Chapter 95: Killing Intentions Against Danzo
When Yuma sensed the malice directed at him, he switched from passive to active perception.
"There are so many chakra signatures around this malice... Wait, that chakra... is it Orochimaru-senpai?"
After pinpointing the source of the malicious energy, Yuma immediately deduced, "It's you, Shimura Danzo!"
Once he identified the source, Yuma found the situation rather amusing.
The reason was simple: Yuma had adjusted his perception system. Without this adjustment, he wouldn't be able to live a normal life.
After his Ōtsutsuki transformation was completed, his perception abilities had changed. Before, he could only perceive chakra passively; now, he could actively focus on it. However, this passive perception was bothersome for Yuma.
Being almost an Ōtsutsuki, his chakra perception surpassed that of lower-ranked clans like the Senju and Uzumaki. In other words, his ability to sense emotions had not only grown stronger but had become passive.
This meant that Yuma was now picking up on countless hostile intentions in the village. Being an educated and rational individual, he knew that no matter how strong or admirable someone might be, there would always be those who disliked them. Even wealth has its detractors.
Konoha, a large military city with a population of tens of thousands, naturally had many people who would harbor negative feelings toward him.
Thus, Yuma adjusted his perception system so that it would only detect malice when it reached the point of someone wanting to kill him.
Now, after actively sensing the malice and deducing it came from Danzo, Yuma was disgusted.
There was nothing redeeming about Danzo in his eyes. To him, Danzo was nothing more than Sarutobi Hiruzen's scapegoat, a tool to take the blame. Yet, Danzo seemed proud of this role, thinking that his service to Konoha would earn him the Hokage position once Sarutobi stepped down.
Yuma couldn't help but scoff at Danzo's naïve ambition.
Danzo had once been brave and clever, especially during the war when he tried to cover the retreat, but he failed to act quickly enough and became a shadow of Sarutobi Hiruzen. After that, he could never become Hokage again.
The reason was simple: people change.
Once a person is in a position of power for too long, especially overseeing dark operations, even the most righteous individuals can be corrupted.
Danzo had become a shell of his former self, and Yuma could easily see through him. With his little popularity and his dark past, there was no way Danzo would ever become Hokage.
"But since Danzo harbors such malice toward me, I'll have to strike back!" Yuma thought.
Danzo had a history of resorting to extreme measures when things seemed hopeless.
In the original timeline, Danzo was willing to assassinate the Hokage to claim the position for himself. Yuma had no intention of letting this dangerous person succeed.
But Yuma knew that if Danzo became radicalized, he would stop at nothing to achieve his goal, even treason.
With that in mind, Yuma planned to deal with him quickly.
He didn't waste any time and made his way toward Danzo's location, sneaking in with his Wood Style techniques.
Wood Style infiltration was nearly impossible to detect, and Yuma's abilities, now amplified by his Ōtsutsuki powers, were far superior to anything Danzo had.
He easily infiltrated the Root base, but as he breached a wall, an unexpected sight made him pause.
"Ah, the loyal Black Zetsu?" Yuma thought.
The appearance of Black Zetsu made Yuma reconsider his plan to assassinate Danzo.
He decided to observe the situation between the two first.
As for whether he had been detected by Black Zetsu or White Zetsu, Yuma wasn't concerned.
It was widely known that Black Zetsu, though a product of Kaguya, had little strength due to his rushed creation. He was no match for someone like Yuma, who had mastered the Ōtsutsuki's powers.
Quietly eavesdropping, Yuma watched the conversation unfold.
It didn't take long before things went awry. Danzo, always suspicious, immediately attacked Black Zetsu.
Yuma found this moment particularly entertaining.
"I didn't expect Danzo to be so bold as to reject Black Zetsu's proposition!"
Black Zetsu had tried to convince Danzo to fight against the Uchiha and Sarutobi Hiruzen, promising him the Hokage position. But when Danzo heard that, his demeanor changed instantly. He ordered the Root ninjas to surround and kill Black Zetsu on the spot.
However, Black Zetsu easily escaped, diving underground.
Yuma found the exchange between Danzo and Black Zetsu amusing.
But seeing Black Zetsu again gave Yuma a new idea. He didn't want to focus solely on Danzo anymore.
After all, both Danzo and Black Zetsu seemed to have a personal vendetta against him.
It seemed like the perfect opportunity to eliminate both threats once and for all.
