checking if there were any impressive newcomers this year.

For instance... Cho, who had also signed up for the Quidditch team this year, and for the Seeker position no less. Cedric wasn't sure about her abilities, but he was quite looking forward to it.

Last year's Ravenclaw team was terrible, basically a pushover that anyone could beat. Playing against them felt more like going through the motions, without any excitement.

If Ravenclaw gained a competent Seeker this year, the matches would become more interesting.

As for whether they might lose to them... Cedric had never considered that possibility.

Hufflepuff was the champion last year, and with Kyle joining them this year, they would only be stronger.
