Chapter 13: Honkai: Star Rail – From the Moment Tom The Cat Became My Passenger [13]
While Kafka and Tom were locked in an intense, all-out brawl, Yevenko and Silver Wolf had somehow slipped into a chill gaming chat session. The outcome—Kafka getting ganked mid-battle—left Silver Wolf feeling… slightly awkward.
She stood up, still holding a half-finished bottle of milk. She didn't know what brand it was, only that it tasted exceptionally smooth and refreshing—easily the best she'd ever had. And apparently good for growth, too.
Casually, she used her Ether Editor to teleport the bubblegum in her mouth into the cosmos as floating space trash. Then, lifting the bottle, she prepared to finish the milk in one long drink.
She tilted the bottle of creamy white milk toward her soft, juicy lips.
But the next second—
The milk vanished from her hand.
Silver Wolf blinked and turned to look—only to see Kafka holding the bottle, already halfway through drinking it. A single drop trailed from her lips, running down the delicate curve of her pale neck and disappearing beneath her collar.
Silver Wolf stared, lips parted slightly.
"…Ah. My milk."
Kafka, savoring the last drop, lowered the bottle with an audible sigh. Her pale-pink eyes shimmered with mild surprise—this milk was really good.
She looked toward Silver Wolf, lips curving slightly.
"Think of it as a token apology. I just had a workout and was feeling thirsty."
"Anyway—since you two seem to be hitting it off so well, are we not fighting anymore?"
One hand resting beneath her chest, the other touching her chin, Kafka turned to glance at Yevenko.
Yevenko, at that moment, looked every bit the boxing coach. He handed Tom a bottle of milk, massaged his shoulders, and delivered a heartfelt pep talk.
"Tom, I've come up with four strategic principles for your fight. To put it simply: three fundamentals, two flexibles…"
Only when Kafka spoke did he pause his antics.
Instead of replying right away, Yevenko looked at Silver Wolf. She gave him a small nod of acknowledgment.
Then he said, "Yeah, pretty much."
"Honestly, I never planned to fight in the first place. You guys were the ones who forced us to stay."
Still—it wasn't a loss.
Yevenko smiled as he glanced at his exploding exploration value.
He'd realized something important: the more Kafka fought—or rather, the more Tom fought—the faster his exploration value surged. At its peak, it rained down like coins from a gacha pull before finally tapering off.
Kafka pursed her lips slightly. "Then I suppose I've been a poor host."
She studied Yevenko's calm expression. Compared to Tom, she was beginning to find him a bit more interesting.
It was strange—Yevenko had immediately bolted upon seeing them, which meant he definitely knew who the Stellaron Hunters were. Their infamy stretched across the galaxy.
Yet there wasn't a trace of fear or disgust in his eyes.
In fact… was that excitement?
They say pets often resemble their owners. If he had a cat like Tom, then perhaps the "owner" was equally bizarre.
Hard to believe Tom possessed such refined swordsmanship. Purely in terms of technique, even the warriors of the Xianzhou might not have him beat.
But Yevenko's true power remained a mystery.
Unfortunately, now that things had de-escalated, there was no reason—or excuse—to keep testing him.
She turned slightly and glanced at Silver Wolf. "Alright, Silver Wolf."
"Time's about up. Let's go."
Silver Wolf looked reluctant. She still had so many strategies she wanted to share with Yevenko.
Kafka had been the one reluctant to leave earlier—and now she was the one insisting.
Silver Wolf pouted and said quietly, "Yevenko. Don't mention our connection to Stelle."
"We owe you one."
"I'll come find you again sometime."
"Later."
She gave a playful little wave, then tapped a button on her shimmering screen.
Yevenko waved back. "See you."
Massive exploration gains, a favor from the Stellaron Hunters, and good vibes with Silver Wolf—this was a total win.
Now if only she could hack him an infinite gacha pull mobile game…
In the next instant, both Silver Wolf and Kafka transformed into vibrant streams of data and vanished.
With the room now empty again, Yevenko glanced toward the unconscious Stelle lying on the floor.
He muttered to himself, "They just… left her here?"
"Stellaron Hunters really don't give a damn."
Still, from the looks of it, they were in a rush. March 7th and Dan Heng must be arriving soon.
And right as that thought crossed his mind—
Rapid footsteps echoed from outside the hatch.
A moment later, March 7th and Dan Heng stepped through the door. Spotting Yevenko and Tom, they both paused in surprise.
March 7th blinked. "Hey! Yevenko! Tom! You're here?"
"We just finished sweeping the area for survivors. We were about to call you."
Yevenko nodded. "I just had an exhilarating battle... Wait—rescue mission?"
"Well—" He pointed at Stelle. "There's one right here."
March 7th hurried over while Dan Heng scanned the room. Signs of battle were everywhere.
Though…
He looked from the milk bottle in Yevenko's hand to the fencing rapier in Tom's.
Yeah. Odds were, the "exhilarating battle" had been mostly Tom's doing.
From what he'd seen, Yevenko didn't seem capable of much combat.
If they were going to team up in the future, Dan Heng figured he'd have to keep a closer eye on him.
Just then, March 7th called out, "Yevenko, Dan Heng! She's not waking up! What do we do—should someone try mouth-to-mouth?"
Yevenko stepped in immediately. "Wait. Let the professionals handle this."
He approached Stelle, knelt beside her, lifted an eyelid, checked her tongue, then turned to the others and said solemnly:
"Tom's got this."
Tom, never far from Yevenko, had somehow donned a white lab coat in the blink of an eye. In his mind, a flurry of imagined emergency response protocols whirred into motion.
A speech bubble popped up over his head like a fluffy cloud—inside it, an AED appeared.
The dialogue bubble shoved a stunned March 7th aside as Tom reached in and pulled out the defibrillator.
Lightning crackled in his paws as he powered up the device, ready to slam it down onto Stelle's chest.
Just then—Stelle snapped awake in a panic. Seeing the defibrillator hovering inches from her, her eyes widened in horror.
"WAIT!!"
