Chapter 1180: Poisoned?-2
Without any weapon or even covering himself, he went downstairs, ready to go outside in the freezing cold. He didn't care whether they had guns or even more deadly drugs; he knew he was losing his grip on reality, which was a sign that his body was shutting down to battle the drug.
From the initial responses of his body, he knew the drug didn't seem to be lethal but a way to neutralize the target. They might be here to get him to tell them where he hid Clark, or they could be here to bring him to the Green family either way; he couldn't let them leave.
"Impossible! I see movement downstairs! Everyone should be asleep by now!" One of the people said with disbelief in his tone.
"Relax; there are some side effects of people feeling extremely hot and aroused, but it would soon calm down. Whoever it is must be trying to find some cold spots in the house."
"No. Through the thermal, I can see he is walking upright and is heading straight in our direction. Now, he is opening the door. Everyone get ready!"
Samuel knew the attackers were a team of seven, forming a semicircle in his back porch. Only one seemed to be staying back, probably the leader giving instructions. He could hear their chatter, but his mind couldn't properly make out what they were talking about. He could only get bits and pieces, but it was enough for him.
At least his magic was working properly if he focused all his attention on it. For now, his magic shield would be enough to put them down!
"He is out! What do you want me to do?"
"Stop! It's the prime target! We-"
"No, we are not here for him. We need to capture the girls and bring them for questioning." Suddenly a crispy voice different from any of them rang through the intercoms. Everyone paused for a second and followed their direction.
They had little chemistry because they had just been hired and were new to the job, but they were obedient enough to follow the 'leader's' orders because they were greedy for the high salary and bonus for seizing the opportunity to enter such a position.
They couldn't have progressed thus far without their assistance. To get here, they had to slink past several dozen guards and navigate a number of intricate security systems spread across the woodland. They really wanted the expedition to be over so they could return laughing and stuffed full of money!
"We can't just stay here!? We have to search the house and find them before the sun rises!" One of them protested, knowing what was at stake.
"Just wait! I can see that he must be feeling the effects just looking at him. He has no clothes and is walking in such a funny way." Someone else reminded him not to talk back to their leader under any circumstances.
Samuel darted his head around, looking from side to side, taking in their position, but suddenly he felt another massive headache, which made him fall to his knees. It snowed a little, so he was kneeling on the ground while holding his head.
"See? He is almost out. The stuff we got works perfectly, but some are more immune to it than others." Everyone cheered quietly, ready to move inside the house on command, but suddenly they heard a grumpy voice.
"Are you the ones that attacked Kate's house? You have some courage sneaking here with so few people. Aren't you worried that no one would find your body in these woods?" Samuel lifted his head just enough to glance in the leader's direction. He was surprised for a second, taking in their appearance, but it was only for a moment. No matter who it was, he couldn't let them take Kate and Bella under any circumstance!
"Wait exactly one minute before moving inside; he is almost out." The leader gave final order as they counted down the seconds.
Samuel was slowly moving toward the ground and was now laying on it on his stomach. He fought with all his might, but the drug still got the best of him, knocking him out cold. Everyone knew it was their time to act.
They began to move quickly out of the bush and started to enter. In order to prevent them from setting off any alarms, Samuel even rewarded them by opening the door. The leader emerged after the five had gathered around Samuel's unconscious corpse and stood silently in the center, watching Samuel.
Even though it was their first encounter, they were nevertheless aware of his business achievements. Those that were aware of it were aware that a complete force was behind him, gathering and performing tasks for him that were so risky that many of them wouldn't even touch it with a ten-foot rod!
He was an admirable young person, but that was also his biggest weakness. He was too inexperienced to know the true cruelty of the world. Maybe in the future he would be wise enough to understand some things need to be considered when touching others, even when one stands at the peak.
As the saying goes, an army of ants could take down an elephant; maybe that would be the fate of Rothschild if he keeps being so reckless. Either way, their task was finished. What they needed was to bring the witnesses back with them and leave the rest to the Green family to handle.
As they were about to step inside the house, they felt a sudden chill sweep the surroundings. It was already cold but they were wearing heavy gear which made this occurance even more strange. Shouldn't the house be warmer inside?
The chill began to intensify rapidly, even making some of their teeth chatter uncontrollabily. Right then, they heard a distinct noise from their back, which made them turn their weapon back in anticipation. What they saw gave them the fright of their life!
